Korra couldnt answer as she watched the man wrapped in black take a step toward the four of them. Instinctivly, she took a step away and pulled away from Daryn in the process. The creature narrowed his eyes as she stepped away. Then the black it was swamped in started to break up into tendrils.

The captain saw and honestly couldnt stop himself from grabbing Korra and shoving her behind him. "Daryn move now," he ordered quickly knowing that Korra would practically die if Daryn was hurt and the captain hadnt warned him.

The creature took two tendrils and they swirled together it a sharp point. Then surged forward aiming straight for Daryn's heart. Before the captain could stop her, Korra shot out from behind him and takled Daryn to the ground just before the tendril piecred through his skin. Now the tendril jus pierced thin air and the tendril quickly pulled back to the creature.

It looked at Korra and narrowed his eyes till they were thin slits. Korra took Daryn's hand and was pulled to her feet by the captain who also pulled Daryn up. "Are you okay?" Korra asked concerned and searched Daryn for an injury.

Daryn didn't see the attack coming until Korra shoved him down to the ground, and then he felt the whiz of something pass over him. He stared up at Korra in shock.

"What the hell was that? We need to get out of here!" For that matter, what had that bounty hunter even been transporting? Or was it a stowaway?

"Alright, time to get out of here!" Eric moved to stand between the creature and Daryn and Korra. He still had the gun since Korra hadn't taken it, and he raised it now, pulling the hammer back, taking aim, and firing.

The creature's tendrils caught the bullet and threw it to the side. Korra looked up towards the hole in the ceiling of this deck and found that the hole was a good tweleve feet up with no way to get up to it.

Korra whistled and suddenly Kyro was squeezing through the hole and gliding down to the floor of the lower deck. Grabbing Korra, he reached up until she could climb out. Then he grabbed Daryn and did the same with Korra helping him up. Then he grabbed the captain then Eric but just as Eric was being helped up by Korra, the creature's tendrils all came together into one large, sharp, spear like thing.

Then they sped forward and before Kyro could react, the tendrils broke through his scales and pierced his heart then went through the rest of the way and the tendrils came out from behind. Korra had just helped up Eric when she saw the blood dripping from the tendrils and Kyro being pierced through.

"KYRO!!!!" Korra screamed and started to leap back down into the chamber.

Daryn just barely grabbed Korra before she could leap back down into the hole. "KOrra! Don't! If that creature can pierce Kyro, we don't stand a chance against it."

His eyes were bright with tears, however. "Come on, we have to go or Kyro's sacrifice will have been in vain." He pulled her to him and then pushed her gently away from the hole, keeping himself between her and it.

Eric rolled out of the way of the spear-like protrusions, and then unloaded another bullet at the creature down below. "How are we supposed to kill it? The bullets aren't doing anything. And what about the captain?"

Korra strugled weakly against Daryn then broke down crying. Tightly holding onto Daryn, she buried her face in his shoulder and couldnt stop the sobs that racked through her body. Kyro had been her everything before Daryn and it felt like someone was ripping her heart out of her chest.

The captain slammed the latch shut and locked it. One, so that Korra wouldnt have to see. Two, because it might hold off the creature down there. He looked at Korra and hated seeing her like this but they couldnt just stand around and do nothing.
"Eric, go to the control room and start up the ship. Then set course for the terra named Torent. Its near the outer terras and one of the smaller ones. There should be a map somewhere inthe control room," the captain gave out the orders. Then held out his hand for Eric to give back Korra's gun.

Eric did feel bad for Korra; the dragon had obviously meant a lot to her, and despite his animosity towards the creature, he did think a few words of kindness at the creature--not least because it had helped him escape the hold.

And then reluctantly, Eric handed the gun over to the captain. "Alright, I'll set a course then."

Daryn held onto Korra, his arms firmly around her. "I know, I'm sorry," he murmured, not knowing what else to say. The dragon had protected them. "Thanks, Kyro," he said softly, "for helping us. You won't be forgotten." Internally though he was hoping vainly for some sort of miracle to happen. Maybe the dragon wasn't dead... Maybe Kyro would heal in time--after all, didn't dragons have magic?

Korra's legs buckled under her and it was only Daryn's strong hold that kept her from falling to the floor. Her cheeks were tear stained already and she didnt stop crying. It felt horrible to loose someone that close to her and the only thing keeping her steady was Daryn now.

The captain took in Korra's appearance and it almost broke his heart to see her in that condition. Walking over, he leaned down and put Korra's gun in her holster then looked at Daryn as he stood back up. "Take her to the captain's room. You can stay with her since i doubt she'll need another person close to her leaving. Take care of her and try to calm her down as best as you can. Wrap up her wrist and get her to get some sleep," he said to Daryn quietly and motioned for him to go.

