I'm joining this site mostly to look for a DnD session to join. I'm familiar with 3.5, but I'm also trying to learn 5e.

I have been a kind-of fan of the DnD structure forever. I draw a lot of inspiration from it for characters. But I have yet to properly learn the gameplay mechanics.

LARP is generally acted out physically--if you wanna swing a sword, you actually swing your actual (foam) sword. In D&D and other similar "pen and paper" games, you just SAY you swing your sword, then roll dice to see if you succeed.

That said, Terashi, I've seen people looking for Pathfinder groups, but I know we have D&D folks around too. Someday I was gonna run a oneshot for RPR people set in my Candylance setting (high fantasy Candyland), which probably will be reskinned D&D 5e, so keep an eye out if you're interested
