The 'summer' of 1816.

Decimus was a struggling man; as the son of a lawyer and a whore with few credentials. Due to the facts, employment was almost out of the question, and there was no hope of receiving a large sum of money from some rich dead relative. The money given to him was on his last legs, and it was so cold. Decimus had developed a chronic flu.

Fearing of the poor homes, Decimus had been trying to pick up as much work as he could. Usually, he wasted his money on alchool.

He lay, passed out on the ground, dipping in and out of consciousness.

Anita almost tripped as she walked through the crowded bar, looking down she saw a passed out drunk lying on the floor. She stepped over him, and scanned the room for her connection. She had come here with a sketchy circus group, although she had no talents. Just a pretty face, and small waist, that's what mattered.

If only she could find this guy, that apparently could set her up with a couple train tickets, and better life. The bar was thinning out by this hour, and she desperately hoped no one would try to talk to her, if they did she might just punch them.

A few hours passed, and eventually, Decimus pulled himself together enough to sit up, and find a seat. The side of his head began to rest the dirty table, causing him to groan in a sort of pain. He wanted to be rescued, really... but how could he. 23, and his life was already over. Fiddling with his last shilling in his hand, he pondered what to do with it... of course, he gave into his addiction.

Waddling over, he asked the barkeep for some scotch whiskey. Although after looking around, he could have swore he was hallucinating. A woman, in a bar?

"You look a little lost, dear." He said, voice slurred.

Anita was ready to snap something back, but then reconsidered she was actually a little lost and it might not hurt to ask if he knew this guy.

Glaring at this man she replied "I'm just looking for a man called samuel, have some information he might be looking for. I have no doubts that I can find him, but i'd be useful if you knew him."

"If you're looking for someone useful," he began, unable to keep himself stable against the bar, "you shouldn't be in a pub, milady." He finished, coughing slightly. "What contact did you have with this man before hand? Unless you're chasing dust..." even when he was drunk, Decimus liked to explain things in great lengths, and ask too many questions.

A pint of scotch whiskey soon scooted beside him, causing him to instantly pick up the glass and begin eating. He sang to himself, 'drunken whaler'

Suddenly doubting herself, she wondered if he would even help her. She had only overheard someone talking about this man, and would he really want to know about the circus money fraud, after all these things were common in traveling events. Her upkeeping came in and she thanked the man.

As she went to leave, some of the nastier guys at the circus came in alreadly drunk, and probably been kicked out of other places. Retreating back to the side of the bar where the man she was originaly next to was. With her back turned she ignored them and hoped they wouldn't recognize her in street clothes.
