His name was Kai and he was a merman. Well, merboy would be a better description, being that he was only 10. Right now he broke through the surface and was watching a group of humans sitting on a boat trying to catch a glimpse of a mermaid or merman. It made his giggle at how eager these people were. Why? Kai knew that he and his kind were rare, in fact, most believed they didn't exist. But it still confused him as to why they would be so intrigued.
Grinning mischievously, the young merboy slipped under the water and he went over to the boat. Once there, there was a guy and girl sitting at the edge not paying attention. So he promptly splashed them!

(I'll be rping the merboy, a Merman, and a mermaid.)

The boy rested on the boat swinging his legs back and forth against the surface of the water, why his father dragged him on this crazy fishing trip is beyond him, and all because of rumors of a mermaid. No wonder the other kids made fun of him, his father was a nut.

Well, it does have to be that way. I put that for if romance comes up but I can have both my characters be straight. Kai is.)

While Kai was busy splashing some humans, Keslia surfaced beside some rocks a foot or two away. Her eyes danced with amusement at the merboy's behavior. It was just like a child to be that way. Shaking her head, she spotted a human boy sitting on the edge and she smiled faintly. Then she swam over, staying under the water as she got closer.

(Just so you know, I was ok with the original pairings, that's why I joined.)

Oceane's blue hair matched the waves as she swam along, though hearing the sound of fins splashing nearby, she canted her head. Curious, she ducked back under the waves, her fins moving her fast toward the sound. Coming upon two other merfolk, she pressed her lips together in amusement. Seemed like fun! She'd swim up near the other mermaid, gently tapping her on the back of the shoulder in greeting.

Chenelle was on the boat, her tail disguised as legs. She was humming to herself when she was suddenly splashed. With a gasp, she spun around and looked in the water.
