I am looking to start a horror-ish roleplay. I had this thought banging around for about a week. It would be based on an amalgamation of the game ‘Monstrum’ and ‘Metroid Fusion’.


The Monstrum half would be the premise. You would be stuck on a ship with a monster. You have to find a way off the ship while the monster hunts you down.


The Metroid Fusion part would be the progression. There would be a Metroidvania style of progression. It would be open world where the only way to progress to the next area is to collect a ‘powerup’ from the current area. It doesn't have to be a powerup, it could be anything from a key to a vent.


The ship is transporting a large amount of dangerous and anomalous objects and creatures. As a result, you can play as whatever you want. The strange and anomalous characters will start somewhere in the cargo bay. Mainly because they're the ones being transported. The more normal seeming characters could start wherever they please. You could play more than one character if you're able.


I'm looking for four other players. If there's any more info you'd like to know, yell at me.

Would Remus by any chance fit into this setting? If he's too powerful I can always nerf him for this. Will there be much character interaction?

I like him, I don't think he'd need to be nerfed. I think he'd fit in good. I am on the fence on whether he'd be considered anomalous and be held in the cargo bay or if he'd be contracted to keep watch on the anomalous people/creatures. I'm kinda leaning toward the latter, What's your opinion? In terms of character interaction, I'm not a hundred percent. The ship would be pretty large, I would think groups would be formed. I kind of want to leave it mostly up to the players. I'd still be playing but I'd also be DM'ing in a way.

I agree with you on the latter option. You think? I thought he'd be a little OP at first, but that's fine. And okay, I was hoping Remus could talk to a few of the others during his assignment, to y'know, spice things up a bit. Keep in mind I don't have a lot of experience in Sci-Fi, so you're gonna have to be patient if I mix up my terminologies. I also have a bit of an intellectual disability, which could lead to certain inconsistencies if you were to ever put me in a 'semi' DM position (I'm hoping you won't do that ), so again, if you could be patient on that part that'd be great.

That definitely won't be a problem. I wouldn't worry about the inconsistencies. If you need help, I'd be more than happy to help you out . I don't know how long you've been here but most everybody here is super nice.

You wouldn't happen to be English, would you? That seems to be everyone I come across on here, It's uncanny. At the very least, You're male. At least that breaks the cycle to some degree .

As for characters. Sapphire could be a guard of the abnormals, or I have a couple of abnormals myself? Technically Sapphy could be abnormal too I guess...anyone you guys are particularly itnterested in?

I'd like to leave it entirely up to you. I believe I said this before, I'd like to keep the story loose and freeform. Let the players take the initiative and see what happens. I think if it goes well it'll be super awesome!

Hmm. Would an Elf be ok? Hehe. She's almost an elven form of Sapphire only warmer and possibly weirder haha.

Yeah, That'd be cool. I also get the feeling she's somehow connected to Sapphire. I'm sure there's a "Story behind it."
