"That's why shades are so strong. It produces more quality and quantity at an efficient pace. There's a down-side to using the language, though.." Moon dropped her gaze at this.
"Does it put you guys under some kind of trance or something? And, I suppose that explains why despite being so cu---" His voice cuts off immediately, returning to a deep red color, almost as dark as the apple in his hand.
Blushing, the witch shook her head. "The power of magic gained from Ogojohat tempts witches to misuse their gifts, but doesn't otherwise change our personality much. I'm sure you've heard the law of equivalent exchange. One can't make something from nothing, even for shades. The magic does different things to each of us. It takes the nutrients from anything I eat, which is why I'm so malnourished my bones are visible."
"Yeah, it's an old law of alchemy, one cannot make something out of nothing. It's a principle I follow, myself." Kyoya said, understanding most of what she said, his normal color slowly returned.
"Exactly," she smiled. "Vioz means 'head' in English."
"That's interesting. You shades have a pretty colorful culture, huh?" Kyoya said as he finished his meal.
"From what I've been told, yes," Moon nodded. She had eaten three berries and two bites of meat, giving the rest to Seth.
"Um...remember what I asked just a few moments ago?" Kyoya asked, jumbling his words around.
"Which part?"
"...I need to talk to you about something."
The heat dusted her cheeks in a blush, and she nodded timidly.
"I-I think I have fallen for you....like those two said, I think you really have stolen my heart..." Kyoya said, his voice trailing off.
Now she was as red as Kyoya, her heartbeat thudding loudly in her ears. There was a short silence as Moon couldn't think of a response at first, but she finally figured out what she'd say. "..And you've taken mine."
"..I'm glad, I don't know what it is about you, but you just pulled me in..." Kyoya said, still as red as a Kansas City Chiefs home game, it felt as though his heart would burst out at any moment.
"You try to cheer me up whenever I get upset, and said you'd help me work on controlling my magic even though you know I could snap at any second." Drop ran her fingers over her spell book that rested in her lap.
"You've stuck with me despite the danger I've put you through...you've laughed with me, cried with me, all in all been a great person to me...gave me someone I could truly call a friend, and I'm grateful for that." He said, smiling slightly.
"You're my first friend I've had since my home town discovered I was a witch, and have been my best one by far. If you held a blade to my throat, I wouldn't consider the fact you intended to hurt me for a second." She smiled down at the leather-bound cover.
"Thank you for staying with me long enough to call you a friend...it means more to me than anything..I'll walk to the ends of the Earth if you ask of me. I don't know whether our meeting was purely coincidental or something preordained by the gods, but I'm glad we met..."
"I'm glad, too," she replied softly with content.
Kyoya scooted over closer to her, "I've spent most of my life alone...and then you showed up and completely stole my heart, I don't know what kind of spell you used, but hopefully it never wears off."
