When it comes to breaking the ice, some folks are born with jackhammers. Others with pickaxes, RPGs, and diesel powered belt sanders. I was not. I was given a napkin, a ruler, a spoon, and an unruly Parakeet. And I don't know about you, but I only know of one Macgyver, and I am not him. In the mean time, the spoon has broken, the ruler is stuck to the ice, and the Parakeet flew off with the napkin. So we're moving onward.

I've been RPing off and on for the last 12 years or so. Regretfully, it has been more of the off rather than the on due to the joys of life and what it does to schedules. Things have finally simmered down now to a much more reasonable and predictable pace, which means I can get back to doing the things I love. I have used this site in the past for character generation and as a placeholder for character sheets, but I have never explored the site itself. After perusing the forums for a bit, I see this was in error.

As for the RPs I prefer... 'Flexible' is a terrible cop out, isn't it? Good ideas are like cats (And inversely, cats are a good idea!). They come in all shapes, colors, and sizes, and they are all uniquely wonderful in their own way. That idealistic notion aside, the disclaimer would be there are limitations, though they would be dependent upon the situation at the time. If I were forced to pick a favorite, I would have to... think about it for a little while...

Other than that, I'm in school while working. I have 4 cats, a bird, and soon a little doge. I look forward to meeting everyone here!
Hello Freyera! I hope you have a fun time here on RPR! Its a nice site. ◑▂◐
Hey Freyera, welcome to RPR! :)

Welcome to the forums then Freyera! :) Good to see you getting involved with the community now. A little fun fact: RPR was initially designed to be used the way you used it, as simple RP character profile containers. The community and everything else you see, including the forums, were born as an extension to that concept. (And what a magnificent extension indeed!)

I think your RP style is more or less the rule of thumb around here as it is, so that shouldn't be any problem whatsoever. :D Is there anything about the site or community in general you have questions about we can help you with?
Hello and welcome to RPR! I hope you make lots of friends and enjoy your time here!
Welcome to RPR! I applaud your ice breaking. I award thee with a virtual and tiny tiny golden star! :3 Anyways, I hope that you find tons of rp and meet tons of the nice people here :D
Brilliant ice breaker! Welcome back and enjoy! :)

Woo! It's a cornucopia of nice people here! Hello nice people! And really, any excuse to use 'cornucopia' in a sentence is a good excuse! And many thanks for your kind words about the ice breaker. Introductions for me are about as easy as navigating a room full of rocking chairs as a cat.

I did have a few questions, but honestly, I have been staring at the gif on Sanne for the last 10 minutes and have forgotten everything I had to say D:

It's oddly therapeutic isn't it?! I cross stitch and it's brilliant.
Cross Stitching: for the times when I want to stab something 20,000 times :') haha.
Feel free to ask questions when they come back to you. Probably at 4.32am. I'm kinda newish here but someone will know the answers I'm sure!
And to be fair. One of my dogs would raise hell trying to get through a room of rocking chairs too!
That's a neat introduction! As you've probably noticed by now, RPR is home to the friendliest community on the interweb!
I also love cats, and is the proud kitty-mom of Kali Kaligula, an evil ball of fluf that is soon to turn 1 year old ;)

Anyway, I hope you'll have a great time here!

It is! It's so captivating too!

And now I have the faintest urge to go buy rocking chairs...

Kitties are evil balls of fluff with their sharp little claws and thoughtlessly detached attitudes! It's a good thing they are super adorable, though.

My names Holly-Leaf. Welcome to RPR! You can either call me, Holly or Leaf. Either ones fine with me! Welcome!

I like cats too, as does my missus. Sanne's cats are pretty much darlings. What kind of dog are you getting?

Do you like cannons?

Just pounce already! Why must I endure this adorable torment?

I could not tell you the breed of Doge at the moment (Sadly, not Shiba) as I have busied myself more with learning how to get it to perform its... erm... business, outside. Which is why it is being gotten rid of at its current household. They claim it can't be taught. I don't believe them.

I hope Sanne has lots of cats. :D

Cannons, you say? If we're talking about the ones that really put the nail in the coffin of the Medieval castle era (Not that Trebuchet's hadn't already started hammering it in), then you're in luck, because cannons are awesome! Well, you may not be in luck. You didn't necessarily state that you were looking for an affirmation.

Although it's a perfectly valid use of the site to just store character profiles, I do think people are missing out when they don't partake in this fabulous community! I love it here, and it gives me happies to see you getting to enjoy it as well! :D

Happies you say? Are these a tangible resource? Could they, for example, be moved around or put in storage or stolen? I only ask because of a friend. Totally. <_< >_>

Okay, so I can't find the story or whatever where I first heard about it, but your question, though I know it was meant to be silly, I can actually provide a serious and semi-legitimate answer to.

Go to a pet store and buy a dog clicker, you can get it for about a buck. Carry it around with you in your pocket or on your keychain or whatever. Whenever you find that you are having a happy moment, take a second to click the clicker. To me, the sound itself is quite pleasing as well. Just give it a click whenever you're happy, it won't take long for it to become habit. Then, when you're feeling down or blue, pull out your clicker and give yourself one. Because your mind has grown to associate the sound of the clicker with happiness, your mood should lift, making you feel better.

TL;DR, yes, you can "store" happies in a dog clicker

Oooh! I remember this story now! You're right! That's awesome! Thanks!

Yeah, that clicker training thing actually kinda works! :D
