It was a curious looking establishment, deeply hidden in the back end of a large and ritzy downtown boulevard. Tall, dark marble pillars with stark white veining stood proudly underneath a large red awning that led to the double-doored and brass-lined glass entrance; bushy plants were placed strategically beside the doorway in gold-plated urns to embody a classy, yet welcoming feel. The wide, clear windows looking into the shop had various mythical beasts etched onto the panes: a phoenix, a vampire with dripping fangs, a howling gray werewolf lit by the light of the moon, and a griffin poised and ready to strike at its prey. Blue neon lights took the shape of gradually spreading wings against the sign's dark backdrop. They framed the name of the bar, written in swirling pink and yellow letters: 'Hollow's Tale Pub and Club.' A martini glass would light up above the letters each time the "wings" reached their full vertical span.
A sign was precariously sitting in the window for all curious passersby to see: CURRENTLY HIRING! ASK BARTENDER FOR DETAILS!
The actual inside of the bar was a chandeliered area with modern, elegant influences: two flat-screen TVs hung on opposite walls, flashing various pictures over the jet-lacquered wooden tables and chairs that were strewn about in an orderly fashion to contrast the white tiles and red carpet. More potted ferns lined the painted walls, thin and deep black lines sketching out scenes of the city, people, and... Creatures? Yes, the walls had a hidden fantasy underground motif, monsters of all types artfully mixed in behind the sketchy buildings and talking with the human like shapes. Underneath the monochrome mural were low shelves with various amounts of pictures and memorabilia laced among them. Every photo seemed to depict the same person alongside a multitude of other people, mostly famous bar patrons.
The carpet itself led up to the centerpiece of the establishment: a long, fully stocked bar with many brews and non-alcoholic drinks on tap. Bottles of wine, whiskey, brandy, and the like lined the mahogany shelves behind it, their reflections vividly clear against the mirrored wall. Large and sleek swiveling barstools lined with crimson velvet were bolted in single file, the small chair backs facing away from the polished sable bar. A small kitchen was close by to the left, a deep smell of cooking chicken and beef coming from within. It was your usual fancy stop for nice food, fine wine, and a decent chat, a place to schmooze, flirt, and converse with others...
And the bartender on deck is currently in the back. A lone chocolate-skinned woman ties a small ivory apron around her waist in the bar's backroom, muttering about her current work.
"Ugh! They don't pay me enough for this crap," she gripes as she rubs her gloved hands in a massaging manner, cracking her knuckles one by one. She gives a quick glance in the direction of a nearby mirror to make sure her pitch-colored miniskirt and white work shirt were semi-presentable. "I should be out partying, but no, gotta work overtime as always..." She bends backwards to crack her spine, an odd sound coming from someone who looked so young. She takes her time strolling back behind the bar, the heels of her black-patent pumps clacking along the tiles as she passes through the backroom door. "Time to hit the barside again," she mutters to herself, “Wonder when Nire's bringin' that cottontailed butt of hers back to help me keep shop.”
As she snatches a towel from underneath the counter and picks up a glass to polish, the door opens, the shop bell ringing loud enough to catch her attention. She looks up at her next customer and gives the usual trained greeting, her voice trying to be as pleasant as possible despite the clearly urban tones.
"Welcome to Th' Hollow's Tale... Heh. What can I get fer ya?"
OOC: Welcome to the Hollow's Tale, a modern to sci-fi fantasy bar/pub setting that welcomes all types! Vampires, werewolves, demons, angels, aliens, elves, dwarves, drow, deities, original species, humans who do or don't know about their existence, the list goes on... Everyone from any realm or timeline is welcome here! It's not like the pub owner's gonna ask questions unless you catch her interest. This is my very first public RP forum post, so I gotta set a few rules here; that way things won't get too out of hand.
1. If you wanna join the fun, jump right on in! No need to ask if it's okay! Everyone from any realm, genre, or timeline is welcome here, as long as there's a reasonable explanation given!
2. RPR's rules still apply here, so the bar stays PG-13ish! If anything gets too steamy or gory, take it to a PM or fade-to-black/time-skip.
3. No godmodding/twinking/powerplay. If a fight is to break out, no auto-hits. (Ex. Character A takes Character B's arm and twists it, shattering the bone.) Freeform or dice-roll/character sheet mechanics are to be decided among fight participants (preferably via PMs to avoid cluttering the chat) to keep things fair.
4. If you have to stop RPing for an extended period of time, it's best to make an exit. Don't worry: the Hollow's Tale will always be here when you return! If two players separate from the others for their own scene, please make it known that your posts are separate from the rest of the bar so there's no confusion.
5. I might end up making a player limit if a lot of characters show up, so I'll give a heads-up if I have to make a cut off somewhere.
6. Have fun! That's why we're all here, after all~
These rules and notes will be subject to change, so always keep an eye on the master post just in case.
Notes on the Hollow's Tale:
• The Hollow's Tale accepts any sort of currency aside from bartering. So bring on the gold, jewels, paper bills, strange looking trinkets that count as currency, etc... Just don't give us animals or living things. We don't accept those.
• As long as you pay for your meal, the barkeep doesn't care if you're a minor or not. (But she will show you the non-alcoholic menu.) So it's highly suggested that you come in with payment beforehand.
• Lexi is the proprietor of the pub, and currently one other waitress, one chef, and two part timers make up the Hollow's Tale Staff: a chipper bunny girl named Nire, a chubby Chinese woman named Mei-Mei, a shy thing named Creatia, and a stoic man named Maxwell.
The Hollow's Tale is always looking for other waiters, bar staff, and cooks to help man the bar in their absence, so don't be afraid to ask the bartender for more info! (But it's a good idea to ask me OOCly and play it out ICly before Lexi says you can work here. I don't do auto-accepts.)
• Bar fights will tend to happen here depending on how events play out; however, damage is automatically repaired after a few minutes via a special enchantment placed on the bar property. With that in mind, it's not advised to try and destroy the entire building: it'll take a day or two for it to be restored to its original condition, depending on how extensive the damage is.
Special Event in Play: It's been a great run so far, hasn't it? However, after a few life events and reassessing my priorities, I have no choice but to shut down the Hollow's Tale with a heavy heart. I love the people in here, and I'm so glad that you all enjoyed yourselves, but I have to move on. Maybe when I'm a bit more organized, I can start this party up again! But until then, it's been fun! Happy RPing! --Lucree

