OUTSIDE THE AMANOGAWA CAFE AND ROADHOUSE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the area outside of the Amanogawa Cafe and Roadhouse. You'll note the giant multi-colored building with several doorways all lined near the red brick roadway? That's us. The whole building. The circus in the back is currently down, but... we'll get to that. Maybe. The point is, we're here, and you can be here with us!

A few matters to digest first, yes:

Firstly, we're only open one day out of every week. Once we've got a proper cast of employees (All listed in the We're Hiring Page and About Us page, respectively), we'll be able to reveal which day that is. Either way, when the shop is CLOSED, you are welcome to gather outside and enjoy each other's company. There may even be free treats and snacks out, so if so, help yourselves! Mingle, party, entertain and be entertained!

When the cafe is OPEN, please wait to be waved in by a Guard and take your posting solely to the “Inside” thread, to ease confusion and keep the flow right. Go in, make your order, enjoy your food – either inside or out. You might have a guest or two with you when you come in. That's okay. For more than four people, please make arrangements with our mascot or PM me personally. And hey, don't forget to leave a tip (or post something in the guest book of any of our fine staff)!

If you aren't familiar with the advertisements made by our dearest Bellarue Vermil, you should go and check out the main ones in Looking For (either adult or otherwise, they should be the same). That might help you get the feel of what's going on if this doesn't. While it's okay to ask a few direct questions there, it's advised that you try your luck actually asking most inquiries IC, right out here! If our mascot can't answer them or is otherwise occupied with her duties, you might find help from fellow customers or the guard(s).

The city of Mikan uses what's known as a Transworld Gate, so most styles of character are acceptable to use here. We are NOT seeking a traditional rp world storyline here!!! This is just a place to semi-adapt your characters, meet people IC, and of course... EAT!!! And pay. Also, pay. But we do ask that you at least give it an effort to sink into some of the aesthetics, and certainly do your best to keep the flow going nicely. Wait your turn and don't be afraid to offer a critique in an orderly fashion.

At the bottom of this note is the info you should need to know what's generally going down. Eat well and fill those bellies with something warm and delicious! We're happy to oblige, and the Amanogawa Cafe and Roadhouse thanks you for your patronage!!!

All interviews for job positions will take place in the downstairs backroom lounge. Please let the Guard know so he can see you inside.

The sun was being rather polite, retreating quietly as the neighboring high rises obscured its last fleeting rays of light to the Fairgrounds District. With Mikan's resident populace all settling in for the night, dusk slyly plying a fiddler's tune along the violet sky, it was something of a tranquil atmosphere the whole city over.

Shirito wiped the dust from his brow, a wicker-bound broom in his opposing hand, before realizing that he was still in his baking attire. The white cotton was plenty comfortable, but he wasn't very fond of how difficult it was to wash. With a light step, he sighed before continuing to sweep the red brick roadway in front of the Amanogawa.

A few lower income peasants offered their humble thanks as well as farewells for the night. They were all nibbling on bread and sipping from disposable cups holding trace amounts of milk the cafe really couldn't afford to be giving out for their first day's opening. But Shirito saw the glint of happiness in their eyes, and watched the children twisting licorice whips around their wrist as they trotted about gleefully. The hum of sorcerous light bulbs and the occasional hoof clack of both himself and the horses of weary travelers presented the youth a music with which to dance...

Bellarue was off somewhere or other, after her little excursion he realized he'd likely motivated. He swept the doorway clear, re-positioned the sign in the window for the third or fourth time today, and entered the shop sideways - as not to get his horns stuck again. Though he disliked the idea of his daughter being out so late, there was no accounting for her enjoyment in being useful as well as diligent. It pained him some, the amount of stress she might inflict on herself in trying so hard to figure her role as mascot, but not for a moment did he doubt her ability to reckon herself into it with her utmost efforts.

And this... made him proud.

Though he appeared young even by dillinger bull standards, he had quite the few years over her, though not as many as some might expect. He had married in his youth to Bellarue's comforting demi-cow of a mother, whose life he had saved by allowing her to give his purpose. With her now past, it was only 'Rue and himself, and the shop. This was their homestead, but home itself was a few miles worth of walking.

As energetic as Bellarue could be, it was possible she'd already worked her way home, flipping or dancing the whole way there... and likely toppling any passerby sadly in her way. The idea of it made him smile with paternal knowing, as the bulbs were downed away, and the doors all locked up tight. He set the usual protection spells, and a few of his own home-brewed curses before heading right back out to the road.

They hadn't made much of an earning today, but the experience itself had promise. Shirito huffed on the glass window near the doorway one last time for the evening, polishing the glass with the sleeve of his robe, before locking up. He then placed the broom against the doorknob, tilting it across the entry, and made for home... a bag of brownies and a few bits of rock candy for testing later slung over his shoulder.

