So, being relatively new to RPR, I like to throw out a few questions to the community to get a feel for the peeps around me, and hopefully make a few RPing friends along the way. Yes even you over there in the corner sniffing paint chips. Also I figured I would add my own answers (in italics under each question) to start it off so someone isn't like "Hey OP, why didn't you answer your own questions!" *shakes fist*
BTW, keep in mind that these questions can pertain to PbP as well as table-top RPs.
So without further delay:
There ya have it peeps, some questions that will hopefully get the gears churning and some community involvement happening. So have fun with it And don't forget to include your favourite die roll, just because the option is there at the bottom and you can't help but to press it!

So without further delay:
- How do you "build" your character?
Very carefully, because I don’t take RPs for granted. But I guess personality-wise, most of my characters are based off of me, and the other part from people I’ve met and situations I’ve been in over the years. I think a person’s environment can really mold some very interesting archetypes.
- What inspires you to start writing?
Coffee. Oh yeah, and the fact that ideas are constantly streaming in my head and if I don’t put them down SOMEWHERE, then my brain will take it’s aggression out on my skull, which usually means bad things.
- What was your favourite RP moment ever? Why was it your fav? And what made it stick in your memory all this time?
Bleh, why did I ask this question?... Well, I’d say the most memorable was a “World of Darkness” RP I was involved in for about a year, which had an awesome GM who crafted amazing plots like it was nothing, and I’m pretty sure he used deep magic to accomplish it! But my fav moment had to be during a scene where my Vampire character was taken captive by a clan of sadistic Vamps (Really, are there any other kind?), knocked unconscious with a shovel, and buried to an unknown depth, only to wake up and have to claw her way out while literally dying of thirst for blood. (for those of you familiar with the WoD, you’ll prob recognize that “rite of passage”). Anyway, the GM had me make roll a “self control” check, which failed, and next thing I know I have no control over the fact that my blood thirsty raging vampire just dug herself out of a grave next to a small church full of people out in the middle of nowhere. Needless to say, it didn’t end well for them…
So I suppose the fact that it was the first time I'd lost control of my character and just had to sit back and watch the carnage unfold kept that scenario locked away in my head. Crazy stuff.

rolled 1d20 and got a natural 16. After the modifier of +5, got 21
Charisma roll! Because we could all use more of it sometimes!
A very interesting topic! I actually had to sit down and take a few minutes off to think about this.
How do I build my characters? I usually start with what appeals to me in terms of mindset, appearance, and so forth. If the character I'm playing does not appeal to me on a personal level, if it doesn't 'click', then even if it's the most interesting character of all time (fat chance), I'm going to have a rotten time portraying them. As my interests come in phases, each phase has me create a few characters that are completely different.
And, of course, books, movies, and shows. Whenever I see something that I find really cool and interesting, I write the rough idea of it down so I can later on integrate it into my RP.
What inspires me to start writing? That's a tricky one. Usually music. But I can't write when I'm listening to music, it distracts me way too much, so I need to listen to the music and think about it before I even consider starting to type. And yeah, caffeine always helps.
My favorite RP memory? Honestly, a few come to mind, though most of them aren't memorable in the good sense. That said, there are a couple of ones that I thoroughly enjoyed, like in a MUD I played, where my character, a flawed yet good-hearted Paladin, was once tricked into being promoted by his incredibly sneaky superior, an older Paladin. I didn't know what was going to happen; my character came in worried he had messed up again, and after a number of tests of valor and wisdom disguised as punishments, some of each impossible to complete, he was told he was going to become a high-ranking knight within the order. Upon that realization, I got to play a grown man stuttering and sobbing in thanks at his father figure - something I never got a second chance to do.

The ever-present Wisdom saving throw, the harbinger of horrible, horrible things about to happen to the character.
Aaaa, fun~ I enjoy answering questions like these. TT v TT!
Most of the time, characters just come to me. Like, if I'm planning something, or get inspired by something, I can come up with the idea of a character pretty quickly. Once I get the short idea of the character in mind, then I go onto the planning -- what made them this way, or why do they think that way, or what influenced them to certain habits and things. Sometimes it starts with a name, sometimes it starts with the character appearance, sometimes it starts with a personality. It really just depends what hits me in that moment.
Recently, however, I've been doing my best not to make new characters just cos I already have so many I haven't drawn yet.
Generally my fiancé or friends. Sometimes a game or episodic series that I'm really into. If it strokes my inspiration in a good fashion, I'll be good to start writing and planning. Like, recently, I've been working with a friend on our comic ideas, and it feels really good to be that inspired about something, because I haven't been in a long while.
I think... my favourite moment in RP is when I got my Pokémon character to meet up with this dude's Pokémon character back when we were participating in a string of events back in early 2010. I can remember a lot of the details that our characters shared, but... the most important thing to have come out of those RP moments is the fact that this dude and I eventually got together, and we've been as such since October of 2010 till now.

Sure, let's go with a hopeful Charisma roll.
@SeraphicStar - Wow, that's quite a memorable scenario, and no doubt opened up a different aspect of RPing that you thought you'd never approach, which is to say being humbled. Because who wants to RP a humbled character (Paladin or not) when we see ourselves as elitists and unmovable? lol
@FreeJayFly - That's awesome to have close friends to inspire and nurture your creativity. Something a lot of us don't always have (me included), but instead seems I've had family/friends who've just thought "Oh well that's cool...soooo when are you going to do something useful with your life and stop daydreaming?"

How do you "build" your character?
Depends on what inspired me to make them. Generally speaking I focus on their background first. People's personalities are shaped by their experiences.
What inspires you to start writing?
Literally anything, anytime, anywhere. I can't turn my brain off. I'm daydreaming like 98% of the time. Music and pictures are the most frequent culprits (though music can also be a distraction).

The first time I played D&D, I had a demi-demon who looked like a little girl (she was really bitter about it). She would hoodwink civilians for money and it was fun to come up with dialogue for her. This was also the same campaign where the party rogue stole a merchant's elephant by putting a tiny bag on its head and convincing everyone in the market that it was not an elephant, that there were no elephants in town, and in fact that elephants had never existed. What's an elephant? Who knows. Not us.
In a later D&D campaign I played a male elf, and his charisma (we chose to interpret it as physical beauty) was so high that when our party was underfunded he could just take his shirt off in a crowded area and people would literally throw money at him, lmao. He also seduced locked doors into opening on various occasions. On the other hand, his brother (played by my friend) rolled a critical fail for his charisma stat, and he had to walk around with a burlap sack over his head so that people wouldn't run away from us. His nickname was Sog (short for "Soggy Bread", which is what he looked like).
I don't know. I guess I remember things that make me laugh.
