Jackie followed after the Guards as they left. "Do we have a map?" She asked. The Sargent nodded. "Yep." He said. The Sargent pulled a rolled up map out of the bag he had with him. "We're checking the hills and forest to the North." The Sargent explained as they headed out. Heinrich and Wilhelm followed before splitting off on their own.

With the soldiers heading North Wilhelm and Heinrich went out to the South. Outside the walls was nothing special. Paths lead out in several directions and looking down them a wagon pulled by a donkey with a Dwarf on the back. He was an older Dwarf. Grumbling along the path. He was about five hundred meters down the road and slowly approaching.

Heinrich looked down the path, seeing the Dwarf. "That man is alone." He said, indicating ht Dwarf. "Our scouting can wait. Let's go over to him and ensure he is able to get to the outpost safely." Heinrich said.


Not far off the path was a hill. The side facing the path had been weathered away, leaving a short cliff. The hill came out just before a forest began. The Revenant strode up to the top, glaring down at the path. After his talk with Himler, he'd prepared a raiding party before heading out with one of Himler's chimeras. The Revenant looked down, seeing the lone Dwarf on the path. A grin formed on his decrepit face. He drew one of his swords, the blade quickly turning orange as it began to heat up. "ATTACK!" He roared. A small horde of undead, made up of at least fifty undead, tore through the trees as they swarmed forwards towards the Dwarf.

The sudden cry out and hundreds of feet came thundering into Wilhelm's ears. Turning to see the horde charging he draws his blade.
"Heinrich be ready!" He cries as numerous of the decayed creatures attack. Most seemed humanoid likely humans of elves who fell on their trips. The level of decay indicated some time though. The Dwarf tried to make his donkey move faster and with the approaching hoard and clicking of leather straps on its body it rushes forward. Not nearly as fast as a horse but quick enough to gain a good start while the undead horde approached. Slashing horizontally six were sliced in half with a mighty swing splitting them as the others lunged for the Paladin. Several of the undead however were also animals. Such as bears and numerous fox like creatures.

Heinrich drew his axe, slashing through many undead as he and Wilhelm fought. The Revenant glared down at them form the hill. "Paladins. Of course." He snarled. "Kill them." He ordered. The Chimera stepped forward, emitting a deep below before it charged forward.

Heinrich saw the Chimera chargin them and growled. "Wilhelm, you handle the undead. I'll take care of that beast." Heinrich said, charging forward towards the Chimera, slicing through whatever got in his way.

Slashing through several more of the undead his blade was soaked in the blood and juices of their decaying forms. Hearing the familiar bellow Wilhelm looks up to the beast. His blood ran cold seeing another of these monstrosities.
'Heinrich you don't understand how this creature acts!" He cries as a zombie Dwarf leaps onto him. He swings around trying to get it off as it bites into his shoulder. The decayed jar breaking on the mesh armor up there. The Chimera lunges forward with its large hand extended. As it does Heinrich's axe swing cuts off the hand and the beast cries out. The hand falls to the ground with a thump but it charges still slamming into the Paladin. Its stump leaked a tar like blood and hand melted and burnt away into the foul smelling black goo.

Heinrich bracedh imself as the Chiemra continued its charged after the hand was severed. Thanks to the Orc in him, he slowed the beast down, but didn't stop it. Heinrich heaved forward, shoving the Chimera back just enough for him to side step out of its path. As he did, he swung his axe, cutting off the other hand.

With both hands removed the beast cried out. Slamming the oozing stump into Heinrich's face the beast tackled him to the ground. Putting around a ton of weight onto him Heinrich would certain feel the pressure of the beast. impacting him. Wilhelm shook off the zombie and drawing his blade he infused it with holy energy. He let out a fierce war cry as he slammed it into the ground sending a shock wave which shredded all undead in its way. The downside was the ground was torn up rather badly. Swinging around himself he decimated those behind him. The undead were little threat to him. Destroying the majority he ran to help Heinrich as he was jumped by a zombie bear and three zombie elves.