Daryn nodded and gently picked up Korra, scooping her legs up with his free arm to carry her back to the captain's room. Halfway there, the hallways blurred as he shed his own tears for Kyro. The dragon had really grown on him.

At last they made it to the room and he kicked the door open, entering, and finally lowering Korra to the bed. He sat down beside her, running his hand through her hair, while wiping away his own tears.

In the control room, Eric was quickly getting the ship off the ground, setting course for the terra that the captain had specified. He glanced over his shoulder as though expecting something to come barging in after him. Perhaps the captain would want to discuss a few things with him regarding Daryn and Korra?

But if the captain had connections to Korra, be it father-daughter, then it was likely that Daryn wouldn't be tried as a traitor. Eric wondered if he'd still get a promotion if it turned out that Daryn was reinstated to his former position.

Korra turned onto her stomach and buried her head in a pillow. Muffled sobs racked through her body and she refused to move from her spot. The only thing she felt right now was pain and numbness. Her thoughts were all muddled up and Kyro kept running through her mind. Memories of her and him replaying over and over in her mind. They had been through the toughest situations together and now he was gone. She hadnt even gotten a chance to tell him goodbye.

The captain went through the boxes in the loading bay an found plenty of food supplies. So he picked up one of the boxes and took it into the kitchen on the ship. He hated having to lower himself to this job but they would all need dinner. As soon as they landed on Torent though he was going to go into the city there. He would get some extra crew members for a little while until everything was cleared up and they could return to the capitol terra, Xavious. There he would get them to build a new and grander Steel and Clockwork. Korra could work as a mechanic since thats what she was good at and Daryn could have his old job back. As promised he would give Eric his promotion.

With a heavy sigh, the captain went to work cooking and when he was done an hour later, he set the dining table. Then he set the food out with wine as the drink since thats all there was. Entering the control room, he ordered Eric to set auto pilot then get cleaned up and meet everyone else in the dining room. Then he headed for the captains room and entered.
"Daryn can i talk to you?" he asked and motioned for the hallway.

Daryn just continued to stroke Korra's hair, his fingers trailing down to rub her back comfortingly. He didn't know what else to do and he didn't want to leave her alone. He was growing tired however when the knock sounded on the door and he looked up to see the captain entering.

He jumped to his feet, wiping his face against his sleeve. "Yes sir." He wasn't about to get cited for disrespect if there was the prospect of getting his job back. "I'll be back in a bit, Korra," he called to her softly, before heading into the hallway.

Eric put the ship into autopilot and then headed for the improvised mess hall. It smelled good, whatever the captain had concocted, and seeing the wine made Eric's heart soar. He hadn't had wine in weeks. But he'd wait until everyone else arrived before digging in. Even though his mouth watered.

Korra had started growing tired as well and shortly after Daryn left, she started to quiet down a bit. Running out of tears to cry, she layed there numbly and silently. Staring at the wall, she sniffled every now and then but eventually that quieted as well.

The captain didnt shut the door since he didnt want Korra to feel completely alone. "I fixed dinner up. I need you to convince her to get cleaned up and ready for dinner. Eric is probably already there. Also Daryn, i wont lable you as a deserter and you can keep your rank as well as your job. We'll fid your dad before we head back to Xavious. My daughter can work as a mechanic on the ship since thats what shes good at. I wont seperate you two but you two also have to focus on your jobs as well," he said. Then he offered a small smile as he glanced back at Korra. "You have to promise me you'll take great care of her for me. And my name is Aiden Sage. When we arent around everyone else you may adress me as Aiden," he added before nodding at Daryn and turning away. Walking down the hall, he got cleane up and went into the dining room to wait.

Daryn just stared at Captain Sage for a long moment. His mind had been blown by not only the acceptance that he should and could care after Korra, but about, well, everything.

"Yes sir, thank you sir!" Daryn said, snapping a snazzy salute as the captain walked off.

He turned to enter back into the room, a bit more of a bounce to his step, though he forced himself to discard the joy for a more somber tone.

He ran his hand down Korra's back. "Hey, Korra? I know you're feeling cruddy and all, but if you're hungry, Captain Sage has made us dinner."

Korra heard her dad tell Daryn everything and smiled as a mix of emotions flowed through her. Disregarding her suffering, she slowly sat up as Daryn told her about dinner. "I'll be right back. I wanna get cleaned up first," she said quietly but a little cheerier than before.

Slipping off the bed, she went into the bathroom and washed off her face. Looking in the mirror, she was satisfied since she looked ten times better now except her hair was a bit messy. So she fixed it up first then decided to let it down since Daryn had never really seen it down. Her soft, loose, gold curls fell down a little past her shoulders. Her bangs falling neatly to one side of her face and she brushed them to the side with her finger. So they draped across but showed both her eyes.

