On a cool morning, the legendary forest that houses the rumored lake that provides the drinker with immortality was unusually quiet. The grounds near the entrance were coated in a fresh crimson liquid as various shadows retreated towards the trees surrounding the area. A slowly dying man remained face first on the cool grass with a look of horror wretched on his face. He was trying to process what had just happened, "W-Was...that the shadows....I heard so much about...?" Was the last thing he said before he perished.

A metallic voice rang around the forest, laughing slightly. "Foolish human... You only came here for selfish desires... You care not for anyone but yourself and you paid the ultimate price for it." It spoke in a condescending manner. "You were quite interesting though... That look of horror was priceless..."

Lilith walked along the sunlit path, the rising sun in the sky making for a quite pretty show as she stepped along. A blue, gold, and silver bookbag softly sat on her back. Holding the usual things she needed when traveling. Maps, a few extra tools that she may need as well as a few fruits. She was armed, at least a litttle. A small dagger was neatly hidden inside her right boot. Her boots went up to her tights, so putting the dagger there really wasn't a fuss to her.
The silver and gold that were the dominatig colors of her outfit glinted softly in the sun's light. She was in a calm mood. Nothing seemed to be bothering her today. Not after this.
She didn't realize how wrong she was. That everything would be calm and happy for the rest of the day.
It all changed as she stepped into the meadow clearing. The stench of human blood hitting her nose like an uppercut on a bad day. She almost gagged as the stench caught her sensitive nose off guard with the sickly metallic smell.
She quickly jogs forward after collecting herself, jogging forward to find what was making the stench. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw it. A man sprawled out on the ground before the forest. His head face-first into the puddle of blood that had built around him. The earth almost seemingly disaproving of the man's blood.
He must've done something he shouldn't.
She slowly steps forward, her bright blue eyes scanning the body. To see what had killed him. She considered bloodloss as a possibility, but the wounds had to be caused by something. She stopped just before her feet touched any of the blood that soaked the earth's surface. "I wonder..." She mumbles softly as black and gold wings suddenly appeared on her back, extending out a little. She flaps her wings, lifting her body up as to not touch the blood that plagued the ground as she hovered closer, to get a better look. Someone definitely had skills to kill a man like this.
She chuckles softly and reaches out and dragged a finger through the blood before smearing the blood onto the man's face. Making a smile with the blood. One like a clowns' makeup. Using her foot to softlt kick his head back against the ground before she drops to the ground. Time to head back on her way again. But her gaze went to the forest which the man had been facing when he died.

The shadows had begun to surround the newcomer, "So... We have another fool here, hmm?" The voice spoke in seemingly all directions, as if coming from the shadows themselves. "Was the poor sap in front of you not enough of a warning?" It continued speaking condescendingly towards the girl. "So, what brings you to my woods? Are you here for immortality or is there some other reason you're here for?" The shadows wrapped themselves around her arms and legs, seemingly teasing her for a few moments.

A shiver runs through Lilith as she felt the shadows wrap around her. She was surrounded, except for the escapeway up. But she figured they wound stop her before she even got the chance.
She blinks as she heard the word immortality, "Why the hell would I want immortality? I live long enough as is."
She gulps softly as she shifted her legs, a bit uncomfortable that the shadows were teasing her, playing with her like this.
It didn't seem to be multiple people though. As if all the shadows were connected to one thing.
But she stays silent about it. "I'm passing through, to get to my next destination and this route was the fastest." She sighs softly. and appariently it's a dead end as well.

A few laughs rang around her, "I can confirm immortality isn't what it's lived up to be..." Unlike previously, the voice rang with a pained loneliness. Rin has been in that forest for over two thousand years. Alone. Though, that was mostly his fault as he killed those who were foolish enough not to run. "Perhaps you might honor me with your name?" The shadows receded away from her.

"My name's Lilith." She replied as she watches the shadows recede. Letting out a mental sigh of relief as shw relaxed a little. "What's your namw?" She asked, looking around for the main person.

"I am Rin..." It responded in a calm tone, the shadows now receded back towards the trees. "Why don't you come closer?" The voices no longer had that metallic sound to it, rather he was using his real voice. A calm, quiet voice that tinged with loneliness. A path towards the lake was created with the shadows.

