The bottoms of my pictures keep getting the bottoms cut off even when there really isn't much reason for it.

For example:


Couldn't that just have made the thumbnails look similar to the avatar rather then cut off her legs?

That's how the gallery thumbnails used to work. However, people complained that the gallery looked very "ragged" with every single thumbnail a different size and shape, so we moved to same-size thumbnails for galleries. I do not have any current plans to change this.
