Twenty years after the peak of interstellar travel and exoplanet colonization, the homeworld Earth began to decay both as a society and an environment. Rapidly dropping temperatures, high amounts of radiation, and war made the planet near inhabitable. Desperate to save their planet of origin, scientists began to take animal testing to another level: adding robotic limbs, combining species, and extreme exposure to specific substances, all in an effort to manufacture the gene that enables survival in this habitat.
However, the animals do not wish to spend their life in captivity. They learn of the Other Worlds, colonies where such cruelty is outlawed. They begin to fight back, and one by one the humans notice that every day, they clock in to another broken, empty crate....
((you can play as a test subject or a scientist, whatever you prefer! the end goal for the animals is to find a way to escape to other planets. the end goal for scientists is to find a way to stop their experiments from escaping so that they can save earth. characters (animal or human) can be of the following types:
-normal (no mutations)
-cyborg
-hybrid creature
-magical (please keep limitations in mind!) ))

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (generation ships)
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Details: Freeform, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.
This is a really cool idea, I totally dig it. I am down to play some form of mutated animal experiment! I'll have to brainstorm exactly what, though... xD

ay thanks!! take your time brainstorming, there's no rush ^^
This sounds fun. Mind if I join with Jekka? His current setting could work with the plot of this RP, but you can suggest changes if you like.

certainly!! he'd be more than welcome to join
EDIT: lol accidentally posted something and I can't find a delete button
Let me know if anything needs changing!
I kinda' went nuts with a mutant concept. xD - Hopefully extinct and/or mystical DNA is okay to play with!
Name: Test Subject-GR1FF1N
Age: 26 years
Sex: Male
Species: Archaeopteryx genetically blended with smilodon
Height: 4’10” at the feral shoulder
Weight: 1,600 lbs.
Fur/Feathers/Scales: Fur is golden-tan, feathers are varying shades of slate blue and green, scales are yellow-green
Eyes: Fierce copper
Build: Bulky despite being half-avian
Occupation: Test subject
Concept: Enraged specimen
Appearance: Every ounce of subject GR1FF1N says “killer.” Standing at nearly five feet at the feral shoulder, this monstrous union of archaeopteryx and smilodon DNA has spawned a creature that resembles something straight out of human nightmares. A devilish, beak-like maw filled with sharp fangs houses the two fiercest set of copper-colored eyes which seem to snap and move with furious judgment. Feathers in dusky, stone-colored hues of blue and green adorn the fore of his muscular body, his fore-limbs covered in green-yellow scaling much like a predatory bird. Wings only large enough to carry the bulky creature for short glides are far more brilliant in color with the primary feathers taking on an azure blue coloration. The hind-section of his body resembles that of a saber-toothed tiger, rippling with sinew and sporting hind-legs with sinister, feline claws. The fur of his pelt is mostly golden tan with a half-mane of reddish-brown trailing from his mid-back to the base of his short, stub-tail.
Personality: Over time, subject GR1FF1N has grown to be cold and angry. Maybe there was a time when he could have been calm, perhaps even happy, but that chance was long since stolen; replaced by needles, experiments and the most terrible of tortures. He never once knew freedom except in the words he learned as he grew, the DNA-patches used to help stitch the newly-created life-form together offering him a slightly mystical blood-line and the ability of sentience and speech. He learned to hate them: the scientists. How they used and abused the animals in their care, destroyed those who didn’t live up to their staunch standards and tortured those that wouldn’t comply. GR1FF1N himself suffered such torture and continues to do so simply because he refuses to submit to these horrible masters. He is fiery, defiant, vengeful and fiercely independent; working with other creatures to escape might not come naturally but if he intends to survive…he’ll have to make do.
History: All GR1FF1N knows and remembers is being in a cage and being told what to do. Stand here. Sit there. Stick your paw out. Open your mouth. Take your injection. Stretch your wings. Jump over this. Jump through this. Solve this puzzle. Find this item. How many boxes are in this room?
But then things became slowly sinister.
How long can you go without food? At what temperature do you start to go into hypothermia? How much of an electric shock does it take to debilitate you? How long can you go without oxygen? Can you survive on polluted water? How much radiation can you withstand?
As it turns out…yes and quite a bit. Nothing the scientists ever did ever killed project GR1FF1N, it only served to make him angrier. The more time passed, the more he learned. The mystical strain of his DNA had allowed him to evolve into sentience and develop an ever-growing mind. He did well in his early tests because he was a success but to just what extent hasn’t yet become clear. Whilst the scientists debated what to do with the tough but sometimes volatile creature GR1FF1N merely waited and he plotted. If there was going to be a chance for escape, it would have to be soon…despite his success his violent demeanor had earned him enough flags for destruction to be an option on the table. GR1FF1N knows what that means and he doesn’t intend to let any scientist stick death-serum in his veins.

: ooo i adore him! he is definitely welcome in this rp ^^ if you'd like, i can doodle up a quick ref sheet for him later on?
also i might want to make one of these for downtime haha
If it's not a hassle, sure! I love seeing other people's art of my characters.
I might do something of Downtime in return, I simply LOVE his design. ^-^

ok
I finally made my character (Test Subject #43: Sly) and I would love some feedback on her! I'm very new to designing characters and roleplaying, but I like how I made the personality and design. Is there anything I should change?
