Korra looked over at Daryn when he clasped her hand in his. Then she held his hand and smiled a little. "You have to be the bravest man i know to give up your job that you love so much, just to help me. Thank you but i cant ask you to make that sacrific," she murmured then pulled her hand away.

Already she was putting her plan into action. Slipping off the captains bed, she took the cane so he couldnt follow her. Then she backed out of the room and ignored his questions. Closing the door behind her, tears streamed down her face as she ran to the control room. Shutting the door behind her, she locked it from the inside and ran to the wheel. They were passing over one of the largest terras in the sky. They no doubt had gotten the news about her taking Daryn hostage and stealing the ship. Slowly, she worked out the ship into lowering and she started to drive around the ships toward the docks.

The law would arrest her here and find Daryn severly injured. They would assume she did it and she wouldnt deny it. He would have his job back after some recovery and her father would get what he always wanted.

He was confused when she pulled away; and even more so when she slipped off the bed. When she took his cane, however, he tried to stop her.

"Korra? Korra! What are you doing? Where are you going? Don't do this!" Whatever this was, he had no idea, but judging by her reaction, he knew it was drastic.

"Korra!" he yelled after her as she shut the door behind her. A string of colorful curses followed as he ignored his throbbing leg and hobbled mostly one-legged after her. He had to stop at the hallway, his energy spent.

"Korra!!!" His vision went hazy and he had to lean against the wall to keep from passing out. Wherever she was going, whatever she planned on doing, he would find her. Or die trying. His career be damned; he wanted her.

Korra heard him yelling and had to cover her ears to keep from turning back now. Tears streamed down her face as she pulled around the terra, coming into view of the docks. She had to do this..she couldnt destroy another life.

Turning the wheel, she started to pull into the docks and could see the soldiers already running about. Lining up at the edge of the docks, it had been a huge deal for her to steal this ship. It was one of the most famously known ships and valued at high prices.

Korra watched as the soldiers readied their weapons and waited paiently for the ship to pull in. This was it, Korra was followoing through with her plan. Daryn deserved to continue on with what had been a great life until she kidnapped him. The soldiers wouldnt be able to get on unless she lowered the ramp and she could hear Daryn in the hall. Docking the airship, she stopped all movement in the ship then went to the control room door and unlocked it. Yet she made no move to leave, she was terrified for both herself and Kyro. But Kyro would understand if he was here to see it.. or at least she hoped.

He felt the ship shudder as it landed, and he realized now what the plan was. Korra meant to sacrifice herself, to give up.

He looked around for something, anything, to get him to where she was. But the cane had been the only thing he could find last time. And the captain's quarters were surprisingly sparse for all that the captain was wealthy.

His voice was hoarse anyway from his yelling. Setting his hand to the wall he proceeded to hobble his way painfully towards the control room where he knew Korra was manning the ship. He needed to see her one last time.

He sagged against the control room door for a moment, beyond exhausted. His skin was pale, sweat dotted his forehead; in short, it looked like he had run a marathon.

He could hear the sounds of soldiers prising open the loading ramp of the ship. They would be swarming in as soon as they got it open. He pushed softly against the door to the control room.

And for the moment, he stood there, wavering on his feet, looking at Korra. His expression filled with pain, but not because of his injury. It was the pain of losing her, and he slowly reached out to her, wanting, no, needing to know that she was still there.

Korra felt the door push open and took a step away from it. When she saw Daryn, her whole plan fell to pieces as she started crying. She couldnt do it! She couldnt leave him..it hurt too much.

Korra put her arms around his abdomen to help him stay up but to also feel him against her. She had to have him, she couldnt follow through with her plan. She had let him down and she had no idea if he even feeled the same way. But she changed her mind and helped Daryn sit down before she pulled away from him.

"Im sorry..." she whhispered to him as tears kept falling down her face.
Then getting up quickly, she jerked the wheel away from the dock and started up the airship. The whole plan fell to pieces as she forced the ship away from the dock. She saw soldiers backing away as she took part of the dock with the airship.

Then she set it to fly above the clouds and walked back over to Daryn, falling to her knees beside him. "Im sorry but i cant do it.." she whispered, her voice cracking.

Daryn stumbled against her, his leg giving out for real now. He only stayed upright by wrapping his arms around her, and he really didn't want to let go, not least of all because if he did, he was afraid she'd escape.

