Hello! I'm new here, and I was looking for a new place to house my beloved decade old character. See my profile for more RP history info and a look at him.

I was trying to get a feel for the climate here. I do hope I end up enjoying it and making some new friends.

I'm an English tutor, and I don't actually mind bad writing so much as it's fun and heartfelt, so don't be afraid of that.

I've been roleplaying for over a decade and am excited to jump back into it.

I had a few questions like:
-What is the most common type of roleplay here? It seems like there's a lot of fantasy, but I see a mix.
-What is the general target audience here? More males or females? What age range is most common would one say?
- Have most of the members been here for a long time?

I understand if these aren't really answerable.
Hullo! Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the site! I hope you're enjoying your stay here so far and that its been a fun experience! :)

Too answer your questions, from my own personal experience and observations,
1. I would say that the rp's here are pretty diverse. I only really lurk around on the 18+ bored as my own writing tends to be a little more graphic so I don't want to offend any young eyes, but there are tones of different rp! I'm pretty sure whatever you want to get an rp going about post a thread and you'll have at least one person respond

2. General target audience depends on where you're looking. for more adult topics and such the 18+ is really good, just keeping things separate and safe there, and I haven't been on the general rp search forum so I can really say for there.
As far as genders go I've seen a good even mix so far in my time being here, male, female, otherwise identifying.
Age ranger for players of characters? Player wise I've run into mostly young adult and college age people though there are older folks about. Character wise most everyone seems to never go about mid to late twenties from what I've noticed.
3. I would say most members i''ve run into since joining have been around on here for a while, I myself only just joined not too long ago but there are plenty of veterans of the site around!
Hey, welcome to RPR! :)
Welcome to RPR! I like your username! Botulism is really interesting.

I haven't been here long enough to give you a definite answer to your questions...which I guess answers your third question, lmao. New members come and go all the time. As for roleplay genres, it seems to be a mixed bag here. If you make a thread in the Looking for RP forum I'm positive you'll find someone.

Good luck! Let us know if you want to know anything else.
Welcome to the rp! ^^

Cheers, man! I imagine I'll only be hanging around in 18+ sections as well, just because from browsing and the nature of my characters, I don't seem all too inclined otherwise.

I love your intro and your thoughtful questions. You are most welcome to RPR! :)

We try to provide the tools for whatever kind of RP a person wants to do; loose fluffy fantasy to crunchy research sci fi, pure free form collaborative writing to complicated strict dice mechanics, anywhere in between. So long as everyone is enjoying themselves, it's a valid kind of RP to us. There are some general patterns, like a lot of the more serious stuff ends up in Groups or PMs and the more casual stuff tends to the public forums, but there's exceptions to everything.

In practice, fantasy is definitely a favorite, but there's lots of genres percolating all the time.

We don't have a targeted gender audience, but the last time I checked, of people who have declared a binary gender, we tend about 60% female. Age ranges are absolutely all over the map. We have players in their teens and players in their 60s. Average age hovers in the 17 - 25 range. Again I notice younger folks tend to like the public forums and older folks tend toward groups and PMs.

We have plenty of long term players and plenty of newcomers. We try very hard not to be cliquish and to remain welcoming to "newbies." We all were new to RP at one point, and there's probably still styles of RP that even the most experienced among us would be new to. :)

Well you're just wonderful.
I feel often older in these settings, so that's nice to know.
I look forward to getting back into the game with forum-based RP, though. Thanks for your thoughtful response. I appreciate your use of the word "percolating".
