I think we should try and focus the Puzzle nodes on Epic Week/RPR primarily

None of the Puzzle Nodes have been outside of RPR/about fiction etc.

Does the guardians appearances have something to do with the answer?

Not necessarily. Kim works with the mascots from previous years and tries to match them up as closely as possible (hence the Mermaid for the Longing Node, which focuses on sailing/boats) but it doesn't mean the riddle is about a mermaid.

I match them if I can, but I often can't. They're usually just sort of in the ballpark if they're related.

The guardian it is a sphynx... Which kind of related it to Ancient Egypt. Since Ancient Egypt can be related to "A sum of past knowledge", maybe it is related to a today's equivalent to hieroglyphs. Now, how would hieroglyphs match with the concept of a computer roadmap and a distraction for newcomers... ?

Like I said, the puzzle nodes relate to things going on within Epic Week itself.

And again, the guardians are very rarely related to the riddle at all.

That turned out to be the answer to a puzzle on the blue booster rocket!
