Welcome to RPR! And as for what we do here, I'm not sure I'm the best person for that question. There's A LOT to do here. You can find Rp by looking in the forum. From there, the rp can go to pm, private message, (pretty much all I do) or it can go to another forum. If you hover over the thing that says 'Forums' on your toolbar, you'll see all the various categories. Some people do group rps there. Other people just set it up so it's between two people.
The Smalltalk forum is where people post pretty much anything. There's an actual chat labeled as 'Just Talkin,' and that's at the very top of the screen. There's an option at the top and bottom of the page to 'Launch Chat.' That makes it so the messages come up real time.
There's an area for Art and Creativity (which is pretty freakin' cool!), and there's a game forum. Oh! And you can always come here and welcome other people
So plenty of stuff to keep you entertained.
Beyond these different chats, you can make characters and work on your username page. Making characters.... just wow. So many options. There are tons of background sorted out by color. There are tons of functions that you can choose to include. Some people's stuff looks waaaay cooler than mine, so really, character making is just like creativity central.

We also have a lot on non-RP stuff happening around the site! There are RP groups as well as Out Of Character groups that have topics other than RPing, for example. (I'm the founder of The Yarn Stash, which is a knitting/crocheting group, and the founder of Here For You, a support group for people who struggle with real life, mental and physical health problems and need a listening ear - none of it really RP related but just as welcome on the site all the same. )
Some people even just use the site to store their character profiles on but RP in other games, messengers etc.

I think you'll find that there's a ton of things to do here, if you haven't already. ^^ The Find RP button let's you either create or join RPs at a whim, which honestly I think is a brilliant feature. I'm always intimidated by main forum posts on other sites, but here it's always so welcoming. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for and more.
