Chiara would finish her tea off, and she would throw away the cup before taking Qinglau's elbow. "Sure, it's not too far from here." As for taking a vacation, she'd think about it. "I think so. I would have to somehow contact my...wife though. I wouldn't want her to worry. She misses my husband too. They were also...close." She'd clear her throat, "Oh? Where did you intend to go? Maybe I can help you?" She's just going to be walking along with Qinglau then, heading towards the temples.
(...as qingy lacks a profile,) "Oh... You spoke of temples. Is there no rite or incantation there? Or is she a mere attendant?" that was entirely possible, but his somewhat foggy memory of distant past reminded the old man that... It didn't seem to be the case. He had been interested in that detail before and never found an absolute answer. Oh, well... It was fairly inconsequential now. "Don't worry about my personal business. I have extended family in the area I desired to see and speak to. Nothing of great importance. They clearly don't want to speak to me, so I'll leave them be." rather pacifistic for a demon king, isn't he? One could blame his age, but he'd always been a flowing personality. It was part of what caused such conflict in the family to begin with. It was hard to churn that kind of storm from him again, however.
Chiara was confused about what he meant, "I...don't know what you mean. One of the temples is dedicated to her and her brother, and the other to a relative of theirs." As for his family, she'd go quiet. She felt as if maybe she'd over stepped her bounds in offering to help, so she'd let the topic go. Unless he's eager to speak again, the rest of their trip is likely made in relative silence.
"...well, well. I see I've made an important ladyfriend." in many ways his impact upon his young prince's charm were evident, but his were truly far less lewd than his now-gone heir. "At a temple, it should be fairly easy to contact the entity in question, yes? Especially with the right evocation. You know them well, surely you know such a spell or could construct one." how far off was the temple? In the grim city, his armlink was more for his benefit than hers. The dull hum of commerce and transportation was all a vague blur to the half blind spook. Eventually temples would light his spectral vision ablaze.
Qinglau can probably soon see the temples, "Not really?" She didn't think of herself as important anyway. Still, they're on their way and she'll lead him towards Hermes Temple, "Oh, you mean you want me to get her attention? I don't do spells or anything like that. About the best I could do is call her name, if she's not busy, she might answer me." She'll head up to the door, and then she'll grab one of the peacock tail handles and hold the thing open, "After you." The door would likely be blazing particularly brightly with Gabriel's energy.
"Hah, you act as though it takes some rare talent. Perhaps to do so with great power, but evocation, much less for a related entity, is no feat." still, it was the building he had suspected from a distance. Stopping at the door, he pulled off a glove to drag fingertips across a few key runes. Oh, dear. as expectable, it was a highly benevolent or, at least, protective entity. "...ah. I should probably wait outside. It's rude for someone like myself to enter the domain of another without permission." he adjusted his glasses and glanced away. Though something ate at him, and soon he peered at the door with furrowed brows, seeing vaguely past the first glow and towards a familiar coalescence of contrasting energies. It must have been a trick of distance, barriers, and his mind's influence by recent conversation.
Chiara blinked, "It's just really not my thing." She wasn't really sure she even wanted to try. She's confused as to why he won't go in, "It's a public place...it's open to anybody at all. Besides, when she first heard I was having lessons, she told me to continue with them." She'd let the door slide closed, "If it will make you feel better though, I can try getting her attention now?"
He was ready to offer his explanation or attempt to leave when the open door betrayed something inside. He stepped through in a daze, walking straight past a few barricades and staring up at the hanging caduceus, mumbling a "yes, alright" along the way. His vision couldn't entirely clarify, and while the essence represented was polarized, not only was it different but it was dim. The whites of his eyes yellowed in the same moment hawkish pupils and stark red irises replaced his blurry blues, narrowing with undue ferocity--a side effect of the switch. "Crucified... serpent?" him and his thinking aloud.
Chiara thinks that maybe Neo has lost a few more of his marbles than he was letting on. She'll follow him inside, "Um...I don't really think that's what that represents..." She's looking around before tentatively calling out, "Ferous? Are you here?" That was really the only way she knew how to get in contact with Ferous, though she expected the spirit to be quite busy.
A familiar voice was heard before seen. "He's right, you know. The caduceus represents the snake's own crucifix, sweetheart." the leather clad figure who stepped from out of nowhere between them was out of season with the jacket. The presence, familiar yet unwelcome, had evoked attention immediately. "it represents--" ///// the finer, more scholarly version interjection, "an imperfect entity, hung, and divided so that the blackened serpent is left to its cross, and the beautiful blue dragon flies away. But they are henceforth bound by fate." ///// Ferous didn't look pleased with being corrected. Instead, the focus went to Chiara, choosing not to engage or entice Qinglau, who seemed curious. "What do you need?"
