Let me just start out by saying no this doesn't necessarily take place in warhammer 40k it was simply a great name for my idea. To follow up on that this story can take place in any reality or universe so long it keeps the sci fi theme. Although i could be convinced to do another genre with enough encouragement and detail.
Now to the story, it's still a rough draft but my thought was I'm a captain of a small trader vessel about to take on a new job and my last crew member just left, died, quit, whatever reason. I put out a help wanted and your character answers and we start what will become a adventure we would have never expected.
My thought would be we initially start out as legal traders with the major faction e.g. the empire, or whomever it is. While transporting our cargo we are attacked and escape in some spectacular fashion. After that we discover we have been tagged as rogue traders and enemies of the state. This starts a whole chain of events that could lead to anywhere. While i have a idea of where i wanna take the story i am always open to ideas and thoughts.
This is just a interest check if you think you want to try or have a idea please pm me so i can get back to you in a timely manner. I only request that your at least semi active a few times a week would be ideal as that is my schedule. I also ask that your grammar and a structuring of post is semi coherent.

Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Further future, perhaps visit mars or upload your brain
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