Heinrich spat the ooze out of his mouth as he was tackled. A hand shot out, holding the Chimera's snapping jaws back. Heinrich released his axe, before a ball of light formed in his other hand. He placed his free hand to the beast's chest, before a powerful beam of holy light shot from his hand, throwing the beast off and burning into its chest. Heinrich quickly rose to his feet and grabbed his axe. The blade began to glow as he prepared a strike. Heinrich raised his axe. "RADIANT JUDGEMENT!" He roared as he swung down. The energy stored up in the blade shot out as a powerful wave. The Chimera had gotten to its feet as the wave hit it, slicing it clean in half down the middle.

The Chimera stumbled to its feet as the axe came down. The glowing blade slashed it down the middle it burst in half splitting and flaming with its body smoldering. The body began to rapidly decay and burst reduced to a smoldering mess with some orange and hot embers in the mess. Wilhelm struck around with his blade destroying the remaining zombies.

Heinrich turned, seeing most undead destroyed, though there were a few stragglers. He and Wilhelm made short work of them. Heinrich noticed the Dwarf was still close, an undead having damaged the wheel of his cart. Heinrcih approached. "Are you alright?" He questioned.

A snarl escaped the Revenant. He turned and went back to the dwarven fortress. The door swung open, nearly being torn of its hinges by the Revenant as he entered. He was quick to hunt down Himler. "HIMLER!" He roared, shoving through the undead that got in his way. He soon found the Necromancer in what was the fortress's archives. The Revenant grabbed Himler by the neck, hoisting him into the air. What ever undead were in the room that would come to Himler's defense would find themselves stuck in place by the Revenant's shadow magic. Even the Chimeras wouldn't be strong enough to break the grip the shadows had on them. "Your Chimera was pathetic!" The Revenant roared. "There were Paladins there. Two. ONE of them took down your damned Chimera!" The Revenant roared.

The Dwarf brushed himself off.
"I'm fine." He says seeing the broken wheel on his cart. "Blasted monsters." He says glaring to the broken bodies behind him.

Himler chocked. He gasped for air as he heard the enraged spirit speak. He kicked his legs about grasping the arm tightly squeezing his neck.
"How?" He gasps. "That shouldn't have been so easy." He managed to get out from his almost crushed windpipe. "The Chimera are only so strong." He says with a restrained voice. "They're too impure. The Paladins are likely too strong for them. I can only create what I have access to." He says trying to defend his mistake.

Heinrich bent down and inspected the wheel. "The outpost will be able to repair it." He said. "I'm not sure if you're aware, but the caravans coming to and leaving the outpost have been under attack for nearly two weeks now." Heinrich explained as he stood up. "What are you carrying?" He questioned. "Perhaps the undead are seeking something?" He offered, glancing at Wilhelm.

The Revenant roared, throwing Himler to the ground. "If your creations are so worthless as to not stand up to the biggest threat to our Master's plan, why should I let you live?" The Revenant questioned as he loomed over Himler, his blade still drawn, and still glowing with heat. "Give me one damn reason why I shouldn't just kill you now and collect that book myself." He hissed, his eyes glowing bright orange as he stared down at Himler.

Wilhelm thought about this. Something was off. Something did not make sense here. The Dwarf spoke.
"I've got trading goods and orders. A few boxes of paper books and library books. Three crates of cogs and other wooden devices for water wheels. Nothing I can see these corpses needing." He explains and the Paladins look to each other. "We'll make sure you and your cargo are escorted safely." Wilhelm says seeing nothing of major interest from his stated cargo.

Hitting the dusty floor clouds of dust shoot up. Himler coughs and gasps. "Well why didn't you? If you were there and had the Paladins in your sight with all your great power you could have destroyed them." He snarls standing. "You could have taken the book there and then. But now the Paladins likely have it in the city itself assuming that one had it. Which was my plan." He sneers to the larger spirit.

