Hmmmm the longing node is a heart, it's about a movie (but the phrasing makes me think it might be a book/fairytale) but it's definitely ocean related.

i want to say the longing node might be related to the titanic movie, with the heart being a reference to the romance?

i say this mainly because of the ocean theme and "Scholars argue over the reasons and length of this break" which could be hint towards the damage caused by the iceberg. a bit of a stretch maybe, but thought i'd put it out there! the first clue might fit recent remakes, but i dunno any. the 1997 won tons of oscars though so it could be a deliberate contrast there.