(Hope you don't mind having me here!)
Hawk and Wing were intimidating figures. Both of them stood over 6 feet and were well-muscled. Their wings just made them look bigger. Hawk wore a worn-out poncho that fit awkwardly over folded wings. He trailed behind his twin sister, chose a table near a wall, and took a seat. He fit his speckled wings over the back of the chair and turned his head away from the rest of the customers.
Wing was definitely the more imposing of the two. Her wings weren't tucked as small and she carried a damaged sword overtly at her belt. She leaned against the table, looked around with a little smile. "You want anything?"
"Water."
"Boring."
"You can drink if you want," Hawk commented quietly.
"I can and I will," Wing agreed. Not giving time for the waitress to notice them on her own, she raised a hand in the air to flag her down.

Just as Lexi made it duly known that she was coming to take their order, another figure hurried into the bar, wearing a similar outfit to the bartender's, if not a bit more... Frilly in terms of her shirt. The only thing that stood out about her was that she was covered in white fur, floppy rabbit ears pinned back with a pink ribbon as she brushed a bit of tawny hair out of her eyes. "Sorry I'm late, hun," she said in a soft Southern drawl, reaching over the bar counter to grope for something, "the bank was packed. Had me waitin' for hours!"
"So that's what took ya so long... But you just in time. We got some new customers," she motioned to the table with the two imposing figures, giving a curious glance at the female of the duo before continuing to wipe the glass she was holding. "Show 'em the Hollow's Tale charm, eh?"
"Yes, ma'am!" The bunny girl replied cheerfully before finally retrieving what she was looking for: a notepad and pen along with a few menus. Straightening up her outfit, the low heels of her custom-made flats clomped along the floor as she made her way to the table. "Welcome to the Hollow's Tale~!" She beamed with enthusiasm as she handed them each a menu, "I'm Nire, and I'll be your cute waitress for the while! What can I get for y'all today?" She clicked the pen to ready herself for writing as she continued, "We gots a Valentine's Day Special going on: specialty drinks are half price! May I recommend the Astral Plane Popper? Sure to send you flyin' past the stars~!"

