Hanlon is a quiet girl of 18. She has been living with a foster family for the last few years. Recently they have moved to a new town.
Hanlon's early home life was unconventional and was disaproved of by the government. The girl had been kept at home away from most of human society until the age of 14 when the government stepped in to remove her from her birth family. Hanlon had never been outside of her home nor gone to school before and had to start in a grade far below that of other teens her age. Hanlon was raised to believe herself to be more clever than other people and being a full 4 years older than any of her classmates has not damaged her presumed self importance.
Due to a paperwork kerfuffle between her old school and the new school Hanlon has been pushed back a grade(She is 18 and a high school Freshman for the 2nd time). As she has no interest in repeating the same work again, Hanlon, has taken to doing as little schoolwork as possible and occasionally skips going to school entirly some days.
Her foster parents usually have a very relaxed and hands off approch to raising Hanlon, but with her grades falling they have hired a tutor for their daughter.
Looking for a character to be Hanlon's tutor, a classmate or teacher.
Tutor thing is only a suggestion.
Clean romance possible but not required.

On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?

Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.
Romance is desired but not required, and will balance evenly with other plot.