"Don't leave," he said, as he was helped to sit and then she pulled away. He watched her intently before feeling the ship take off again. He sighed in relief and then cupped her face in his hands when she knelt beside him again.

"Please don't do that again," he said, and then pulled her to him, wrapping his arms around her. "Please, don't." He couldn't, didn't want to lose her. Not like that. "They wouldn't have understood."

Korra wrapped her arms around Daryn and buried her face in his chest. "I wont.. I promise," came her muffled reply.
What the hell was she thinking? She needed Daryn and she probably couldnt have made it without him. But they wouldnt understand what? Slowly, she stopped crying and sniffled staying wrapped in his arms. She didnt want to leave his hold, she felt safe there.

Then she pulled away a little and looked at Daryn, her eyes clearing showing the pain and fear she had felt. But it was not fear of imprisonment or the pain of being not able to save Kyro, it was all about leaving Daryn. She searched Daryn's eyes for something that would tell her what she wanted to know.

She looked confused and he couldn't blame her. He hadn't exactly been eloquent. He cleared his throat a little, trying to get a little more of himself back.

"The soldiers wouldn't have understood what you were doing. They would have taken you to prison, at best you'd be sentenced for life; at worst..." he trailed off. "And I wouldn't have faired much better. My career was pretty well singed when I climbed on board after the ship took off." He looked down briefly and then back at her. He gently tried to wipe the tears from her cheeks with his thumb.

"I wouldn't want to have been left behind either. Right now...I won't be able to forgive myself if something happened to you. And we can't let Kyro get auctioned off." He wanted to say he liked her, but really what did he know of her? He wanted to protect her because all he saw was a scared, frightened young woman who had lost her friend and was risking everything to get him back.

And that, to Daryn, was more than anything he could have hoped for. "Please," he murmured, trying to pull her into a hug once more, "be patient. We'll figure this out."

Korra failed to hear that he liked her and the dissappointment showed in her eyes. Yet she was soothed that he cared enough for what she was fighting for, to help her out. Korra hugged back but looser than their embrace had been a few second earlier.

Maybe she was the only one who felt that way..yet why did he almost kill himself to stop her from leaving? Korra inwardly sighed then pulled away from Daryn, grabbing his cane she handed it to him and helped him up.
"Lets get you back to the room. You look like a wreck," she teased but with little humor to her voice.
For some reason she had been deeply struck down to not know if he liked her or not. But they had a mission to complete and she was going to get it done with his help. But what would he do afterwards?

No. She had to focus on Kyro and stop thinking about Daryn. He didnt seem to like her that way anyway so there wasnt a point to keep trying.

He felt and heard the coldness in her tone and mannerisms and he realized he'd failed yet again to communicate. But he took the cane back and with some help managed to climb to his feet. It was clear he was distracted with his thoughts

"I'm sorry, Korra. I'm...not the best when it comes to words." It was partly why he was a Petty Officer 2nd Class and not 1st Class, but he doubted she would understand that.

He wanted to hug her close again, but her shoulder was injured and he didn't want to aggravate it; on top of all that his leg really was rioting in the pain of the moment as adrenaline began to wear out.

He was silent as they made their way back to the captain's room, even though he had to stop a time or two to catch his breath. Still, when he saw the bed, a sigh of relief escaped him as he faceplanted into a pillow with a heartfelt moan.

"Join me?" he mumbled into the pillow, before realizing that maybe she wouldn't hear. He lifted his head a little turning to look at her. "Would you...sit with me?" Somehow, when she was close to him, he forgot about the pain in his leg.

Korra nodded as he apologized then smiled. "Not many men are. But what are you trying to say?" she asked with a small teasing smile. Then she helped him back to the room. Not minding they stopped one or two times, she silently trekked back with him. Her thoughts wandering then she came back to the present as he fell onto the bed.

Korra blushed a little as he asked her to sit beside him but she felt a sudden joy at the thought. She walked over to the bed and crawled into it, sitting next to him as he had asked. But she visibly relaxed as she got close to him then she laid back. Her head hit the pillow and she stared at the ceiling. "Hows your leg?" she asked quietly.

Absent mindedly, she put her fingers to her lips and thought about when they kissed for the first time. Then of when the pirates raided and he kissed her as he left the closet. Had those kisses actually meant something to him?

He grunted at the question. "As good as can be given the circumstances." But then he rolled a little to look up at Korra. "Thank you for taking care of me." He reached towards her, running his hand along her arm, before pausing.

