OOC Info

I've picked a neutral setting so anyone can join. It could be any forest, anywhere. Your OC probably hasn't even realized they've crossed to another place, because hey, a trees a tree, no matter where you go. My boy Alf is lurking next to a canyon.

This RP has no real rules. I do have a request.

ASK before stumbling in bleeding or the like. If it makes sense or gives us something to do, we might go for it! But if its used as a ploy to get attention, you will be ignored. We want to play with you, but we want you to try to be part of the story. Using grave injuries when you haven't even met our characters yet is selfish and lazy.

EVERYONE is welcome to join. No need to ask first.

Now lets set the mood.

Alf was in his usual state of grump. He made an art of it, actually. He was skulking through the forest like a big cat on the prowl. His 'prey'? Reeds. He was stowing away handfuls of them to be peeled and wound into rope so he could rig himself a way down into the canyon. Flying was out, the wind was furious and he hadn't been practicing that skill anyway. It could only have ended one way- him face first into a wall.
No thank you.
He was going to be sensible about this.
He moved the forest as he worked, not bothering to be quiet. In all likelihood he was the biggest predator around, and he barely fit the criteria, being a vegetarian. He was human, mostly. Human with a little something else. He was also ten and a half feet tall, had monsterous claws and teeth, a spiked collar, and an inexplicably well fitted hoody that made him look like a big orange pumpkin.
Roxie (played anonymously)

A few animals darted out of the way of what looked like a big cat. Surprisingly they had the face of a human, with a very relaxed expression. She'd heard wood snapping earlier, and having nothing better to do with her time, decided to go see what was going on. Didn't help that her 'Sentry Station' as she called it literally never had anyone cross by it, and her supply of various hookahs, cigars, and cigarettes had been used up. She came out of the brush right behind a massive orange shape. "Whoa...." She muttered to herself surprised.
Lucy (played by Pure-Chan)

This part of the forest was unfamiliar to her. Pushing some of the branches out of the way Lucy cautiously made her way through the thick trees. She could barely see the path as it was. The girl gave a sigh of defeat.
"I guess I'm lost. I shouldn't have just walked in there without checking behind me first."
However her feet almost walked off into the canyon below. Flinching she quickly backed up a couple steps to save herself from falling.
"That was close."
She looked to see that there was no bridge across the canyon. Maybe she could make one...
A pair of very loud footsteps snapped her out of her thoughts. She turned around to see what looked like a big...pumpkin?
No, that's not possible. Pumpkins don't simply grow two feet and start walking around. Upon closer inspection it was actually Alf. Huh...she was surprised to see him here. Then again he did kinda live in this type of area anyway.
"What...are you doing?" she asked seeing some sort of strong sticks in his hand.

Alf fully stood, winging a length of reed in his hands. It was a relaxing pass time. Unfortunately, not nearly relaxing enough to help him deal with the peanuts gallery that had arrived in his serene neck of the forest.
"Making rope." He grumbled, barely looking up. He should have been surprised to have company but he just wasn't. It was getting to be such a common occurrence to have strangers bumping into him in the forest that it was hardly worth blinking at anymore.
"I'm busy, what do you want?"
Roxie (played anonymously)

The cat backed up a bit when the giant orange shape stood up and spoke, seemingly to a human she'd just noticed. "You're a big human.... a really REALLY big human....." She added, backing up a good distance. She glanced over at the human, who was just as small as she was next to Alf.
Lucy (played by Pure-Chan)

Lucy looked at the reeds. How was he supposed to make rope from sticks? She thought about watching him work, though his next remark made her think otherwise.
"Um...just wandering around and exploring." she paused trying to think of what she was going to explore, turning up with nothing. She sighed in defeat again.
"I'm lost. And almost fell into the canyon." she said a little bit embarrassed by it.
Another thought passed by her that maybe he was making a bridge or someway to cross the canyon.
"Could I...help with anything?" she asked hesitantly. She was sure he would say no, but...for some reason she wanted to ask.

Alf tipped his head back and looked at the sky, a clear 'why me' gesture.
"No shit." He returned to his rope winding, which was admittedly not going as well as before. He was twisting too hard. He must have rolled rope a thousand times in his lifetime, but it was something that needed to be done calmly. He was listening, at least, and after a minute or two he stopped winding to pinch his nose between his claws and take a long, calming inhale and exhale.
"No." He started. He didn't want help, but he kept his tone cool. He went silent another minute, considering. "But if you follow me, I'll walk you back." An alarmingly helpful offer from Alf, in a dry tone that suggested he wasn't looking forward to it.
It beat leaving them to wander in his space and bump into him again. She'd just fall into a canyon and wail all night, according to him, and then he'd lose sleep. That was Alf's excuse for being a good Samaritan.
Lucy (played by Pure-Chan)

Yep, she knew that he would say no. Obviously.
Lucy didn't expect him to offer to walk her back however. The face she made was a mix of very confused and curiosity. She blinked realizing she was staring a bit too much and shook her head to snap her out of it.
"Uh...sure. But I-I don't wanna mess up what you're doing right now." she stammered with a bit of a bewildered tone. She didn't really expect him to act this calmly and offer her help. Actually he'd never really done that considering the tensions between them.
Roxie (played anonymously)

The cat blinked, and regained her cool after a moment. "Well, I'm Roxie and you'rei n my terf." The Sphinx declared loudly before trotting out infront of Alf. She swipped a flower out of the ground with her fore paw and held it out. "Sniff of it. It smells like my pee, which means this is my territory. And if you walk through my territory you gotta solve three riddles within like... twenty minutes.... I think...." Roxie said scratching her head. "If you get them all right, you get to pass on through, but if you fail the riddles, I get to eat you. So if my awesome riddles are too hard for you don't complain cause I explained the rules." Roxie said, plopping down in front of Alf. She held up a paw, pointing one of her tiny paw fingers into the air and opened her mouth, before pausing. "Uh....." She said, as she thought. "Dammit! I left my riddle list at my station!" She groaned. "Uh.... what.... .has...... OH! What ahs four wheels and flies?" Roxie questioned.