Chiara flushed at being caught being wrong. "Oh..." She'd frown at Qinglau, "I...what?" She's really got no idea what Neo is blathering on about, and she'd look at Ferous, "He was worried to come in without an invite. I told him it'd be okay since the temples are a public place..." She'd shrug, "You remember my tutor don't you? I ran into him today at the cafe."
She'd look back at Neo, "This is the one I've been telling you about." Oh dear, Chiara was talking about you Ferous, be afraid.
She'd look back at Neo, "This is the one I've been telling you about." Oh dear, Chiara was talking about you Ferous, be afraid.
"I would say I don't recognize the similarity, yet..." qinglau's eyes drifted to the stave overhead. //// hopefully that meant he missed the way Ferous boggled, looking shocked between Chiara and Qinglau and the staff. "It isn't...ugh." Ferous stopped midsentence. "Yes, I remember. He had more time to tend to you than I did. It seems that's becoming too common." ///// Qinglau hiked a brow. "Either my local dialect is confused, or I am entirely." he was looking to meet a wife, not some brusque and moody fellow. Of course, he didn't clarify his confusion. //// Ferous spoke up, "Starting lessons again now that your hellion is dead?" Ferous pulled no punches. The opposite hierarchy was weakened. ///// ...an odd twinge came from the blue one that even surprised Ferous, but he said nothing. It wasn't what he had expected in meeting. He couldn't label who Ferous was, or how he was known, or why a replica of his now-gone servant's staff was there, but he'd been identified. Oops. "I'll wait outside."
Chiara honestly has no idea what's going on between the two of them, and she's just watching them back and forth, until Qinglau says he would wait outside. "I don't..." She's honestly confused and she doesn't understand the hostility. "What's going on?" She looks hurt, and a little sad. Hadn't she been through enough lately without her tutor and her lover suddenly arguing with each other for what appeared to her to be no reason?
Ferous watched the other leave, gripping the bridge of her nose. "He's an old enemy. Harmless in and of himself and yet--"//// The ice duke lingered in the door, "And yet my boy challenged his own purpose to aid you, and is gone." and with that the door was shut. //// ...and Ferous twinged. "... You didn't come here to hear us argue. what is it?"
Chiara frowned at Ferous, "You were talking about his son? That wasn't a very nice thing to say." She'd shake her head, "I told you, he wanted permission to come in and I guess he doesn't have it." She isn't sure what to down now, "If he's an enemy then why did you tell me to continue studies with him? He wants me to go with him now, to pick up where we left off."
"Tch... He would have been a useful contact... and is no real risk to you. The most I had to worry about was information given about me. Don't pity his son. He was a seductive snake with a very effective plan to negate existence, and created the abomination that rained steel from the sky." that little scholar was somehow the grandfather of apocalypse. He eased out a breath. "Go. I doubt he would put you on something truly catastrophic... And an entity that timeless has no rush when regrouping is in order. Alone he is a relatively harmless old man. Just tell him to come back in before you go anywhere. We'll have a man to man." ...ish.
Chiara seemed upset about something that Ferous had said, but she didn't comment. "Alright." She'd tell him to come back in. Nothing else was said on anything that Ferous had told her, "Might as well do that now, I know you're busy." So unless Ferous stopped her, she'd head back out of the temple, towards Neo. "She wants to talk to you." She'd gesture towards the doors, and once that was done, she'd take a seat on the temple steps. If they took longer than a few minutes, she was probably going to be running an errand of her own while they spoke.
Chiara only had a few minutes. It was typical "polite" threats of what would become of Qinglau if he hurt her, even if Ferous knew better, and so on. Qinglau could not afford a war over something so trivial, or pointless, nor had he ever been a fool. Though, he did walk out holding his jaw. Ferous seemed disgruntled, but gestured Chiara in. "He lives in a parallel plane, so I won't see you for a bit. A little love?" still, Chiara could probably stand for a vacation.
Chiara would bit sitting on the steps with her tote bag, debating on running her errand when Qinglau came out. She's watching him and then looking back at Ferous, popping in. "I don't know if I'll have time to stop by Canary's Roost...can you ask Gabriel to pet sit for me?" Well if it was going to be a bit, she didn't want her animals to starve. She would ask herself, but as Ferous knew, Chiara didn't own a phone. She'll then respond to Ferous request, giving her a kiss, and a more lingering hug than she usually did. "I love you." Her cheeks turned a bit pink at saying it outloud, something she'd never been good at doing. "You take care of yourself. I'll come and see you as soon as I get back." She worried about Ferous sometimes.
"Mm... I'd offer to do it myself, but I can't promise availability." as it is, they have extra babysitting to do now. The hold was returned, as werethe other affections. Even... "I... Love you too." the pause was no offense intended to her. It was just as rare to the white-wigged one. Chiara could release at will. //// Qinglau notably... Slid aside, glanced away and adjusted lenses. The pair could have their distance.
