Looking for a medieval setting longterm story with romantic and potential dark themes. Adventure would also be loved. The story could begin either shortly after Darrak escapes his captivity, and finds his way to a single dwelling where a maiden lives. Or, after he returns to his manor, his ordeal has convinced him to give in and seek out a marriage. Would he find a woman who he could share a mutual love?
Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Renaissance
Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.