Wing grinned at Nire, already liking the girl's attitude. She didn't sit, staying leaning against the table. She had an accent of her own, though it was much harder to identify. "I'll try it. ... And since it's half off, we'll take two."
Hawk shot her a glance, then turned violet eyes to the waitress. "And a glass of water."
Hawk shot her a glance, then turned violet eyes to the waitress. "And a glass of water."
Nire quickly wrote down their order, a giggle laced in her voice as she confirmed their choice. "Two Astral Plane Poppers and a tall, cold glass of water coming up! If y'all need anything else, just give me a holler!" Giving an adorable curtsy to the two, she then turned her attention to the raven-haired woman at the bar. Compared to most of her customers, some already gathered around the counter in various states of drunkeness, Lexi seemed a bit more normal of the two, if not a lot more rowdy as the following conversation begins.
"Oh, Lexi~! Two Plane Pops and a glass of water for Table Five!" Nire called out, gaining a lot more enthusiasm out of the bartender.
"Two poppers already? Who's dyin' tonight?" She exclaimed as she grabbed two chilled shot glasses from the counter and a black bottle from the mirrored shelves, setting to work with a flashy sort of skill. She always did like to entertain customers, and flipping around glasses and bottles before serving drinks was her specialty.
"Lexi, no one's dying... It's just an order," Nire explained as she went to tend to the other customers.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah... Gotta give the usual warning then." The drinks were layered with three different kinds of alcohol and a few drops of some odd, sweet smelling concoction from a potion flask. As a finishing touch, a snap of her fingers towards each of the glasses set the liquid in them aflame with a crackling and sparking purple fire. Did she have a lighter in her hands? Regardless, she took it upon herself to serve the two drinks and the ice water herself.
Traipsing from behind the bar with a strut in her step and a tray with the freshly made booze in one hand, the other was placed on her hip as she approached the table. "Two poppers and a water, but... You guys new around here?" She asked while placing the water on the table. "Ya certainly ain't lookin' like my regulars, that's for sure." Handing over the two drinks, she gave a small aside as a mere afterthought, assuming the drinks are for the female of the group.
"Oh, uh, watch out. Best to drink this crap while it's hot and... Yeah, don't be ready to leave the barside sober anytime soon once you down one of these babies. One of our strongest drinks." She said this with a ton of pride in her tone, as if she was glad of that fact.

"No, we're hardly regulars." Wing paused. "And by that, I mean neither of us have ever been here before in our whole lives." She shrugged; her brown wings moved with her broad shoulder. "Just looking for a place to catch our breath, you know?"
She glanced at the drinks. She pushed one towards Hawk and he made a point of pulling the water even closer to him. The warning made her hesitant - she was, technically, on duty. Her brother wouldn't approve if she got drunk, but also wouldn't say anything about it.
She frowned, then shrugged again, then smiled. "I'm sure I can handle it. I'm a tough lady."

"Knew it! Outta towners~! Love me some new folk," Lexi grinned as she hooked the empty tray underneath her arm. "Trust me, you chose a kickin' place for a quick fix!" Amber eyes smiled upwards at Wing's next comment before she gave a wry, devious chuckle to the winged woman.
"Really now? Let's see how tough you are after that shot, honey," she quipped teasingly, a sly grin playing on her lips as she got a better look at them both. Warriors, maybe? The male still seemed stoic, and the girl was one after Lexi's own heart. Not bad at all. If not for the fact the hidden phoenix had a job to do, she'd stay to ask more probing questions.
"But uh, since ya some newbies to the area, if y'all lookin' for a guide, I can give ya th' hookup. Know a few faces round 'ere, y'know what I mean?" She offered casually, letting her weight shift to one side.

(Hiya. May I join? If so, how can I start? I'd love to roleplay with you guys.)
(Speaking for myself that'd be rad if u guys joined!!)
(also mfw I forget Wing is missing an arm like UH @ ME THATS A LITTLE IMPORTANT)
Hawk took a drink from the water glass and answered before Wing could. "We don't plan on staying for very long."
Wing didn't argue, nodding her head instead. She glances at the drink and lifts her sharp chin, setting her hand on the table at the base of the glass. "Yes. And if this is as 'tough' as you say it is, I doubt I'll be the best company. ... And he isn't the best company in general."
Hawk didn't even look bothered by the comment. He took another drink and ignored Wing's crooked smile. She seemed friendly enough but, even when she smiled, she looked a bit sinister, with intense brows and thin bright eyes and a hooked nose. Not to mention the scars lining the bottom right half of her face and that had overtaken the stump of her right shoulder.

((@Cliff: Of course you can join in!
@Ace: You can join in at any time; all you have to do is just post your character entering into the bar. Why he's there is totally up to you!))
"Aw, what a shame~" The barkeep teased in muted delight, "Though to be frank wit' ya, I ain't the best company either." That last line was accompanied by a playful wink as her waitress finally caught her attention.
"Miss Lexi! Another shot at Table Nine!" Nire called out suddenly, making Lexi's stupid grin falter.
"Ugh..." She could only give an exasperated look before letting it fade into her usual demeanor. "So yeah, let me know if y'all need anythin' else off th' menu! We'll be sure to... Make you guys at home, hmm?" she cooed before being forced to make her leave back to the bar. She was just having fun with them too, but work was always more important than shooting off questions to new people.