What was he trying to do? She was just helping him; she probably felt sorry for his injury and was just having pity on him. He'd seen pity reflected in enough faces to know what it looked like. Which was why he felt conflicted. She didn't look like she was pitying him. So then if not pity, what was that look on her face?

"You should smile," he suggested. "You look prettier when you smile."

Korra shivered at his touch and blushed as she did so. His touch left a small fire like trail in its wake. Looking at Daryn, she smiled but a real smile not one that looked forced. Daryn could do that to her, out of everyone she ever knew only Daryn could make her smile for real. "Your welcome," she replied.

Korra looked at Daryn's eyes and couldnt help but be drawn to him. This time however, her smile reached her eyes and she looked actually happy for once.
"Thanks. You dont look so bad yourself when you smile," she teased and laughed softly.

He grinned at her when she laughed. Her laugh was pleasant compared to the raucous laughter of his fellow airman. Former fellow airman, he reminded himself.

"Thank you, I think. I'm usually much better company, you know, when I'm not laid up like this." He scooted himself a bit further back along the bed so he could more or less prop himself up.

He looked her over as he did so, his eyes lingering where they would, liking what he saw. "So, uh, you do this often?" he asked wryly. "Kidnapping men, taking hostages, stealing ships?"

Korra looked up at him and laughed again at his question. "No not usually. I ride Kyro everywhere though i do have to pickpockets to feed us both. Though i dont take much. Just enough to buy me adn Kyro what we need to survive. Such as a few rations of food and water. Ammo sometimes and explosives," she replied.

Though she had noticed his eyes lingering on her and blushed a bit but honestly she didnt mind. She had never truly been looked at. People normally just saw her as pirate trash so she had learned not to care about what people thought about her. Though it did matter to her what Daryn thought of her. For the first time since they had been together, she checked him out and liked what she saw.

"It must be nice to have such a faithful companion," Daryn said, a sudden longing entering his voice. He'd only ever had his younger brothers for company, and he'd left home a few years ago--becoming a stranger to them, known only for sending portions of his paycheck home.

He noticed Korra checking him out, however, and he tried to puff up his chest a little. It was kind of a failed cause, given that the earlier excitement had mussed his hair plastering it flat, and his pantlegs were uneven from having been cut earlier due to his injury. He probably looked a sight.

"What do you use the ammo and explosives for?" He recalled her bag of stuff. "Do you still have it?"

Korra still found him attractive even if he was a little worn looking at the moment. She smiled and looked back to his eyes, a warm glow to hers.

"Well i have to protect Kyro and myself so i have weapons for that. The explosives i bought in case we got in a sticky situation like the one coming up. We cant just walk in there and sneak a dragon out of an auction not to mention if hes already been bought...." she trailed off and had to look away from Daryn the thought turning her blood cold.

Korra had wanted to wait until she got the airship flying before pushing her dad off that ramp. Yet, she was not going to turn into a murderer like her father. Besides even though that he was trieing to kill her, she wasnt cold blooded enough to kill him. He was her father nevertheless.

Daryn rubbed her arm again. "Hey, it'll all work out. We're making good time. And if they don't have too much of a headstart on us, then it's just a matter of timing. Besides, I doubt that whoever gets the dragon is going to harm him too much." It was just a guess, but he really hoped that was the case. Dragons were rare and a live dragon was even more prized than a dead one. Even if the pelts were infinitely safer.

He frowned slightly. "If we need to use the explosives I know some effective ways without harming too many people." He glanced at her, wondering if she was going to have a problem with that. "How far are you willing to go to get Kyro back?"

Korra looked back up at Daryn and smiled. "I will go as far as i need to," she replied. Then she sat up and moved back to lean against the wall with Daryn. The bed had been placed right up against the wall and she had to admit it was nice. You didnt have to worry about sneaking up behind or above you.

Then Korra suddenly leaned on Daryn slightly. She was happy that he had agreed to help her even though she hated that he lost his job over it. He couldnt turn back to his normal life..nothing would be normal for him anymore. She could almost gurantee the law was looking for him too..

"I thought as much." She had taken a ship, after all, by herself.

When she leaned against him, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, careful of her injured shoulder. He let his hand rest against her upper arm where the wolf-creature that had attacked her hadn't bit. Gently he rubbed his thumb against her arm.

"What're you thinking about?" he asked her softly.
