"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
-Joshua 1:9 (English Standard Version)
"You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you."
-Eisenhower
The year is 1944. The month is June. The day? It's somewhere in between five and six.
You sit among one of many people, most underage or just barely out of college. All of you are clad in a similar uniform, wiped of any kind of diversity. The only way to distinguish one from another is through the precious possessions they may have brought with them or their culture.
The emblem of the 82nd Division is emblazoned on your arm. Though your company is relatively new, the Airborne Corps may be one of the many deciding factors of the European Theater. After all, you're in your invincible youth, no? You can do anything...Right? You tell yourself it'll be all right, that the operation will be over before you know it. The harsh weather that had pervaded the atmosphere previously seems to be letting up. Things seem to be looking up.
Then the earth below lights up like Christmas tinsel as the methodical thud of anti-aircraft bullets screams through the air. The Douglas C-47 Skytrain carrying you takes multiple shots from the 88mm flak through the engine, causing the engines to combust and slowly dropping altitude. It's time to move.
Operation OVERLORD has begun

All of this seems to be from some dramatized movie in Technicolor, or perhaps some kind of outlandish tale you'd hear your grandparents tell you. Everything seems so vague, so distant. But the events were real. And the struggles were real. This is the legacy of terror, of camaraderie, of ideals. This is one of many heroic stories born from the ashes that people know as World War II.

This will be a roleplay heavily based on the events from 1944 to 1945 throughout Western Europe. For the record, it'll all be non-canon. I'll do my best to keep it as accurate as possible as well, but the fact that the roleplay never really did happen in history also means there may be some inconsistencies. Otherwise, being the avid war nut I am, I would love to discuss more in depth about the events that conspired in the past. Romance is not completely out of the question, just don't let it get out of hand. This is also technically a war, which means that there will be probably character death at some points. I will probably also touch on the more grim aspects of the war, such as the concentration camps, the genocide of prisoners, the ideals of Nazism, and more.
You can be a member of a squad in the 82nd Airborne Division, or do a different role so long as it coincides with the plot. Examples are not limited to but include the Royal Air Force, the French Resistance, etc. Also, women during this period were not officially allowed to serve in active combat but they served numerous other roles such as spies, pilots, nurses, and more. Unless you plan on fulfilling a role along those lines, female characters will not be accepted.

No magic at all.
Industrial revolution
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.
Hmm I am somewhat interested. Lemme think about it

I at least appreciate the fact that somebody showed interest haha.
I really don't have any characters which would necessarily fit in this kind of setting, with the closest one to match this would be Matvei, but y'know. I wouldn't mind trying a world war two themed RP, I suppose.
Definitely interested a WWII-type RP. Let me know if I can join. I will probably have to create a new character, but I am happy to do so.

Great! I was thinking of a pilot role, either a fighter aircraft or a light bomber. Also, do I need to create a new character? I have one that might be up for the challenge, but I can leave out parts about him. His name is Dylan Neznakomec. He is originally Russian, but I could also change that depending on your preferences.

perhaps he's a russian immigrant who joined the american air force or something, and was responsible for the aircraft?
He would probably play either the marksman or the scout, due to his weapons and abilities. Maybe he could join the party when they land and head out somewhere, being maybe a supportive unit sent from somewhere to aid and he meets them after getting separated or lost?
rolled 1d20 and got 20
Just a fair warning, i'm not all that big on history. Excuse my future mistakes.

Sounds good! What is your opinion on his abilities? I was thinking that he wouldn't have them, but that is entirely up to you.

Honestly having more than one Russian might be an issue since we are talking about the western front. Russians, Baltic states, and polish people were more prevalent on the eastern front. Maybe ask shortie to change character?

I don't think anything supernatural will be happening in this roleplay so scratch the abilities.
In reply to the above comments on the abilities and the nationalities, I will create a new British character for this RP and other RP's in the future.
Here is my new character created for this rp. Hope you like him!
If you want we can start now while waiting for more people.
Sounds good. Let's get these birds up in the air. Who's with me?
