She gave him a hollow glare, but said nothing.

"Your friend won't last much longer, I'd recommend you go find him, girl." The voice disappeared soon after, as did the bodies of the mother and child.

Axl's hands were shaking, as he grabbed his axe.

Wisteria cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted one of the song lyrics she had heard Axl say before, and listened for any signs of where he was.

Overcome with grief and anger, Axl was unable to hear her. "Mother, father, why do you scorn me so? I've done nothing wrong so far...sure, my music might be a bit loud, but it's nothing evil like you say...nor am I evil for it..."

Hearing his voice, she followed it to where Axl was. The angel spotted him, and approached cautiously as though he were a cornered animal. “Axl?”

Axl didn't reply, on his knees. His spirit was broken, tears streamed down his face.

“Axl,” Wisteria repeated, voice stern and forceful this time.

"What is it?" Axl spoke in a voice harsher than intended, averting his gaze elsewhere, his hat strewn across the hall.

Unfazed by his tone, she walked right up to him, and slapped his face hard.

Axl didn't respond, looking away from her. He stayed right where he was, awaiting for whatever she had to say.

Not speaking, the angel hugged him. "It. Wasn't. Real." She let him go, staring at him with a blank expression. Only her eyes displayed the wariness the encounter with the boy and creature made her feel. Their usual hard and determined shine was now lack-luster, dull, and tired.

Axl hugged her back, "I'm sorry for being so stupid...but, I know for sure that's what they feel... Disappointed in the one that disowned his name for the one of a rocker." Tears streamed down his face.

“I’ve know soldiers worse than you with families proud of them. Trust me, you aren’t a disappointment.”

"T-Thank you..." Axl let go, trying to pull himself back together, ashamed that he broke down like that.

Wisteria gave a curt nod. “I have the wing. Are we done?”

Axl revealed his, "Y-Yeah, I think so." Returning to his feet, "We're to head towards the western forest to meet with his older sister."

“Lead on,” she responded.

He started to head off, recovering from the emotional battle.

As they went, Wisteria kept a certain distance from Axl, not because of his reaction, but because of her own. It was shameful. She could have saved them both, instead, she had watched them both die, one in her arms. What a pitiful, sniveling excuse of a cadet she had been.