(Cool! Hopefully I can make use in this roleplay!)
Gustav walks into the bar, in hopes of escaping the crowd of people outside. He was panting, as he walked inside, he really needed a drink.
He walked over to the bar table and sits down at an empty stool, he sighs, and holds his head in his hand, waiting for a bartender to serve him. He looks up, and looks around the bar.
"Thank god I got away from that." He said to himself quietly. I'm just not used to this." He sighed, and continued to wait.

Wing nodded as the waitress went off. Still leaning on the table instead of sitting, she picked up the glass, taking a good luck at its contents. She took a wary sip, then coughed. "Huh. It's good. You should try some."
Hawk didn't lift his eyes from his glass. "Maybe," he replied, in a way that implied, definitely not.
Before taking another sip, Wing surveyed the newcomer. After reaching the impression that he wasn't a threat, she took another sip, longer this time, and toughed it out.

Just as Lexi rounded back barside to make that order, another person had made themselves home at the counter, though he looked like a nervous wreck. More like he looked like he nearly got hit with a car and survived in Lexi's opinion. Regardless, she stepped in front of him to grab his attention while working on the next shot and handing it over to Nire soon after.
"Yo. Welcome to the Hollow's Tale~" A grin and a flirty wink accompanied her next statement, "Ya look new around here, kid. Outta town? Just moved in, what?" As she listened to his response, she retrieved the towel she had dropped on the floor by accident before slinging it over her shoulder. As soon as she posted her own cheeky reply, she went right in to ask the following:
"What's your poison? We're havin' a sick half-off special on booze right now."
In the meantime, Nire returned to the two winged siblings with a smile on her face as she graciously asked if they wanted anything to eat. "Is there anything else you two'd like? Maybe a down-home appetizer with those drinks?" She held the now empty tray against her body as she waited for a response from either of them.

Arethusa flittered into bar in her fairy form, which made her about 4 inches tall, and easily missed unless looked for. She had been traveling, and heard about this bar from its excellent reputation. She happily flew over to the bar and landed on it, looking at all the drinks she could see. She was unsure what to drink, or what she would be allowed to, and she wasn't sure if anyone would even be able to see her in this form.
He smiled at the women that had just approached him, "Oh, i'm just visiting for a few months." He said, looking back to make sure no one had fallowed him, he sighed, fixing his messy hair.
'I'll take your strongest." He said, leaning a little against the table.

"Maybe later," answered Wing with a smile , apparently doing the speaking for the both of them. "Thank you."
She tipped back her glass and took a longer drink. She visibly held back a cough, instead taking a deep breath and cringing. "Wow. Hawk, you really have to try this."
"We'll see," he replied, not looking up.
When Wing looked up, her sharp eyes registered something that glittered. She blinked and squinted, but couldn't pick it up again. Now wary, she took another little sip.

"All right then!" Nire nodded, "Just holler for ol' Nire if you need anything, hmm?" With a cute curtsey, she scampered off to wait on a surly dragon nearby, the glint not catching her attention at all.
"Strongest, huh? Bad day?" She assumed as she bent to retrieve a large glass. As she listened to her customers' responses, she proceeded to reach behind her back towards a shelf and grab a jet black bottle. Popping the cap open, she proceeded to mix the gentlemen's drink in front of him, switching bottles on the fly as a way to entertain the wary looking male. Soon, she placed a concoction seeming blacker than the bottle it came from; the liquid slowly gradated to red as it reached the top in front of the man. "You want strongest, you got strongest. One Reaper's Play Toy, served neat. I hope ya got a pal or two ta pick ya up," she suggested with a wink.
That glistening spark also caught her attention before it settled into her eyesight as a small fae landing on her bartop. Her eyes instantly glittered in an odd way as she addressed the tiny fairy. "Ain't you the most adorable thing~" she cooed. She apparently had a soft spot for cute things... But her tone of voice could also be mistaken for sarcasm at the moment. "Welcome to the Hollow's Tale, sweet thang. What can I do ya fer?"

Arethusa giggled and nodded as she listened to Lexi, her eyes still on the rows of drinks. "Hm.... I don't know.. what do you recommend?" She asked in a quiet melodious voice as she looked over at Lexi.
Wing set her drink down and tapped the table gently to get her brother's attention; he glanced up. "You see something over there?"
"Over wh..." He caught sight of Lexi, apparently talking to nothing. No, wait... His eyebrows lowered and he squinted. "... I have no idea."
"You think there's, like, a tiny little person there?" Wing asked, picking the Astral Plane Popper from the table again, swirling it in the glass. "Do you think they've got magic? Like, some sort of poison? ... Maybe it's just a talking insect." She turned her head to look at Hawk. "Do you think it's strong or could I kill it by slapping it?"
She was talking louder than was polite, but instead of saying anything about that, Hawk just shrugged and looked away again.
