They've always had to operate on rumours and requests til now. Chasing shadows, trying their best to destroy evil, but evil always seems capable of hiding and disguising itself. But in raiding the halls of wrongdoers, the Paladin finds a boy without a home to return to, who inadvertently reveals -- despite his lawless nature -- he is a perfect travelling companion to a knight for right.
Seeking a paladin for RP. Always wanted to play this character alongside a paladin. I think it'd be interesting and fun, and pretty fulfilling for a Paladin -- but also, in time, challenging for them. NOT seeking romantic or sexual RP.

Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.
Renaissance
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
I would be interested in this pair! I have an elven paladin I designed for a D&D game that never happened, and I think it would be fun to play her against this character.
The structural basics: she's a high elf and was designed as a Neutral Good paladin of Sehanine Moonbow, and functionally/gameplay-wise has an Oath of Vengeance against the undead, but for RP flavor also took an Oath of Devotion to the goddess that she has to follow to keep her powers. This stuff is adjustable if you don't want to use strict D&D stats/powers/terminology, but the core of it would stay the same (a paladin of the elven moon goddess, sworn to hunt and destroy the undead).
The character basics: she's a high elf in the middle of her sixth century, who was called to the service of the moon goddess only a few decades ago, and still isn't sure what the goddess wants with a paladin of her advanced years. She's dedicated to her duty, and more than willing to die in the line of it, but also fairly cautious and conservative and tries to employ common sense alongside her zeal. She's pretty brusque and blunt in action, and has to be relaxed to be super friendly, but she genuinely cares for others and is kind and careful with others even when she's not being nice. I made her Neutral Good for her goddess originally, but she's actually pretty lawful when it comes to abiding to her personal codes and obeying just laws? She just weighs the situation and the fairness of the laws and authorities, and she'd rather come out on the side of good than legal (and she respects others who are faithful to their beliefs even when those conflict with hers). Anyway, I think Bialis would probably hit her caretaking instincts at first, and then if he turned out useful, or to have potential, she'd want to stick with him.
I don't have a character page up for her because she wasn't originally meant to be played on RPR, but I can put one up if what I've said so far interests you! Then you can make a final call on whether you think she'd work.

Super interested. I originally designed this char for D&D as well -- so I'm definitely fine with using D&D elements, though I don't want to stick strictly to their system and stats (One ability of Bialis' somewhat conflicts with D&D rules, unfortunately; he didn't have it when I designed him for the game, but it's pretty important to his design now, especially for this plot!)
Definitely a good match from what you say, though, where they're not too similar to where it would be boring, but where Bialis isn't going to be totally freaked out and trying to get away from her either.
Sorry for the delay in replying; I got overinvested in writing up the character page, since I realized if I tweaked her away from strict D&D stuff I could potentially do multiple things with her on the RPR. ;; I'm replying as her so that you can take a look and see if she still seems interesting in greater detail!
As a side-note, though, because this has been a compatibility issue with people before, I want to let you know that if we do plot together, I'm not a super fast RPer. I work full-time on an irregular rotating schedule, so I just can't write posts every day; I can usually do 2-4 posts a week (more only if they're very short) depending upon my schedule. Figured I'd drop that info early just in case it's a dealbreaker!

Hahaha, that's all right. Actually the page presents a really good opportunity, for the plot I've been considering, which I'm rather giddy about (in the form of her ritual of Insight.)
I work full-time on a very regular schedule which unfortunately occurs during the entirety of RP peak hours most days... so I sort of know your pain. This might have been a dealbreaker when I had more freetime, but at this point I'll pretty much take what I can get! I learned to RP primarily on Furcadia, so I may be used to somewhat shorter posts than some who come from the 1000-word-plus land of forums. Not sure what your definition of very short would be.
As it stands I have a pretty decent idea as to how to start this. My char (as stated in his profile) comes with a fair bit of pre-existing plot and plothooks, many of which are hidden. Your char might be growing a little frustrated with difficulty reliably locating necromancers when merely chasing rumours and stories, some of which are misattributed or just stories, some of which are long-gone to other locations, and through her ritual of insight seeks an omen.
The omens would then lead not just to a new target but a specific captive of theirs.
Ah, I'd be very happy if her abilities work well into your plot! Her own plot is pretty self-evident from her background and her oath of vengeance, but I figured that her enemy being part of a larger web of evil should hopefully feed well into other stuff, plus her other vows oblige her to help others with their troubles.
For me, "very short" would be 200 words or less--I did, in fact, come from exactly that sort of forum, and am still trying to unlearn a lot of bad habits re: word-bloat. My personal average is in the 300-500 word range, but I try my best to match whoever I'm playing with, so I can go longer or shorter depending on your preference. :>
That sounds like a great start! I could definitely see her doing that if her leads ran dry, and then of course she'd have to rescue him--or escape alongside him, if she landed in hot water. It could also potentially give her some good further leads for tracking the necromancers and their associates. Did you have a specific omen, captor, and so on in mind, or are those things we'd generate in-play as we went?

