Korra wiped a few tears away then balled her hand in a fist. "Kyro is a dragon.. He's the only one i have left..Your captain sold him at an auction! The man who bought him is going to kill him then make a coat out of his skin! I dont want to be alone and Kyro is the only one i have left!" she yelled back.
Korra started crieing and sank to her knees. She couldnt believe that she was crieing in front of Daryn but just the thought of loosing Kyro almost killed her.

Daryn clamped his mouth shut once Kyro's identity was relayed. His captain had sold a dragon at an auction?! When? How? Why? Too many questions raced through his head.
He took a deep breath and let it out. He was a Petty Officer, he could do this. Making sure the wheel was secure, he knelt down beside Korra. He didn't do anything so brash as to put his hand on her shoulder, but he was at least within arm's reach.
"Alright, I'm sorry," his voice was soft, his temper controlled. "I didn't know. What were you doing with a dragon? And why did the captain seize it from you?"

Korra sniffled and tried to calm down, slowly doing so. "I found Kyro in a abandoned nest. I fed him and everything until he was strong and big enough to survive on his own. But he chose to stay with me because i was alone. Your captain took him because Kyro was making practice rounds flying and didnt see it as this stupid ship snuck up on him. Dragons are rare and pay good money," Korra replied and sniffled afterwards.
Then she did something that even surprised herself. She hugged him tightly around his abdomen.
"Please....You have to help me.." Korra begged quietly.

He flinched when she lunged for him--only to wrap her arms around his middle. He looked down at her and then slowly, carefully, settled his arms around her and waited a breath then two to see what would happen.
If she was trying to disarm him, well, it wouldn't be the first time and this time was at least nicer than last time when she had broken his nose.
"It sounds like the captain was in the wrong then; he probably didn't realize the dragon was yours. I'll help you. Okay? And then..." he hesitated. He wasn't sure what would happen after they rescued the dragon. "And then we'll figure out what to do next." Which meant that the button he'd switched would need to be switched off.
"Can you let me up a moment?"

Korra let him go and backed away a little, trying to hide the wildfire blush spreading across her cheeks. Standing up, she wiped the tears from her face and calmed down considerably.
"Thank you Daryn," she said and managed a small smile.
Retreating to the captain's quarters, she went into the bathroom and washed her face from the sink. Then started to think and wonder. Did she actually like him? But she couldnt! He was just gonna try and turn her in when they docked! But he was rather handsome...
Korra shook her head to clear it then leaned back over the sink. No Korra..You cant like him. That would be bad because..because..well why would that be bad?.. she thought to herself.
Korra had never liked a guy before more than a friend anyhow. Desperatly confused, she walked into the captain's bedroom and laid on his bed.

Released from her...embrace--he flushed at the thought--he quickly moved to switch off the beacon. It ended the signal and he was pretty sure that would confuse them more. Would they think it was a trick? Would they think to keep going in the line they'd traveled so far? But their journey thus far had been corkscrew-y, so it would be almost impossible to plot their course with any certain knowledge. Unless the captain knew they were headed after the dragon.
Without realizing it, Daryn's arms had dropped until they wrapped around his waist where Korra's arms had been. Upon realizing it, he shook his arms out. Why was he thinking about that? Korra was a girl in despair and he was the only one she could rely on. He paused there for a moment, relishing the feeling of being needed and then shook his head. Needed for the wrong reasons, he decided. And all she wanted was that dragon.
He sighed and grabbed his pocket watch back, double checking their course. They were good for a while. He'd keep the wheel steadied before going to look for Korra. He grabbed two of the air rations on his way out.

Korra stared at the ceiling and tried to figure out her feelings, when she heard a rustle in the corner. Jumping up, she reached for her gun and relaized it wasnt there! Freezing when she saw a man from the ship's crew standing in the corner. The blood drained from her face as she saw him holding her gun.
"Get up you theif!" he ordered.
Korra slowly edged off the bed and as soon as she did, something hard came down on her head and she dropped like a rock. Blood trickled down the side of her head as another crew memeber stood over her. They had been in the engine room when the ship took off. They couldnt figure out where everyone else was until they saw Korra in the engine room earlier. Then they had seen her push Daryn and assumed he was a hostage in the situation.

