I know it's in May, but I'm super duper excited for it already!!!

I'm torn between making two cosplays for it, but I might end up doing both. I just bought some materials for one, and I'm going shopping for the rest tomorrow!

I might also end up going two days instead of one this year. ouo
The costume I'm gonna start making tomorrow is Springtrap !
My original idea was going as Bee from Bee and Puppycat, but most of her outfit can be bought and add little add ons to make her look perfect. I wanted to experiment so I might end up going as Springtrap instead if my experiment goes well!

What about you lovelies? Are any of you going this year? Maybe we should hold a little RPR meeting! (If there are a few of us aha)
Also, share your cosplay ideas too!
I've been making my cosplay for a while now, I plan to go as Athena, and I finished making my spear tip two days ago and all I need do is fix it into place on the staff, paint the staff, then finish up the shield I'm making. Although, if I can't get that together in time, I plan to go as a backup as Captain Hook (but this time with a hook not like last time) and see how many photos I can get with the various Rufios and Pans like last time. I usually go one day, which will probably be the Saturday, but if I'm sensible with finances this time round, I could go Friday or Sunday even.

Ahhhh! Gosh, I can't wait to see what you come up with. c: Either way, I'm excited to see your work!

I'm planning on going for two days this time. I've never attended the May event, only ever the October ones. I'm not sure if I'll have the funds for the tickets yet either as I've already spent a ton on making this costume. ;u;

I'm going to be at that convention :)

Oh dude, neat! Will you be going in cosplay, or just to snoop around?

I'm seriously debating having a small RPR gathering there. Just because, why not?
I'm finishing up the spear for my cosplay today, leaving only the shield and Khiton to sort out before my costume is complete.
I should be able to meet up anywhere if I'm given enough time (though I do plan to try to make the Overwatch meet (whenever that is) on the Saturday.
Regardless, a meet up sounds cool!

Heck yeah! Sounds good.

Still working on my Springtrap head. Worst case scenario, I might not be able to complete the torso on time. if not, I intend on wearing a dapper tie and suit+shirt with some ripped pants instead. Hopefully the limbs will be done though!

Heck yeah. At the moment, I'm definitely attending the Saturday. Gotta book it off work, and buy my ticket real soon.
It also really depends if there's enough of us going. if not, if I see a fellow RPR friend I'll run up and say hi instead.

I intend on posting my costume on here once it's done so y'all can meet me!

I'm going as Grand Admiral Thrawn and Cassian Andor, with a friend (she's not on RPR) as Mara Jade and Jyn Erso. Not sure which days we're doing which costumes yet.

We're going to a Star Wars meet around 1-2pm. What time is the Overwatch meet?
TinyCentaur Topic Starter

Ohhhh! Neato! Interesting characters to do as well! c:

Might have to sneak in on the OW meet. Even though I'd be dressed as a murderous furry.

A furry in May? Brave choice :)

Many have told me it was a bad idea to wear such a heavy cosplay in warm weather. But it is my first actual craft, first time making a fursuit (of sorts. FNAF Animatronics count right?) so I'm gonna wear it no matter what the weather. I'm so excited for when it's finished! <3

In that case, might I suggest a hydration pack?

I have one for heavy costumes in warm weather. If you can put some fans in the fur suit head, that would be good too :)
It appears I got the cons mixed and the Overwatch meet is for the October one?? Facebook is confusing on that front, and navigating the con official page is very unwieldy.

EDIT: Through a check on the official site, the Overwatch meet's at 14;30 in front of the boat hotel, which is a blessing as otherwise I would've gone as my Captain Hook cosplay, and that costume is limited to the October con for a reason.

About three years ago there was a really heavy rainstorm on the Saturday combined with really long queues to get in and several suiters got caught out in the rain because the guards refused to let anyone in to shelter, and as a result their suits got badly damaged. Do make sure that you take rain into account if you do go, and maybe bring some duct or gaffer tape so that if your costume does get damaged, you can repair it as the Cosplay Fix table, which should be near the Masquerade area as it was last year.

@Darth - Oooo! That looks quite useful. Not sure if it would fit under the torso bit I'm planning to make, but if I don't end up making a torso I'll just be wearing a shirt. So then it would fit. *Saves for later.*

@Mori - Aw, shame there isn't one in May. Never the less, I'm more likely to be there in October as well. (Lands on my Birthday!)

That is a fair point. Umbrellas are always a good thing, might need to invest in one that's large enough.

No no, there is a meet in May, and I'm still going. I'm gonna be there in October too, but the October cosplay is Captain Hook, but hopefully by then I plan to have a better wig than the one I used last time.

You can get smaller ones, I've got a 1 litre backback that is pretty much flat so it should fit nicely inside the costume.

I remember that storm and getting stuck under the shelter from the Fox up to the bridge leading to the station with a group of Mass Effect cosplayers. We spent a good hour just chatting and avoiding the rain.
I was stuck in a cafe on the riverside somewhere west of the boat hotel before Canning Town station, where I got stuck for about an hour or so. Thankfully the cafe owners were understanding about the situation and didn't kick us all out for not buying any food or drink.
TinyCentaur Topic Starter

Ah gosh. Glad the Cafe was understanding. It's the worst when they're not. :x

I just bought my ticket and booked off the Saturday! So I'm definitely going.
Debating how I'm gonna get there though. I have a car now so I can go alone and bounce around with various friend groups.

Though a lot of folks say going alone isn't the wisest idea. I don't know anyone who's going IRL, which is a shame.
I'll be bringing my younger brother to the con on Saturday, but he's meeting friends for most of the day for a meet. I know a few traders at the stall, and I think some people I knew from uni might be going, but I doubt I'll run into them on the day, as it'll be probably be heaving.
Going alone can be done, but you just have to be smart about what you do and where you keep your coin-purse.
TinyCentaur Topic Starter

Yeah. I might need to invest in some sort of backpack other than a small over the shoulder bag. That's all I have at home.

At least that way I can keep an eye on my stuff if someone wants a picture with me or something. c:
