Heck, maybe only the imperial COULD fire.

maybe the imperial xenobeast is the only one with authority to access to the firing codes being a hive leader, and they simply have not put someone else in his throne yet

no purple hulks thankfully, but the respawn gave us two purple crickets and one more purple basilisk

perhaps the emperor's death is causing all the strongest members of the various growth stages to come out of hiding more
