I haven't had a urgent problem for the moderators in a long time, but I still think on it from time to time. With the moderators being in such different places and their own personal internal clocks it can be hard to know who you should report to first and typing up the names and checking them off can be a bit of a hassle (though less so than before, thanks!).

I think it would be beneficial to have a button to press to report to all the mods without having to name them all. I am aware of the report button on posts, but sometimes there is something else to be reported and I think a button or quick link would be really beneficial.

We have report buttons for the most common things now, like user and chara profiles, PM messages and forum topics. Kudos and gallery images are moderator approved before they show up publicly in notification feeds. Groups can't be reported but the founder or members causing grief can, I guess, though I'm not sure how necessary a "report a group" button would be!

I'm going to assume this is for reports of a more general nature, like asking questions maybe? Picking any one moderator will do, there's usually no reason to sift through their profiles and find out who's online for low-key inquiries. If someone can't get to it in a reasonable time they will pass on the question to a moderator who can, so you're never going to be left hanging for long!

For more urgent questions, the contact us page allows for general inquiries with Kim as well who will get to these relatively fast, and I'm assuming she'll follow the same procedure and will hand over the question to a moderator if needed.

That said, I think it would be awesome to have a "Ask a moderator a question" button/form that ends up in a general queue for all mods to see, and whoever is online can handle it first. It seems more streamlined and efficient for the moderators as well so there's less 'paperwork' if stuff needs to be handed over or discussed.

i always assumed the Contact Us form serves as a generic alert for all moderators, with the message going into a shared log, just as the new post/topic/PM report buttons do?

if that isn't the case, i second this suggestion! the report post button is a wonderful tool, and i could definitely see a similar 'alert a mod' button for other inquiries being more comfortable for people who might be too shy to approach a mod directly with a PM.

I can't say for 100% sure, but I have always been under the impression that Kim is the only one who can directly access messages sent through this method. I'm sure she could pass a message on to the mod team for someone else to handle the simple questions that any mod can answer if that's the case, but it doesn't sound like an effective method behind the scenes, especially with all the shiny mod tool upgrades the mods have gotten over the past year.

Yes, the contact form just goes to me right now. An option that goes to all mods is something I've definitely wanted for awhile! It would probably depend on what you picked from the subject drop down - bug reports would still just go to me.