The moon came to greet him as he walked, and Shirito was glad of the company.
The Big Man 'Diesel' (played by TomeOfVampires)

Diesel slowly approached the café's window, placing one hand on it as he looked at the 'HIRING NOW!' sign"Hmph, might as well" He decided to walk around for someone to tell him where to go for the interview or whatever you needed to do to get hired

"Alright! I can do that." She said happily to her father before going to the sign leaning against the outer wall of the kitchen. Her hoofs clanked loudly across the floor and to the door where she opened it to head out.

Instead of looking out like she needed to, she looked back at him. "The cake should be-oof!" She walked smack into the man before her. He smelled of leather and a scent that said it was something that would never be washed out. Oil made it's dark smudges on the otherwise white vest he wore, testifying against any scrubbing that had probably been done to it through previous washes.

Stumbling back away from him, she went to babbling. "Oh! My apologies! That was my fault! I wasn't paying attention!" She looked up at him, tall as he was compared to her, it seemed like the top of his head even surpassed her father's horns! "Please come in!" She shot out of the way, almost tripping over her own hooves to make room for the man.

y.1370, month of the Jackrabbit, 6th day.

Someone opened a bag of feathers from one of the higher towers, fluffing out their blankets and pillows to the street below. Shirito passed them with a stoic indignation, but did manage to catch a few of them in the crux of his horns - without trying. He'd brought with him a bag of his own, lumbered over his right shoulder with only a modest sway to the contents inside. Most of what he carried were supplies to help add a bit of zest to the goods he'd spent the last few hours baking that night.

Reflecting, he recalled having passed some giant of a man, who was most obviously an immigrant from the Transworld Gate. They'd seemed lightly interested in the shop, but the air of hostility he'd read from the newcomer wasn't the kind that gave him cause for concern. That had been yesterday morning, and Shirito was now so enamored with making his way to the shop to try out some new recipes with Bellarue, he didn't think to look for the traveler outside. Someone that large was surely capable of making themselves known again, if they wished.

With a twist of several keys and a wave to disarm some of the more engaging spells that kept the cafe safe, Shirito opened the door with the tip of one hoof... before bumping his horns on the doorjam. He groaned a bit, smiled to himself, and turned sideways.

The bag clanked, pots and pans echoing loudly enough that some of the nearby guests of the Fairgrounds District seemed mildly alarmed. He gave them a polite acknowledgement that things were fine, then, stepped back from the doorway. Shirito slid the bag in along the ground, shoved it to the side with his hoof, and proceeded to enter - shoulder first.

He turned to a few onlookers, their curiosity not all that strong, but still poignantly aimed at the newest shop owner. The beastman gave a half-bow from the neck, and one of the younger girls giggled as he celebrated his small victory from inside.

Well, and why not? Each was important in its own way, wasn't it?

Shirito left the door open, set the bag on the table and let the cloth unravel until he had a nice stack of mystically glowing pots, as well as a very fancy ladle.

Then, he took up the broom from outside the roadhouse and began sweeping the red roadwork, waiting for Bellarue to arrive. Perhaps she was already there, somewhere in the back, or even studying in the enchantment room. Then again, it was fairly possible she was still asleep in bed.
Bellarue Vermil (played anonymously)

The sound of the door opening and closing had woken her up just enough to roll over and curl back up, it hadn't truly registered until she had woke up again an hour later in alarm. It was more a fall rather than her stepping out of bed and into the lavender smell of the room. The curtains really were the cause for the bad habit of sleeping in. It's thick fabric blocking out most of the sun's attempt to intrude it's way in.

This morning was no different from the last. A repetitive hurry to get dressed and not hit the floor doing so in her scramblings. "Hairbrush, hairbrush, hairbr- there you are!" Quickly and roughly did she pull it through her hair. "Ow ow ow!" Pink strands layered the bristles. Thinking to herself about going without brushing for a couple of days was pushed to side. Surly her father would disapprove of that idea.

Flying down the stairs as gracefully as she could manage and into the pantry, she shoved a breakfast pastry between her lips and hurried out of the windmill they called home.

Feathers were everywhere when she came through. Their fluffiness was too much to ignore so she scooped some up. Maybe they would come in handy later as a decorating material. Pulling one closer to her face, she bit into what was left of breakfast and smiled at it's small and soft design.

Arriving to Amanogawa out of breath, gulping at the dryness that itched the back of her throat, she saw her father sweeping at the road just outside the café. "I'm here! I'm here!" Her voice carried even as she neared him.
Shirito Han (played anonymously)

His daughter brought with her a storm of dust as her hooves dashed across the roadway. Shirito looked up from his work and slung the broom over his shoulder. He looked her up and down once.

She'd been rushing, again, but had obviously managed to at least put on clothes that matched.

Again, what is a success, is a success.

"I can see that," he said, dusting himself off from the trail of light brown smoke she'd kicked up, dashing through the pile he'd had accumulated for about that past hour. Then, with a soft smile, he let his light colored eyes dart towards the cafe's main door. "Go throw on an apron, while I try and get this street cleared. And mind the cooking ware on the front room table; take it into the kitchen. I'd like to try making some of the phoenix egg soup broth today, yes?"