"Meh." He dropped his reeds, having mostly made a mess of them at that point. "It wasn't important." Whatever was at the bottom of the canyon could wait. Alf had time. He had more time than he knew what to do with. "Just come on." He grumbled, and started to walk, but stopped mid-step when Roxie came out in front of him. His expression answered for him.
WHAT?
Who was this little-
Nevermind that. His brows slowly lowered and he crossed his arms, looking the part of the impatient door bouncer. Finally, she asked her riddle and Alf answered, twirling his index claws in front of him.
"You. When I punt your ass and you spin four times before you hit the ground. Move. I have places to be." He was having none of it, apparently.
Lucy (played by Pure-Chan)

Staring down at the mess of reeds, she blinked looking back up at Alf. She couldn't help but smile a little bit. She didn't say anything but nodded as she slowly followed behind him. She stopped mid-step as well when Roxie showed up in front of them. She frowned as the creature mentioned they had to solve riddles of some kind.
Daisy was all too familiar with riddles, though she herself wasn't really too good at them like her sister was.
"Four wheels and flies..." she mumbled to herself negating the fact that she never did notice Roxie there the whole time. She couldn't figure it out however and sighed.
When Alf gave his answer, she stifled a laugh. A typical thing to say for him.
"We are going somewhere, so...could we please pass?" she asked the creature not taking any steps closer.
Roxie (played anonymously)

"HA!" Roxie laughed triumphantly. "YOU GOT IT WRONG!" She stated, pointing a tiny paw finger at Alf. "The real answer is garbage truck." Roxie said, crossing her arms smuggly, that fact that she was just threatened completely soaring a good twenty feet over her head. She wasn't very smart. "And no. You gotta get a riddle right first. Those are the rules. Just ask all the other Sphinxes." Roxie added.

Alf's manners, if he had any, left him. If it was possible for him to frown any harder than he already was, then the man clearly wasn't doing it right, because he was putting everything into that frowny face. He snorted green fire, being a secret dragon and all, and lumbered forward like a train picking up speed.
"I'm just gonna walk over you now." He stayed at a casual pace, but it was immovable. He had places to BE, and his patience was shriveling up like a little raisen in the sun. If Lucy wanted to reason with it, that was her business, but he just couldn't be bothered to try.
Roxie (played anonymously)

"Whoa! You gotta answer two more R-Y-YOU'RE BREAKING THE RULES!" Roxie yelped indignantly, quickly hopping out of the way as to avoid being squished. She snorted defiantly. "Fine, then I'll follow you." She said, trotting after Alf.
Lucy (played by Pure-Chan)

Even Lucy knew the answer to that riddle did not make any sense at all, even if she wasn't good at them. She frowned at the creature, not sure what to say to convince it to let them pass.
She blinked as Alf didn't want to simply go around it and was planning on walking over the creature. She sighed, placing a hand over her eyes. She couldn't just tell him off though, he was trying to get her out of the forest. She followed Alf right behind. The creature had moved out of the way but chose to follow behind them.
"Um...I think you should keep distance from Alf. He can be...well short tempered when coming across an obstacle he doesn't want to deal with." she told the creature as a warning.
Lucy had to run a bit to keep up with Alf's strides, sometimes almost tripping on some things.

Self-satisfied that the sphinx had moved, Alf continued on, going on faith that he had Lucy in tow. He barely adjusted his pace, mindful not to walk too fast, but not feeling generous enough to slow down to something comfortable for everyone. He only stopped once in a while to snuff at the air. The area around the gate was usually a clutter of scents, and he was following his own back.
Except... his own seemed to be spotty. It wasn't a continuous trail. He went in a circle once, glanced back to see that they were still behind him, and then snuffed some more. Something wasn't right. One moment he had a trail, the next it was gone, and that just had no business being true. It should have been a clear shot to home. He didn't -know- yet, that they weren't actually home. They'd crossed into another place, and had been actively crossing between depending on where they were on the 'path' he'd carved out of the trees.
"Somethin's not makin' sense." He furrowed his brows and looked back at Lucy. "How long you been out here?"
Lucy (played by Pure-Chan)

Lucy continued to follow Alf and his bright orange hoodie. It wasn't really hard to spot him in a very green forest. She started to get concerned however when they had walked on a lot longer than it would take. She looked around, but all she could see was more trees. There just seemed to be no end to them.
She stopped as he turned to talk to her. His face seemed to be confused and concerned almost.
"I've...only been out here for an hour I think? Maybe two..." she replied frowning as well. "We...should have come across something by now but..." she paused now growing a concerned look on her face. Were they all lost no matter where they go?
"Oh no..." she mumbled starting to get a bit scared.

Alf was thinking, but after a little while he just.. stopped. He had a hunch. He'd been between worlds before. He'd seen Alyson's traveling tavern, and he remembered he had the coin she'd give him if it became an issue he couldn't find another way out of.
"It's fine." He muttered, in a distant voice, rather than a comforting one. Then shrugged the worry away and adopted the sort of attitude bears had before they decided to hibernate for the winter months. He wasn't going to get in a hurry. "We'll pitch camp and try again tommorrow." He opted not to mention he thought they might be lost, lost. That would just complicate things, and require explanations he didn't feel like giving.
Roxie (played anonymously)

"EXCELLENT!" Roxie declared like a Saturday morning cartoon villain. "Now I really get to plan out my riddles." She said, putting her paws together snickering with villainish glee. "Also I'm hungry." She added.