Daryn figured Korra was probably in the captain's room, so he angled there. That was when he saw shadows inside the room. Shadows? There should only be one. And then there was a thud.
"Korra!" He leaped for the doorway to find two of the engineers in the room. "What're you guys doing?" He still clung to the air rations, as he stared at the two men and then at the downed pirate. And then, realizing he was probably the highest level officer aboard, straightened some and narrowed his eyes at them. He wasn't a meek hostage anymore, he was standing in for the captain of the ship. "Stand aside!"
He went to Korra's side to inspect her bloodied head and glanced up at the two men. "What did you hit her with? Go fetch me some rope and some bandages."

The crew member who had hit her, showed Daryn the wrench that he used. But he couldnt find anything else so he had to use that. The crew memeber with her gun quickly scurried off, the other one following. Leaving Korra and Daryn alone in the captain's quarters.
Korra had been hit pretty hard, the area around the cut already starting to bruise. It really hadnt been a fair fight either since she didnt even know there was two men there. The man who had hit her was Kale and the other was Jake.

Daryn scowled as Jake and Kale ran off. He looked around and then went into the closet. He had seen a med kit in there, for all the not-good it had done him while he'd been bound back there.
He retrieved it and with his hands free, he was able to maneuver the gears until it popped open with a click. Ointments and gauze appeared and he quickly set to work cleaning off Korra's wound.
He was gentle as he dabbed away the blood and then added the ointment to a strip of gauze before attaching it to her injury. There, that was the best he could do. He picked her up carefully, she really wasn't all that heavy to him since he was more than used to lifting his own weight amongst the rigging, and laid her carefully on the bed.
He'd keep an eye on her, but in the meantime, he'd also add very loose rope bonds to her wrists and ankles--for show more than for anything else. Until he could figure out what Kale and Jake were up to. He hoped they'd simply go back to the engine room.

Kale and Jake came back with some rope and a med kit then seeing he already did everything, theu set it all down by the door.
"Sir did that wench do the to you?" Kale askd and shot Korra a dirty look even though she wasnt awake to see it.
Jake handed the captain her gun and nodded. "Sir she had that on her," Jake said then stepped back to the doorway.
Korra woke up with a pained groan and blinked her eyes open, only to squeeze them shut at the light being so bright. Kale and Jake quickly looked over.

"Oh, you found more. Great." He could actually patch himself up now. "Yeah, she got me good in the nose. I don't think we'll have to worry about her for now."
He accepted the gun that Korra had on her, looking it over and checking the cylinder for rounds. Of course it was loaded. He snapped it shut and then tucked it into the front of his pants.
"For the moment, she's the only one who's on board. I can take it from here. Would you remind heading back to the engine room? She claimed to have 'fixed' something. I want to be sure it actually was fixed. You can report to me over the com system." It was his polite way of saying don't bother me. But their presence might be a problem.
He would wait for them to leave before he went over to sit on the bed next to Korra. "Hey," he gently ran his fingers through her hair, "Sorry for the rope, but at the moment, it's the only option we have. We're still heading for the Golden Crown Island though. How do you feel?"

Kale and Jake left, going down into the engine room.
Korra blinked her eyes open. "My head is killing me...what happened?" she asked quietly.
Slowly, she sat up and put her hands to her head. The last thing she remembered was seeing that crew member in the corner with her gun.
Trying to get her hands from the ropes, she looked at Daryn then smirked a little. "You look worried," she teased quietly.

He drew his hand away when Korra sat up. At her comment he smiled ruefully. She had no idea the rock and hardplace he was in between now. With Kale and Jake onboard the vessel, they would be witnesses to Daryn's treasonous way, or lack thereof, depending on how things went.
His smile froze and finally his face fell. "I've sent them back to the engine room but there's a complication now." He took a deep breath and let it out. Nervously, he began to rub his right hand, where a scar from a rope burn could be seen. "With you captive now, they'll expect me to turn this ship around. If you take me hostage again, they'll try to hurt you. And if I agree to help you..." he trailed off his green eyes straying to the captain's desk, "I'll be wanted for treason. The offense for the latter is death if I'm caught." He shivered a little and fell silent.
He wasn't sure what he expected Korra to say. But it felt good to finally get that in the open. "I'd rather you not get hurt, and I'd rather not get arrested for treason."