I... truly have no idea what my average is, words-wise. None whatsoever. Never really measured it. It's probably a bit shorter than yours, at a guess, because Furcadia. I am used to taking a GM-like role in RP off of Furc, though; so I tend to spend a bit more time than average defining NPCs and setting.
And because I'm used to taking a GM-like role... I have a specific omen in mind, though not yet a specific captor, and if we can decide on a captor (for purposes of what I'm thinking, got to be some user of darker magic) I would be able to play GM in terms of any dream-visions
Confession: I only know because I went back and fed all my recent RPR posts into a word counter after you asked.
With text RP I'm used to a play situation where both players build off each other to describe setting details, bring in NPCs, etc. as they become relevant (basically adding whatever we wanted in our own posts, so long as we didn't contradict anything the other person already said), but I am totally good with you doing some GM-style stuff with the omens and dream-visions! (And if/when you need the same for Bialis, I have some experience with it as well and would be happy to do so.)
For the captors--there are, of course, necromancers, but my plans (such as they are) for the web of bad guys Pelldea is going after is that they include evil cultists and worshippers of evil gods. So a death cleric or dark warlock could also be potential captors, if one of those would work with Bialis' plot!

Dark warlock may make a good amount of sense! I'm also cool with some collaboration on details, save where it may impact some larger setting details that I need to be a bit... set in stone.
So... in terms of things I need set in stone! This is a map I came up with a while back for the section of the world I've come up with. In more political style RPs, the details of all four can be important, but for an RP like this... I don't really care what you do with any of 'em but Corinth. Corinth is mine to command, so to speak, since I've developed it so heavily in my head.
My original intentions with this map, if you're curious, is to have Norgrad be a land of mainly humans, ruled by humans (and furres... I don't know how ya feel on furres), Corinth (ruled by a human with a quarter-elven son) and Alindar (ruled by humans) be fairly mixed and diverse, and Serengrad ruled and dominated by elves. (Serengrad is by far the one I've least developed, to be honest.) These details can be messed with if you like, outside of Corinth

I like the map, and it all works for me! (And I am okay with furres, my group's got animal-folk in two of our DnD games and I assume they'd be much the same.) Pelldea does have a homeland in her background, and that it's located in some sort of highlands and defeated and absorbed a wood elf kingdom a few hundred years back are both pretty relevant to her backstory and personal development, but if you're okay with it, we could say that Illrya is located south of Serengrad and that she's been traveling steadily north on her quest to uncover the necromancers she's after.

Anything else we should define?
Excellent!
Just for future reference, I know that some of Pelldea's enemies serve a particular evil god (and it's why the necromancer she first encountered went after a shrine of the Lady), but a lot of the network is just people whose goals run together, or are trading favors with each other (yeah sure I'll kick over this inconvenient honest lord for you if you can get me some of these crystals I need for a nasty ritual), so I figure just about anything you need for your storyline, I can work into her stuff. :> I don't even have solid details yet on the evil-god part because when I designed her I was leaving it open for the DM, so I'll come up with more of it as we go along, and can adjust that as is useful for you! I can tell you have more of a specific plotline in mind for Bialis than I do with Pelldea (I have personal growth I want to try to, but the action end of the plot was a lot looser), so I'm happy to roll with most things.
Hmmm. I know that when I expanded out from D&D specifics to the Lady of the Moon, I meant for Pelldea to be worshipping a particularly elven manifestation of her (and she might use some fairly specific epithets like "the White Lady" or "the Lady of Mirrors" or so on, at times!), but that she might well have aspects in other cultures as well, or that other people might look at her and at their own moon goddess and go "huh, is THAT how you worship her down south?"; it's also, vaguely, how I was thinking of gods in general. But it might be good to know how you wanted to visualize gods in the setting! Since with Pelldea's end of the plot, it might play a fairly big role.
...I should also ask what format you prefer to do this in! I'm good with either PMs or a forum thread, whichever works for you.

Haha, it's not so much that I have specific plans for what is to happen with Bialis (I really don't) as that I have specific things set in stone as to what's already happened and there's some elements of the continuity that support that.
That's pretty much how I've treated religion in other continuities, so that works for me. Religion's not a huge element of Bialis' life at this juncture, I originally outlined him as a casual worshipper of Pelor who's recently been losing faith in general.
Goood question. I think thread would be good.

Aaaah, that makes sense! Well, let me know if at any point in-play I do something that will mess with his continuity, and I'll edit/alter it. And I'll do the same if anything pops up that's a problem for me. (I'm a big fan of OOC communication as a plot goes on anyway, just to make sure we're still on the same track. )
Forum thread is good! Do you want to start it, or shall I? And, since you had an omen in mind, do you want to start with the immediate aftermath of the ritual, or start further in and allude back to it? Or at a different point covering Bialis' capture?

Welp, if you were to do a post of the ritual to start us off, I would be able to do a post of the resulting dreams and visions Seems a logical sort of place to start!
Here you are! It's a bit long because I got a little expository, but that's just for set-up purposes.

that is uhhh ok. mine ended up p long too
So I outlined a reply and was halfway through it when I realized that ending it in Entomill was kind of covering a lot of ground.... I was moving to to slide into the action, but I figured I should check in first and make sure you didn't have more dreams or omens or other occurrences you wanted to have pop up before she got there!
(Sorry for the delay, BTW, since it's spring break work has been very busy... I should be faster after Easter.)

It's OK. I put it in Entomill (e.g. the visions and events) because I wasn't sure if we were starting with her off the map or in Serengrad somewhere. If you like it can be in a city further south, like Morenval, but I'm chill with Entomill too. I think I pretty much covered all the visions, and I had no specific ocurrences planned before she got there
I was figuring she was already in Serengrad, so I set her not far from it. Apologies again for running long, though. x_x I swear I'll be less wordy here on out.