Lilith blinked and growled slightly under her breath. Her wings folding agaainst her back before disappearing. "Why should I? After all, not even five minutes ago you were about to kill me for looking at the forest alone."
She said as she didn't budge from her spot. Wanting a reason to step closer. She didn't want to just walk up to there, because she wasn't that trusting of strangers anyways.

The shadows were silent for just a few moments, "I'm simply the guardian of the woods... I had to determine whether or not your intentions were just... But, I will not force you to approach..." The voice once again fell silent. The shadows were still, creating for an eerie silence.

Lilith sighs softly before she stepped closer to the forest. She couldn't help but feel a little bad. He was just protecting the forest after all.
She stops once she was at the forest's edge. Putting a hand on the base of a tree before she leans against it softly.
"Just had to make sure it wasn't just a trick. I get tricked by others quite often."

"I only kill those who have had ill intentions regarding the lake...however, I do not sense any coming from you. You are not here for fame and fortune...for political gains...or for yourself. I'm intrigued." Rin responded with a slight sigh. The lake was in the dead center of the forest. Rin himself was sitting on a large rock in the center of the lake. The intense loneliness he felt seemingly permeated the lake shores itself. "I apologize for getting off on the wrong start with you... If you wish to leave, I won't stop you..."

Lilith pushes herself off from against the tree and moved closer to the lake. But before she got to the lake's edge she stops and sits down in the grass. "I can spare some time. I have a long time to live anyways. I may not be immortal, but I will live for a long time. As long as I'm careful not to get killed before old age." She chuckles slightly and looks at the man who was in the center of the lake, curiously.

"Trust me... Immortality isn't what it's lived up to be." Rin responded with a tired tone. "Having to watch the world age while you sit there...essentially trapped in a never aging body." Rin was wearing a black cloak, concealing most of his pale skin. His blood red eyes seemingly glistened with sadness. "My job here is to ward people away from immortality...they believe it to be a wonderful thing. But, watching the ones you grow close to get old and die while you live on...is rather dull."

"From what you're saying, is it safe to presume that you're immortal yourself?" She says in a polite tone as her gaze runs over the lake. Watching how the sun reflected off of the surface, and nothing more. It was a known thing for her. That immortality wasn't fun. That's why she travels around the world in the time she has. To properly enjoy the world until that one day she'd be sent to join the shadows.

"Unfortunately... Though, I am at fault as I was the one that drank from the lake." Rin responded with a sigh, "I would love to see the world...but, I am confined to the forest and the villages surrounding these parts..." He smiled slightly at her, enjoying the peaceful conversation with someone for once. "Anyways... Allow me to properly introduce myself... I am Rin of the Shadow Demons, we have been watching over humanity since they have first arrived on this planet."

Lilith frowned at him. First off, glad that she wasn't stupid enough to actually drink the lake's water, and secons. Kind of sad that he is confined to the boundaries of the forest and vilages.
"It's nice to meet you Rin. Especially om a nice dah like this." She smiles softly. Trying to bring up the mood.

"Yeah... It is a pretty nice day. It's certainly a lot better to have someone to talk with..." Rin smiled softly, "If you don't mind me asking, where were you headed to anyways? Most people follow the river near the village to get around the forest..." His voice held genuine curiosity at this point. He stood up and approached Lilith, curious about her. He certainly found her attractive, but then again, this was the first time he's seen anyone so close in some time.

"Heading to Hollowgrove which is still quite a distance away. A few dozen miles or so. Heard it's a real tourist attraction with the gold their digging up, plus the trees down there are known for being huge. And I wanted to check it out."
She smiles at him, her blue eyes studying him as he approached.

"I see..." Rin smiled slightly, sitting back down near her. "Would it be too much trouble to request some food from the place? I'd be most grateful." He no longer sounded like the murderous shadow monster he was just twenty minutes ago, but now he seemed like the average person. He simply longed for someone he could talk with. Lilith was doing an excellent job at providing him with some comfort.

Lilith smiles at him. "Sure. I'll make sure to do that. Any preferences?" She asks, curious as to if he liked meat to the same extent as her. But her dragon counterpart made her really fond of meat, mostly because it's a dragon's main diet.
