Well we could also go by cartoon logic, say the player has a severe mental and biological disability in which they can only live or speak to others through the virtual world because their body is too weak to leave a certain sterilized environment?
No its more what coke_monster said
We could also say that real world body capabilities also transfer into the games data base after your character is created and synced with your specific body type.
Edit: sorry, didn’t see your comment

I think the first idea is less of a stretch
Plus I'm not looking to have someone who is inapt in the real world.
Then I’ll just put that one in the vault and save it for a later story.
I'll come up with another one later I guess. Out of ideas for now.
Why not, have the cyber augmentations. And your character just blabbers about an accident that caused her to get here to add a sense of immersion to her gameplay?
I'd actually thought Unholy was going to propose a hospitalized character like... *googles a bit* Yuuki from SAO season 2 at the mention of a dark theme.
Edit: Do you mean, Sp8s, have Thea be... a roleplayer?

My suggestion was actually a reference to that character.
I mean, why not?
It's common for people to roleplay in RPGs. Especially if they are VR.

I'll tell you all how I feel about reworking the character in a bit... I think I'm going to redesign her as a robot.
I know I'm stubborn.
Greetings. I believe I have identified the source of the confusion here.
"This is a game, why didn't the player simply press the reset button?"
She didn't because she loves her character, Thea. She is invested in the character as a second self.
This love for her second self made her unwilling to give up. She found a way to resurrect her second self and continue her existence.
Reasoning; She developed an attachment. It couldn't be helped. She put a lot of time and investment to this character to the point it felt as an alter ego.
An extension of herself.

Questions?
Well I presume the status of the accident still linger even after respawn then?
I was wondering if we had a respawn system in place.
Well that clears a lot up for me.

Yes She cannot simply "Respawn" the accident away.
The nature of it was character-damaging rather than instance-damaging. The scope is defined as such.
Yeah there's respawn Raider. 3 day penalty
