Rue

Hello Lovelies!
Rue here...

Have to say, this is quite the different site than I am used to.

For as long as I can remember I have been doing some kind of art (drawing, writing, reading, singing, etc...) but it wasn't until 2008 that I learned about roleplay. Despite joining a few communities and participating in some stories, I didn't start really getting into it until around 2012. This is when I opened up a bit more and really started trying to get into a community.

Regardless of the few years under my belt, I am still no great author. I have a lot that could do with some work, and only know the technicalities and mechanics of writing to like a 10th grade level (besides what I have learned and progressed in on my own).

I love the creation and research aspect of nearly everything, including roleplay, but this can also make the frequency of my posts lessen depending on how much I know on a subject.

Speaking of which... I am a scatterbrain and incredibly indecisive, so I know a little about a lot of things, but hardly know a lot about anything. This can be bad and good however... It may take me a bit to learn something, but it also allows for a multitude of different ideas to be implemented in various ways.

I am strictly on mobile and limited to data (mainly an issue only at the very end and beginning of a month).
I am a stay at home mama and as of right now, have a bunch of freetime, but no real schedule to go on. This makes it hard for me to give deadlines of less than a few days in advance (so I won't likely tell you I will have something done in a couple hours - whether I do or not, but if I say something along the lines of "I'll have it up on Saturday" and today is Wednesday, then I will have it up before the end of the day Saturday.)

I am in the US in Mountain Standard Time (MST) and all time limits I give will be based on such.

Well then, if this wasn't too robotic or boring for you to have made it this far, thank you!

On to the actual Interests...
Fantasy is always a good thing in my eyes. Magic, Romance, Adventures, crazy creatures and medicines, evil wizards and gods/goddesses...it all works out lol

It might be an easier task (and shorter read) if I tell you what I don't like, but I am trying to keep this positive!

Clichés? I like... Trying to kill them? I like more! Fluff? I probably write it...

There are some things I am not even mediocre in (like sciFi) that I would really love to explore, but am not sure how committed I can be.

I am a pretty straightforward person, but try to be as kind as possible. Feel free to contact me to roleplay or even to chat!

Suppose I will wrap this up here!
Have a lovely day!
Well, that was a Rue awakening if I ever saw one. Eh? Eh? (Oh, you already made that joke? Well I'm just grasping for straws here, okay? xD)

Anyway, Hi Rue, welcome to RPR! :)

Hope my bad puns aren't too painful for you ^^
Thanks for the welcome!
That was, quite simply, punishing. I suppose I'll Rue the d- nope, no, that's too far even for me. xD

Welcome to RPR!
Hello, Rue. Welcome to RPR!

I started roleplaying around the 2008-2009 timeframe myself, though I took time off in patches from about 2011-2016. I've only gotten back into RPing with new partners this month, and without a doubt I can say this website is a great place for integrating into a community. All the users I've encountered so far have been polite, kind, friendly, and very, very welcoming. I'm confident you'll feel the same!

I enjoying doing research for my roleplays as well. I mainly do it to bolster my characters, but I do a lot of brushing up on facts and learning new ones while I'm roleplaying too. It's fun to learn about history, biology, animals, weather patterns... anything to aid in realistic storytelling.

Mm, I'm a sucker for a good fantasy setting myself. Mythical creatures, urban legends, folklore, mythology. All very interesting to me. And making up diseases and medicines is also something I'm particularly weak for, haha. Much like you feel about sci-fi, I would love to try my hand at a medieval fantasy, but it's been awhile since I last tried. I'm a bit reluctant to throw myself into it despite my interest. Maybe I'll give it try soon though! We'll see.

If you ever have any questions about site etiquette, forums, functions, or more, feel free to ask me. I'd be glad to do what I can to answer any questions you might have.

Looking forward to seeing you around!
Welcome to RPR! I also find that doing research for characters and roleplays is fun. Although, I'm a history major, so maybe it's just in my programming, lmao.

Let us know if you have any questions or need a hand with something. I haven't been here long, but this site definitely seems like a good starting place for people who are new to forum roleplaying.

I wish I could go back to school. It stressed me out, mind you, but I do miss having guidelines for learning. Do you have a particular career in mind for your degree? I think if I went back it would be for something like history, but I am unsure how I would personally utilize the degree so I wasn't just wasting thousands of dollars and years of time when I should be focusing on something else.

I literally can only think of a history teacher or historian, but I don't know that I could do the teaching thing or what jobs are even available for historians anymore.

Well, imo knowledge is never wasted, though I understand what you mean. There aren't a lot of jobs for history. You can go into curatorial studies and eventually run a museum, teach it, go into archaeology, be an academic, a librarian, an archivist...yeah. It can be a useful tool for creative writing, though. And to understand the current state of the world it helps to understand what led to it-- everything is a reaction to some previous event.

That said, I'm actually not planning to do anything with my history degree, lmao. Just needed a BA. As soon as I'm done I'm switching tracks to a mortuary studies program.

I wasn't entirely sure how to word it without sounding rude or not making sense ^^

You answered perfectly though, and that is pretty much what I was thinking as far as getting to use them. I would probably still take as many classes in the subject as possible, but because I have to go strictly for what my career will need (not that I know what that is yet, so who knows :p) I don't think I could ever go for a degree.

I agree with all your points about why it is useful. I didn't mean to make it sound like they weren't lol, but I think you got my meaning pretty well. It definitely is something that would suit me for sure. Being a librarian, historian, archaeologist, or even running a museum would be awesome! Unfortunately, my situation and opportunities simply wouldn't allow for it.

Ah, no, you weren't rude at all! Good luck with your career stuff. I hope you find something that works out for you. Did you have anything in mind given your current situation?
Hello and welcome to RPR! I hope you make lots of friends and enjoy your time here!

At the moment I am stuck in a limbo of having a bunch of credits waiting for me, but not being able to get my transcripts due to debts owed, but not being able to get a job without experience or a degree lol... So right now I am just trying to find some kind of work until I can pay them back

Thanks! I appreciate it!
I'm sure I won't rue the day that I've welcomed you here then! (Some might not go that far, but I had to. Forgive me~) But it seems like you have a good sense of humor and your interests are wide and varied! And you know my pain on lack of scheduling; I'm a work-from-home artist that's also scatterbrained and don't have a set schedule myself...

It's really nice to meet you, and let me be one of the many to welcome you to RPR, Rue! I'm Lucree, but you can call me Light or Lucretire. I hope you're enjoying yourself so far!

Do you have any questions for us so far? I'm sure that I or anyone else here can point you in the right direction if so!
Hi and welcome to rpr! :D
Hello Rue and welcome to RPR. It's nice to meet you and please enjoy your stay.