Heinrich was quiet, before he and Wilhelm began to make their way back to the Outpost.

The Revenant snarled. "You incompetent Dolt! I may be leagues above these pathetic shambling corpses, but I was brought back by Dark Magics. I am as susceptible to Holy magic as they are." The Revenant said, indicating the Zombies. "I might be strong. But the Paladin that killed your Chimera was a Councilman. Even with my own strength and power I would be no match for him once his Holy magic got involved." The Revenant hissed. He paused as he thought. "However....." He began. "I know of a ritual that would strengthen me." The Revenant. He began to cackle. "It would strengthen the rest of these dusty corpses!" He said as an idea formed. "The supplies from the raids. Did you keep them?" He questioned.

"The supplies?" He asks curiously. "The supplies were left were they were dropped. We raided some armor and weapons however which are stored downstairs. The Dwarves had a large amount of resources here. Granted the floors below us are still toxic." He says stomping the ground. "What ritual are you speaking of?" He asks curiously. The holy magic was an issue. But not one they couldn't over come.

"A ritual that gives that gives the undead a resistance to Holy magic." The Revenant said. "It doesn't grant immunity, but the resistance it provides could nulify a majority of the threat the Paladin's pose." The Revenant said. "I will find what the dwarves kept here. You find out when the next shipments of supplies are to arrive at the outpost and have a horde intercept them and retrieve the supplies." The Revenant said, grabbing an old book from one of the shelves. He couldn't care less what was in it. He tore a page out and, using his shadow magic, began to write down a list of needed materials before handing it to Himler. "Make sure you're able to get these ingredients." He said, before he turned to leave.

Himler took the list. Looking it over he figured out the ritual.
"The supplies needed to make this work efficiently are no where near us. This ritual is a shadow incarnation. Not something I'm specialist in." He looks to his rather annoyed 'ally'. "But I can perform it to a degree. I should be able to give protection to some. Though the more I need to spread it over the weaker it will become. I'd say only about ten. Maybe eleven individuals including you." He says unhappy with his capability. However the Revenant would need to accept this. It's the only way he will be able to get this. He wished to not fail here as if their lord saw this as failure he would be treated like a hindrance and not an asset. This thought horrified him.

"We'll make due with what we have." The Revenant said. "As I said, find out when the next caravans are to arrive and have them raided for their supplies." The Revenant said before leaving to the lower levels of the Fortress.

The Scouts and Jackie roamed the forest for a few hours, not finding anything. The grave sites were undisturbed. Decrepit, but undisturbed. They'd stopped with Jackie having climbed to the top of a tree to better help them figure out where they were. "The outposts to the South West." Jackie called out. She paused when shen oticed something moving through the foliage. She climbed across the tree tops before getting to a perch. A lone Zombie, a survivor of the earlier raid, was shambling through the woods. Jackie's eyes widened. She made her way back over to the scouts. "I found a Zombie!" She declared quietly. "Did you kill the dreadful thing?" Asked one of the scouts. Jackie shook her head. "We need to follow it. I think it's going back to where it came from." She said.

The decaying zombie had lost an arm in the conflict. It apparently had enough of its mind remaining to know when to flee. From the attack on the Paladins or another strike it stumbled back. Lurking through the woods as the odd bit of thick jelly like blood dropped to the forest floor. As it moved along and the scouts behind the undead form made it to the hills. The path into the hills didn't go very far. Only about twenty meters towards a cave. But as the zombie approached the cave a bellowing growl could be heard. Out of the cave leaped another Chimera. It bit down on the zombie and dragged the still body in it's jaws back into the darkness of the cave. It would seem to act like a guard dog. The zombie may not have meant to be back yet and was classed as an intruder. The large beast now gone must be near something. After all these Chimera weren't wild or natural.
