//So let's go.
Leiken's breath hitches slightly and he covers his mouth. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He controls himself and throws his cloak on, grabbing his worn walking stick and Rapier. He fastens the leather sheath around his waist and pulls out the sword slowly. Peering at the reflection of his face he stared into his eyes. He sheathes the sword and walks outside. A man was standing outside the door and looked at Leiken in slight surprise "A-Ah! Leiken, you going somewhe-" He is interrupted by Leiken raising his hand, gesturing for silence. "You have the shop now Poei, I... may not come back from this venture. Please inform anyone who may ask." He tries to speak to Leiken but he walks off. . .
Rumors of a mage, wielding a rapier, is in search of a party, and will pay handsomely for anyone's efforts. He is in the town of Yilor, a Elf settlement, awaiting his Party's formation.
//So let's go.
Corbin looks down at a worn piece of paper and looks up at the village. "Been a while since I've been here.." She sighs and puts the paper in her satchel, pulling her hood of her cloak over her head and walking past the village sign. "Now where did that farmer say he was going to be?" She looks around for a man fitting the description of Leiken.
The streets were crowded as you began to enter the town. The rumors of the Elves being grand and sophisticated creatures all but faded in this town. The walkways began to get smoky with burning torches about and people cooking in their homes. You couldn't help but think to yourself how in the blazes you were going to find a specific person in a crowded town such as this. After some time you entered the main courtyard of the city, a 'Grand' fountain proclaiming the victory of the Elven conquest of the Human lowlands. Surrounding it were shops and houses atop them, streets and roads seem to fan out from this area. You couldn't help but get the feeling you were being watched as you walked over to a nearby Inn. A man with a cloak and Rapier sheathed on his waist, watched you and gestures for you to come closer.
I tilt my head in confusion and look at the strange man, nervous chills going down my spine as my head tells me that he's the guy we're looking for. I slowly walk towards the man. "Are you the one looking for a group?"
The sound of children's laughter in the distance and the usual chatter of merchants fall onto deaf ears as I await your answer, the gentle breeze making strands of my hair dance in the air and making my black cloak sway slightly, revealing my bare and marble pale legs.
Leiken looks up at Corbin and takes his hood off, revealing the rest of his face. "Indeed I am" he nods slightly. "So far your the first one to answer my invitation to join." He looks around the town and chuckles slightly "This town has seen far better days.." He looks back at you with his stern face, there was a faint layer of dust and dirt on his face and hands. He has clearly been out 'Searching' for quite some time now. "Let us go in, discuss the matter over a pint." Before Corbin could even respond he opens the door to the Inn and enters
As I look you over, confirming that you are the man the farmer told me about, a dark cloud moves over the sun, covering the village in darkness and my long ears twitch slightly. I lightly shrug and walk in the Inn, looking around and hearing laughter of drunk men and the shuffling of bartenders and waitresses walking around. I find an empty table and sit down, mentioning to a waitress. "You hungry?"
"Famished, I'll tell you right now surviving off mushrooms and rats for 2 months straight isn't as pleasing as it sounds" Leiken says with a sarcastic tone. He shuffled in the crudely crafted wooden stool and looked your features over as we await our service. The sounds of people laughing and talking were unintelligible apart from the few roaring laughs and simple words such as "The" and phrases like "And than I saw-". He put his hand to his chin and looked at you "Do tell me, what is an Elf doing in the far stretches of the lowlands. Your kind usually strays away from the more lawless parts of your Empire."
I order the special-two giant steaks and mashed potatoes with two pints of beer- and the waitress walks away to finish the order I look at you and pull my hood down, my jet black hair shocking you since all elves have blonde or white hair. "That is none of your concern.." One of my ears flick slightly, my earrings clinking together and I raise an eyebrow. "I should be saying the same to you."
Leiken feels the tips of ears, slightly pointed but not nearly as much as your's. "I'm only a half Elf. My father was a human. My mother was Elven." Leiken takes 3 heaping gulps of the ale and sighs in happiness. "So, name your price, Gold, Silver, a house, anything." He says such a broad statement with a rather calm down, cutting into the steak and glancing up at you. Just now noticing the hair he squints his eyes very slightly but keeps quiet. waiting for your repsonse.
I pick up the steak and bite into it, my sharp teeth ripping the meat. As I finish the bite I look up at you. "So you're an Elandili?" (Half-Elf) I take a swing of my beer and scrunch my nose. "Eugh. This town never had good alcohol.."
He taps his fingers with slight impatience. "Yes, now how do you want to be payed. For your efforts." Leiken seemed rather skittish on the subject of what he was. As if he didn't many people to know.
I look you dead in the eyes and my smile goes away. "130 silver pieces. Can you manage that?"
He seemed to be rather sure as he said "Of course. Now, if we are to work together I believe we should discuss our do's a dont's. If you know my meaning." He stabbed into the hunk of meat and cut a slice off, eating it. The slightly charred outside and tender inside didn't seem to matter to Leiken as he ate his steak like a wolf. Clearly showing how little he has eaten through his adventures. "For example, if there's one thing that I will never do. Is talk to a dwarf, or even get near one. They just... Eugh.."
I burst out laughing, my laugh silencing everyone in the room as I smile widely. "And why's that?" I ask once I calm down, the usual chatter going back to normal
Leiken's stern attitude suddenly switched to a rather humorous tone as he continued "I mean honestly. They're just little bearded devils! That make the finest weapons around! Tell me there isn't anything worse than a man the size of a kid beating you to a pulp at the age of 20!" He laughed slightly and smiled.
I laugh again and smirk. "Ya know, it might be fun working with you. Good sense of humor." I pay for the food and stand. "You got yourself a deal."
Leiken laughs slightly "Thanks, get my humor from my old man, Just like my stubbornness." Leiken smirks and stands with you and extends his hand to yours. "I'm glad. Here I thought you were going to be a hardass elf that wants 400 golds pieces a month."
I snort in laughter. "If I wanted gold I would have gone to Dragon's Gold Mine. And no way in Hell am I going in there." I shake your hand. "So where do we meet up?"
Leiken gestures for you to follow him back outside, he scoots through the drunk crowd of people and out the door. He looked back and closed the door behind you. "I am going to wait in here until we form a more formidable force." He looks around the town again, it slowly becoming less busy as night time drew near. "You may stay here if you wish. I'll be in the Brandback Inn over there." Leiken points to a rather large in on the other side of the courtyard.
