AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! SO excited! It looks fantastic and the Sherlock team is in it! I mean come on Martin Freeman as Bilbo rocks! For those who don't know he has played Arthur Dent and Dr. Watson. AND Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug just is amazing! What a great voice talent! Plus they have Gandalf, Elrond, and Galadriel back from the LOTR movies. So pretty much this movie is already great even though we haven't seen it yet! Cannot wait!
Wow Rubix I think you just had a fangasm XDXDXD

I love the song in the trailer! And I saw that boycott too, how ridiculous! I'll definitely be seeing it when it comes out! The only disappointing thing is that it is still a year away! D:

My assistant manager (a 40 year oldish male) is fangirling over this too. If it lives up to the lotr movie parallels you can expect me to, as well. I sadly can't view the trailer's on grampa's computer. Whenever my car gets fixed and I can get wifi again I'll definitely preview it.

The one thing I dread is the horrible videogames that will follow. Lotr as epic as it is has had atrocious games, and the one attempt at a hobbit game many years ago was a travesty.

Fingers crossed, movies and game both. I do hope for and expect the best.

Jeez, yeah. I know there's one for the computer, which I know nothing about, and I have one for the GameBoy Advance. It's... well, not atrocious, but pretty bad... alas! I think it would have to be all done in watercolor paintings or ink drawings!

The one game I really liked is Battle for Middle Earth 2. Perhaps not the greatest of RTS' but it was still fun.

Last time I played, Boromir took on and defeated the Witch King single handed. Not satisfied with that, he then killed Sauron!

Just goes to show, don't mess with Sean Bean.

Looks like they have decided two movies wasn't enough.

Doesn't it come out in December this year sometime? Or, by the sound of it, the first part at least?

Yeah, December 14th. Then part 2 is December 13th 2013 and part 3 in the summer of 2014 :)

Haha, the day after my birthday, the day on my birthday and then summer. Nicely timed XD Certainly going to get tickets as soon as possible.

Mmm.. I am interested to see how they make two films out of it, considering they turned Lotr's into three. Doesn't seem right, really. They were even considering dragging The Hobbit out into three films as well. It makes me wonder whether or not they're more interested in filling their purses, or actually representing the books.

Plus, I really hate waiting for films, like I do waiting for a good book in a triology. (Hurry up Patrick Rothfuss!) ...It makes me feel uncomplete.

I can't think of better way to celebrate your birthday than by visiting Middle Earth. Twice in a row! ;)

This is what Peter Jackson had to say about making a third and I think it's a great idea.
Quote:
Jackson stated, “Upon recently viewing a cut of the first film, and a chunk of the second, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and I were very pleased with the way the story was coming together. We recognized that the richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, gave rise to a simple question: do we tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as filmmakers and fans was an unreserved ‘yes.’ We know the strength of our cast and of the characters they have brought to life. We know creatively how compelling and engaging the story can be and—lastly, and most importantly—we know how much of the tale of Bilbo Baggins, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur would remain untold if we did not fully realize this complex and wonderful adventure. I’m delighted that New Line, MGM and Warner Bros. are equally enthusiastic about bringing fans this expansive tale across three films.”
I, er, never really liked LOTR??

But I'm obliged to see these films because of Martin!Bilbo and Benedict!Smaug. Shallow? Yes. I have no regrets.