Having her that way made her look radiant. Then she undressed and put on the white half shirt that had gold ribbons lacing up the back of her half shirt. Then she slid on a pair of faded blue shorts. Leaving the bathroom, she walked over to Daryn and smiled, seeing if he was ready.

Daryn nodded, and while Korra changed, did the same. His pants and shirt had gotten torn in the scuffles and he didn't smell too great either, having been at one point in Kyro's mouth. He faltered at the memory, and then shook his head. There would be time for grieving later; now wasn't the time.

He was ready when Korra reappeared and he stared at her in surprise, before crossing over to her. He had to blink a few times to make sure he wasn't seeing things. "You look beautiful."

He was wearing another white shirt, with loose sleeves and a new pair of brown pants--nothing too fancy or above his position.

Korra smiled shyly and checked Daryn out as he got closer. "You look pretty handsome yourself," she replied then met his green eyes. Taking his hand in hers, she intertwined their fingers then pulled him out of the room.

Walking down the hall to the dining room that her father had set up, she opened the door and walked in. Taking a seat in between Eric and Daryn. Her father sat across from her and Aiden beamed a his daughters presence. For a while he thought she wouldnt come but seeing her now, she looked alot like her mother.

Aiden had cooked spaghetti with meatsauce which was one of his speacialties. Korra saw the wine and smiled. She couldnt remember the last time she had drank wine. Especially the expensive kind that was in the diamond glasses. "Thanks dad. For the food," she said quietly since it was rather quiet.

Aiden smiled and nodded. "Your welcome," he said before starting to eat. Korra glanced at Eric to see him in his old clothes then she looked at Daryn. Finally she started to eat.

Eric was taken back by Korra's appearance, and he felt ashamed of himself for the way he'd treated her earlier. He glanced at the captain, uncertainly before nodded his thanks. "It looks good," he said.

Daryn smiled and felt the atmosphere relax a little. "It smells amazing." He missed the smells of home cooked meals. And spaghetti was one of his favorites.

He tucked in, noticing Eric's lingering looks at Korra and wondered if he'd need to have a talk with his superior about said looks being misleading. But for now, he was content to eat and observe.

Korra drank at least three glasses of wine that night but she had a high tolerance for alcohol so it hardly affected her. Finishing her food rather quicker than everyone else. Taking her plate, she walked by her dad and kissed his cheek gratefully.
"It was very good dad thank you. Does anyone want seconds or another glass of wine?" she asked as she started towards the kitchen. Pausing at the door, she looked at the three men at the table.

Aiden smiled a little sheepishly around his daughter. "Well could i have another glass Korra?" he asked and she smiled then nodded. Looking to Daryn then Eric, asking them without speaking. She had never noticed Eric's lingering looks since she was happy to have people that felt like family around her and especially her dad that now cared for her. And Daryn, whom she loved greatly.

Daryn drank lightly, not wanting to make a bad impression on the captain, and for that matter being drunk among the rigging was a good way to die.

Eric, on the other hand, knew no bounds. He smiled at Korra. "One more drink, please," he said with a wink, his inhibitions completely lacking.

Daryn scowled at Eric. "I think you've had enough, Eric. You're going to have a hangover tomorrow if you're not careful."

Eric waved his hand at Daryn. "Nonsense, never hadda hangover inna my life."

Korra rolled her eyes as Eric winked at her but nodded. Then getting nothing from Daryn, she walked into the kitchen. Washing off her dishes then rinsing the soap off, she put up the dishes before drying her hands off. Then she grabbed the wine bottle and brought it out.

Wlaking over to her dad, she poured him half a glass until he asked her to stop. Then she walked over to Eric and poured him half a glass and not more. "I think this should be your last one Eric. I agree with Daryn and im not sure you wont kill us tommorow with your steering," she said the last part teasingly.

Then she smiled and went back into the kitchen. Putting the wine bottle away, she walked back out and took everyones dishes since they were done. Cleaning off all the dishes, she then put them up and sighed. After she was done, she walked back out to the dining room then smiled a little. "I think im going to head back to the room. Thanks for dinner dad," she said before leaving from the room quietly.

Aiden looked at Daryn and sighed. "Eric. Finish your wine then go to your room. I need to talk to Daryn," he ordered. Except there was a happy spark in his eyes.

Eric thanked Korra for the wine, gulped it down as the captain mentioned he should get going and leave the two in peace, and then headed for the corridor.

Not that Eric was going back to his room. Nope. His feet carried him towards Korra's room, where he'd lounge in the doorway for a moment before speaking; just watching her.

Daryn swallowed and offered a hesitant smile at Aiden. "What can I do for you, sir?" he asked, glancing after Eric's departing figure. He wasn't too sure about Eric right now. But he figured the officer wouldn't do anything to jeopardize the ship--drunk or not.
