Hello and welcome to the first ever game of drawpile!
Drawpile is a game where a bunch of artists come together to draw a large piece involving their characters! The end result will be one massive mashup with a variety of different characters in their artist's art styles, interacting with another.
If this sounds rad and you'd like to join, keep on reading!
We have all of our artists for this round! Post what characters will be in your draw pile (height and size is very important for this one!) So we can determine the drawing order!
Important Note
If you are participating in this round's Drawpile;
Keep the file size to 1000 Pixels Wide and 2000 Pixels in Height. 200 Pixels per Centimetre/508 Pixels Per Inch is a must for the resolution to prevent quality being affected.
Please keep the file as a PSD!
Rules
- We need 10 artists, 10 characters per draw pile.
- We vote on whichever scene we'd like to do the most before we draw.
- We take turns. Artist one draws, sends their image to next artist, repeat.
- Artists are encouraged to send a PSD and a PNG image to the next artist!
- For sending PSD Files, sites like Dropbox can be useful!
- For the sake of not ruining the quality of everyone's drawings;
You need to keep the file as the same size as you receive it.
Please do not resize anything else that other artists have made.
Please do not alter the overall image size.
- Be respectful to your fellow artist!
- PG-13 content only.
- Ideally, digital platforms to make your part of the picture is recommended.
- Traditional artists, may join as long as you have a high quality scanner and have the means to make your drawing transparent enough to stick onto the draw pile!
- You can use free platforms such as GIMP and paintnet !

Useful Info For Art
That is how you save a file as PSD in Paint Tool SAI.
The majority of the time, saving as a PSD can be done via searching through the file times your save option can allow you to save it as. PSD should be one of them. Or, if in doubt, attempt to type in ".psd" at the end of the file name, and see if that works.

This Drawpile will be based on...
Character Tower!
A tower made with characters holding the above character(s)!
This Round's Drawing Order
1. Heimdall's Heimdall (Variable size - Largest)
2. TinyCentaur's Bhaltair (10'03")
3. F0xintheb0x's Rinku (7'00")
4. Maelstrom's Jian Ya (5'07"?)
5. reeno-alchemist's Raine (5'05")
6. Sasheth's Oshua (5'04")
7. Rat's Flump (As Oshua's Hat!)
8. Claine's West (5'01")
9. PANGAEA's Bambi (4'04")
10. Evilduckie's Dazen (3'05". Smallest.)
I want to join!
I vote for the tower, but only if I can go first to put Heimdall at the bottom. *innocent whistle* Otherwise, coffee shop!
How does the background get done? Will someone be in charge of drawing it, or will everyone just add a little piece of it?

Wooo!
Also, since Heimdall is a very large character (and p.s, they have a very awesome design! ), it would make the most sense to have them at the bottom, given their height and strength and species. c:
Also if particular drawings involve props and such, artists can add in their own little sections of the drawing, such as tables or presents. Otherwise it would be all on a white background but with props and signs to show where the characters are.
E.g: Eveyrone is huddled around a TV (drawn) and playing video games. (Controllers are drawn by the artists.) Also a bunch of other characters are watching on a sofa (drawn by how many artists are sitting on the sofa.), yet still have a white background. Make sense?
Or maybe if someone would like to, once everything is finished they can add in a background if they wish!

Yes! But, for example, who would draw the TV? And would each section of sofa be drawn by a different artist? These aren't necessarily problems per se, I just want to make sure the kinks are ironed out!
Ideally I think that one of the artists would loosely sketch a couple of key background elements so that composition and scale are established. However, that means more work for someone, which stinks. Maybe instead of an actual sketch of the background, just blobs showing where the key elements are? Like one saying "TV!" and one saying "sofa!" Then it's up to the individual artists to render parts of them, and of course they can be changed as needed. My lame example, LOL
Also, file formats! It'd be nice to send around a layered file for obvious reasons. I'm not sure what kind of art programs people will have, but most programs can open a Photoshop PSD file, so that might be the best option? If we do pass it around as an unlayered file, I suggest we use PNG format so that we don't get any wacky JPEG compression issues.
Mhm! Each part of the sofa will be drawn by different artists depending where their character is sitting on that sofa. But of course, they could always interpret where the rest of the sofa will be on a sketch layer!
So yeah, your example would be a very good idea to implement!
From experience, I do believe PSDs (PS files) do work with most other programs as I have sent many files to a friend who uses GIMP. So yes, I will also be using PSDs, and a image size of 200 Pixels per Centimetre for a suitable quality. Also, PNG formats are indeed preferred since JPEGs are nasty business.
The only problem with using PSDs is how big the file size might get. Which is why I think using PNGs when the file size gets too big might be a better option?

What characters are we allowed to use and will there be a time limit on each artist's drawing? Not expecting to takes months or anything, just curious.
hmm, i got a couple suggestions! i think this will make things easier for those who are still getting used to digital art but would like to take part:
- links to some free art programs like paintnet and GIMP so traditional artists can scan and cut out their art neatly to put in the image. maybe a mention of the Multiply, or Color to Alpha tools as ways to make it transparent.
- encouraging everyone to offer both a PSD and a PNG so whoever comes next can decide what works best for them/if their computer can handle large PSD files
- a small explanation on how to save files as PSD, along with links to sites which allow file uploads (eg. dropbox) and image uploads (eg. postimage, imgur)
also, one vote for the character tower! i think the dimensions would be better as 1000x2000 for that one to allow more vertical room. super large characters can always peek into the frame if they don't fully fit!

@f0x - Artists are expected to use whichever OC they wish! No canon characters or celebrities are allowed. The purpose is to purely bring in everyone's characters to an unlikely event of them all meeting in one place!
Also, I was thinking about putting a 4-5 day limit for everyone's drawing, but of course this can be extended if the artist needs it. Since you know, life happens. c:
@rat - ahh thank you for these! i'll be sure to add these in since they're quite useful!

I think I'd like to try it :> The character tower sounds fun
I'd like to try this but I won't be available until after Christmas and New Years
That's alright! We'll start as soon as we got everyone. c:
@Claine - Which prompt would you like to vote for?

Still looking for Five more people!
If not, we might have to start with just the 5 of us!

I would like to do this It seems fun.
@Evilduckie227 - Wooo! What option would you prefer to draw?
At the moment, I think it might end up as the Character Tower, but feel free to vote still!

Count me in with Oshua! OuO
And as for my vote it goes to the tower!

Half of us have Voted for character tower now, so that will be the idea we'll be basing this draw pile on!
Largest characters at the bottom, and smallest at the top!

Weee! We have everyone now!
We will be drawing the character tower. Please show us the characters you'll be drawing and please tell us the height so we can determine the draw order!
