Why don't people just respond? I've always had a problem like this(I might be a little hypocritical) but some people don't respond it drives me mad!!!!! I mean you go start another thing while we are doing one thing like come on people;tell me if it's dying or you don't wanna play right now like something came up or just lie and say you're busy don't leave me on read. I know you can't always open up RPR but just try people care about their friends so reply or say "I wanna pause can we take a break I have stuff/school/work/etc." I mean my collarbone is broken and I'm still pushing through to have time with some internet friends...what is your response do you agree? I wanna know what you think our what you hate....
Well first off, how long have you been waiting for those replies? I often take a couple of days to post, but I am still active during that time. That doesn't mean I have forgotten my partners, it just means that I am not ready to post yet.
Now if you have been waiting a good amount of time, why not pm them a friendly nudge? Like ask them if something happened like if they are having writer's block.

I get that as well. Or the hit and run type Rpers who reply once and then run off. I know some of u s are busy. I try to be more active and such.
I don't have much insight because I'm not really the kind of person to just drop an RP like that... but I do have a few thoughts that might help...
I'm someone who very rarely ends an RP unless I'm taking a break from the site (which I'm notorious for not alerting people over and I really need to change that). However, I can only recall one instance where I've full-on stopped responding to an RP whilst still being active (and that was mostly because I was stuck for ideas, then forgot about it... ). I try to reply at worst within a week, mostly because I consider any RP that's been inactive for over a week as 'stalled' (though in practice unless I get stuck, I post at least daily).
However, from what I can gather, it's common place on this site (and probably in forum RPing as a whole) for people to just give up on an RP if they lose interest without alerting their partner. In my current active RPing run on this site (23rd Nov to present), I've only ever had a partner formally end an RP on me.... once. That's out of 19 PM RPs.
In some cases, one can forgive their partner... replies slow and slow over time until they stop entirely - that seems natural. Probably caused by of dwindling interest and/or time restraints. It's when they stop suddenly, especially after only a short run when eyebrows are raised, especially if the RP in question is advertised as long-term (and even worse when it's the person advertising it as long-term who's quitting on you).
In the end really, all you can do is accept that it happens and shrug it off. Eventually, you'll find a partner out there who'll keep up an RP that goes on for months and months that'll prop you up whilst others die before they really start.

I drew up a chart of my recent run of RPs (click to show)
Where green = active / yellow = stalled / orange = inactive. (Length = time, Width = # of pages)
I think what the graph shows is that it's actually relatively rare for an RP to stick, and when it does, it still has a lifespan.