Korra took his hand and looked at the scar in the middle from the rope burn. "You work alot.... You love your job dont you?" she asked quietly.
Then she worked her wrists free from the rope bonds and let go of his hand. Untieing the bonds from her ankle, she looked at Daryn's eyes for a moment before finding the answer she was expecting. Leaning towards him, she was centimeters from him as if she was going to kiss him then she took her gun from his waistband and pulled away.
Slipping off the bed, she looked at him apologetically before tieing his hans behind his back in a flash. Then she pushed him gently back on the floor and covered his eyes with a bandana. She didnt want him following her and he couldnt be witness to what she was gonna do or he would be held for treason. Quickly slipping from the room, she ignored his questions and made her way to the engine room.

He let her look, it was just an injury he'd gotten from his first year aboard this very ship. He had always regarded it as first love's kiss, for the ship had been his only true love. And he was surprised to find that Korra understood that.
He watched as she untied herself, making no move to stop her. And when she leaned forward, he couldn't help it. His green eyes darkened slightly; did she mean to kiss him? Except that--her gun was wrenched from his pants.
"I, what...where do you think you're going?" he asked, when she finished securing the rope around his arms and then blindfolded him. "Hey! Didn't I just say this wouldn't work?" He fumbled at the bonds, trying to get free; but her knots weren't easy to slip.

Korra slipped into the engine room and looked around quickly before seeing Jake checking her work on the leak. Slipping over to him, she jerked him out from under the maching and put the gun to his head.
"Kale!" he yelled and the intercom was on as well so even Daryn could her it.
Korra hit him on the head with the butt of her gun before tieing him up tightly and dragging him to the loading ramp. Kale came up from behind her and put a knife to her throat.
"Move and i will forever silence you..Though on the other hand, i havent been with a girl in a while," Kale said and put his hand on her stomach.
With a growl, she slammed her steel boot down on his foot and he let out a yell. Turning around quickly, she barely dodged his knife as he threw it at her. It made a small cut on her cheek and she quickly kicked his legs out from under him. Finally tieing him up and shoving him over with his friend.
"Sorry guys," she said before hitting the button that opened the ramp.
Korra wasnt cold hearted and as they dropped over, she laughed at their pathetic scream for them to only fall onto land. She had made sure they were over land before dropping them. Then shutting the ramp, she went back up to the captain's quarters.
Untieing Daryn and taking the blindfold off.

He wrestled more with his bonds as he heard the voices of Kale and Jake over the intercom. "No!" he yelled, but there was no one to hear him. But there was no sound of a gunshot. He lay there, panting, breathing hard, sweating as he tried to figure out what happened to the engine workers. And then he heard the door open and his bonds were being loosened.
"What did you do to them? What did you do?" He asked, his voice was hoarse, his eyes intense. He was desperate to know as he turned back to look at Korra--and saw her bloodied cheek.
He gently reach forward to wipe the blood off, his thumb caressing her face. She was okay. But what of his fellow shipmates?

For a second, Korra closed her eyes as his thumb wiped across her cheek then she pulled back a little. "I tossed them out from the ramp onto the terra we just passed," she replied quietly.
She had saw his concern and assumed it had been for his crewmates. For some reason she felt deeply dissappointed when she thought that and she looked at the floor.
"I didnt want you to be accussed of treason when im keeping you here anyway," Korra explained quietly.
But she didnt feel at all bad for Kale as she remembered him touching her stomach. A greasy smear was on her stomach from Kale's hand.

Relieved that his shipmates might yet still be alive though no longer onboard, he sighed and then took in Korra's ragged appearance.
"What happened here?" he asked, pointing at the stain on her shirt. It looked like grease, or oil. And he didn't remember it being there before. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
It was strange, now that they were alone together, he felt...protective of her. Why should he feel that way? But his gaze had softened some and he seemed a little...less intense than before.
