"It's been a few years since the last time I went there." Kyoya clutched the gem that was in his pocket.
"We could go there," she offered. "I, personally, love their bacon burgers."
"What are we waiting for?" He asked, "Let's go get a few bacon burgers!" Kyoya's voice was a bit more excited than earlier.
Laughing, Moon Drop shook her head as Seth's ears perked up at the mention of meat. "Then we have our next destination."
"Wonderful! Afterwards, we should probably start prepping for school, unless you'd want to take off to the last Gemstone." Kyoya said in response, smiling.
“Hm, let’s see: Going on another adventure to more old, beautiful ruins, or going to school.” Her tone was joking and sarcastic.
"Honestly, I have no idea what lies with it. The only thing I could tell you it's supposedly on a dark island twenty miles south of Serentias's coast." He said, laughing.
“The coast? I’ve never seen the ocean before.” Moon tried to imagine how it’d look.
"Neither have I. Most Serentians avoid the coasts due to local superstitions." Kyoya had stars in his eyes. "I've got one more stone to collect...the Ruby of the Cosmos."
“And what does this gem do?” Her curiosity grew with each jewel they came upon. Surely, they were meant to be used together, but what for? She hoped she’d get to see the result of the union when they were obtained.
"Each gem can control certain elements when inserted in to their respective slot on the ring, like the Amethyst controls darkness. According to my mother, when each gem has been reunited, the wearer will be granted a powerful sword. I've got no idea what the last gem does." Kyoya said, inserting the Amethyst, causing the ring to shine in a deep black color.
"That sounds like a myth shades have," Moon said.
"I think remember my mother telling me stories of an old alliance by some of our ancestors with the shades." He said in response, "The original creator of the ring collaborated with a shade to create something that would allow humans and witches to live together."
“The version I heard fell along similar lines. A powerful shade managed to adapt to use a variety of affinities, and used them to make jewels that contained magical properties. There was no mention of what she did with them, or what became of the gems, but it’s said they’d one day be reunited. Afterward, peace and prosperity would wash over the many species at war.”
"Perhaps this is why we get along so well. I've even heard rumors that the island we're going to was home to these humans and shades, with shades potentially still living there."
Other shades? The witch had never seen another shade or witch before other than her mother. “Really?”
(brb!)
(brb!)
"I can't say for sure, I'm only relaying the rumors I've heard. That's part of the reason people avoid the coasts..." Kyoya said, a bit softer.
(I'll be here.)
(I'll be here.)
Even if it was a slim chance, Moon wanted to check. What would her mother think if she had the opportunity to seek out other shades and she didn’t take it? With resolve in her eyes, she smiled at Kyoya. “Then let’s be on our way.”
(Back!)
(Back!)
"If we keep on this path we'll reach the coastline in less than an hour. We'll need to be careful on the coast, rumors have spread about some strange sea monster attacking people who stray to close, if you ask me they're just hitting the skooma again." Kyoya smiled back at her, gently letting her hand go.
Drop had forgotten he had been holding her hand until he let it go. “If there’s water, I can always freeze it.” She made a small laugh at her words. It was true, she’d frozen ponds and lakes so her parents and her could ice skate in her childhood.
