Okay... I'm only slightly losing my mind here.
Recently dropbox has issued a statement that as of... some time in March of next year, I think it was, the public folder will be disappearing for good and they will no longer allow the hosting of images on websites. As an avid profile decorator here on RPR, ALL of my images for my many profiles here are hosted there and I am SO upset about it. Mainly because that's a TON of recoding I'm going to have to do to fix up my sites but there's also the matter of where in the world will I host them now?
I'll refrain from sobbing disgustingly here about it for now, but I wondered what website you lovely people might suggest as an alternative? I adore the organization that dropbox provided, but I fear I won't find anything quite like it out there... My preferences are simple- a place I can post a folder full of images that can be posted on profiles here using the img tags. The folders must be able to be made private but still host the images here. I don't need a whole heap of space available on the hosting site as most of my images are tiny.
The only thing I'm seeing that remotely suits these needs is imgur, but I wondered if anybody had any better alternatives before I set up shop there. My only solid 'no' sites are photobucket and tinypic. So... that said, anybody have any ideas?
Thanks for reading and happy holidays~!

I like Imgur myself, but then again, I ain't as fancy as you are with my knowledge of coding. I probably don't have as many images as you do. I don't think that they have folders per say, but they do have albums, which might be the same thing? And things there are fairly private. As long as you don't publish it, no one knows its there unless they see it where you link it.
I hope that helps.

Subscribing because I've never found a satisfying solution to this question either. I currently use imgur, which is okay but not amazing, or my own hosting, which is just a little cumbersome and I'd rather not jam it up.
i personally love postimage.org - images never expire, and making an account isn't necessary unless you want to keep track of your hosted images. it's also very friendly for computers prone to lagging (imgur/tinypic/photobucket is dreadful for clutter, at least for me) because the interface contains only what you need.
it has a 'family friendly' rating restriction - admittedly i'm not sure what that encompasses, exposed nipples/non-sexual nudity might not be allowed so if you upload those i can't say whether they'll disappear or not - but they've made another site called pixxxels.org for the other stuff. another way you could get around that is upload nsfw character images to their RPR profile in a gallery widget, and use the links for those.
for other files, i was using dropbox, but i'll probably switch to mega.nz in light of this bizarre update.

That does help a bit, yeah. Thanks! I wasn't sure if you could opt out of publishing things you upload there or not. Sounds like it may be my best bet, atm. Albums are basically the same as folders, though with dropbox you could place folders within folders, for better organization, which is what I'm going to be missing dearly when I take my leave of dropbox. I really wish they'd change their mind, but... alas.

Pretty much where I'm at. Imgur seems the best of the options at the moment but not the best in general. I agree- there's no way I'd be able to host my own stuff. I wouldn't even know where to start. @_@

Thank you for your suggestions! I'll have to check them out when I've got some spare time on hand. I'm all for simplistic appearance. I don't have the best internet, so other sites do tend to bog me down with all the fancy images and flash and all that stuff. Looks nice, but doesn't play nice with my connection. xD
