"They cannot keep us down any longer! We must fight back! They cannot ignore us if we stand together! There are resistance members hidden all over these planets! We will find them and join them!"
Cheers and cries and semi-drunken roars filled the darkened street as a man stood on a rickety table a clenched fist in the air and a half empty liquor bottle in his hand the small crowd around him adding their own fists in the air like it meant something.

Marinelli Rosewind remained as always unmoved. She was sitting on her ship her back pressed against the windows of the control bay one long leg extended out and the other bent up. She quirked a dark auburn brow at the sound of the cheers and propped herself up on her elbow turning one bright blue eye over to the crowd watching them for a moment before she sighed and rolled her eyes at the sight. She was in some star system that she didn't care enough about to learn the name of on a job that wasn't paying her enough to sit here listening to these would be revolutionaries. Like a bunch of drunks on a small dark planet filled with casinos, brothels and that's about it could make a difference. She supposed she would pity them if it wasn't so ludicrously funny. It would only be a matter of them before the emperors guards would be coming by to break it up, not that they were particularly decent guards...if they were they wouldn't have been stationed in this backwater shithole in the far corner of the system and that would mean problems for her. She sat up with a groan her body stiff from having been stationary for so long and pulled out the pack of cigarettes that she swore was her last pack she had in her dark blue cargo pants. Tapping the pack against her leg for no other reason then because her father did it and she supposed it was now a necessary part of giving herself cancer she flipped the top up and lifted it to her lips letting her teeth catch one of the butts that was sticking up higher then the others. Stuffing the pack back into her pocket with one hand she lifted her other to the cig resting haphazardly between her lips and the tip of her metal finger flipped up like a cap and the torch inside it activated bringing it to her lips she took a long slow drag as it lit. She supposed there were some perks to being a cyborg.

Standing up and jumping off her ship she landed silently on the dusty ground. Marinelli was an intimidating woman but it had nothing to do with her looks and everything to do with how she carried herself. Standing at just barely five foot six and maybe one hundred and forty pounds on a good day her body was lean and stronger then it looked. Her grey tank top hid the cyborg implants down her spine that allowed her to walk again but did nothing to hide her robotic left arm the skin that connected to the arm was scarred and burned and jagged, a unsightly ugly old wound. She had long red hair and a pretty blue eyes of which only one of them was real the other one hidden by a fake blue contact that concealed her true crimson red robotic eye. She had a scar that cut down the side of her face cutting her eyebrow in half and rested just under that fake eye on her upper cheek. She flipped her hair to one side revealing the other side shaved looking over her shoulder as she tried to put some distance inbetween herself, the approaching guards, and the would-be revolutionaries

Just some background information

-Standard sci-fi takes place in space rp, laid back and fun but hopefully a long running, twist and turns type of thing. Open to romance but not focal point of story, please a minimum of 5 lines per reply :D

-Also feel free to add cultures, aliens, planets, tech as you see fit to the story this evil government is limited to this star system right now but if you guys want it can be expanded to a few other star systems. Very laid back, fun!
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

Aldrie had only recently struck out on their own, buying a tiny ship with what money they had earned. It wasn't anything special and often needed repairs, but it was all that they could afford and it worked well enough to get them from one repair shop to the next.
Aldrie had parked the little spacecraft in an empty lot and walked towards the closest repair shop, hoping that the cost of a used engine wouldn't be too high. They went up to whoever seemed to be in charge and found that the price would be far costlier than their funds would allow; after all, writing about strange findings in space paid very little. They decided to go down the street towards another store. They exited the expensive shop and saw a large, noisy crowd at the opposite end of the street. The engine could wait; they went towards the cheers and hollers to see what the fuss was about.

Marinelli weaved through the crowd easily maneuvering them with her head down trying to slip past.

"You there! Cyborg!" The drunken man on the table shouted pointing to her drawing the crowds attention to her "Fight with us!" he rallied with a lopsided grin.

Marinelli froze at that and sighed gritting her teeth, something about the way he yelled cyborg rubbed her the wrong way. But she turned and looked over at him flashing the man a dazzling smile "Sorry sweetheart, more a lover then a fighter" she said with a 'what can you do' kind of shrug her voice calm and slightly husky

"Then what about you!" he yelled pointing to Aldrie trying not to sound discouraged or embarrassed by the red headed cyborg
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

As Aldrie walked amongst the crowd trying to understand what was happening, they heard a loud yell that seemed to be directed at them. They turned in a full circle, trying to discern who had called to them, and their eyes settled on a rather drunken man standing atop a table.
A startled, "What," was all that they could mewl as the crowd's attention was drawn to them. They didn't know at all what was happening, nor what they might have walked into. Aldrie's body seemed to shrink as the inebriated members of the rally laughed at them. Aldrie attempted to back out of the laughs and looks of the crowd with a simple "no" and a shake of the head.

"come on! it's impossible to have so many cowards in one crowd!" The man retorted clearly beginning to get annoyed his mood shifting as quickly as his balance which he quickly struggled to recover to avoid falling off the table.

Mari took a long drag of her cigarette and had every intention to leaving Aldrie to fend for themselves. If anything she was grateful the crowds attention had shifted away from her. However a part of her pitied them, the small clearly uncomfortable tone in their voice brought the smallest pang of sympathy in her, she was half tempted to help them.

"Why so frightened?!" Another member of the crowd roared at them leaning forward and grabbing Aldrie's wrist to keep them from backing away
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

Aldrie flinched at being called a coward. Was it so cowardly to back out of something one didn't even understand? They tried to turn as the man appeared to lose his balance, but another swiftly grabbed their wrist and yelled something in their face. The man sloshed what was left of his cup of beer onto Aldrie's shoes, thoroughly soaking their toes as they processed what had been said.
"I-I just don't understand." They said at least somewhat audibly. The man laughed heartily in their face.
"Don't mean we can't teach ya!" He cried while dragging Aldrie closer to the table and the forcibly shoving him onto it. Aldrie turned in a panic and scanned the crowd for a pair of helpful--or even pitying--eyes.

Alright, Marinelli had let this go on long enough. She felt bad for the poor thing, though of course she told herself it was that this crowd was getting rowdy and she didn't want the guards barging in to break up the group and have her end up getting herself arrested, that would be just her luck.

With a sigh she rolled her eyes and opened her mouth to speak but was drowned out by the crowd shouting at Aldrie most of what they were drunken and unintelligible.

"Come on! teach the coward to fight!" one of them jeered sneering at the newcomer on the table.

Mari took her time as she approached the table weaving through it taking a final long pull of her cigarette not even half smoked out she flicked it into the dust at her feet and crushed it with her boot putting one foot up on the seat of the table she stood just as the drunken man threw a hard but poorly aimed punch right for Aldrie.

Marinelli moved faster then the drunk man could process, one moment he was reeling his fist back to punch and the next there was a red head standing inbetween him and Aldrie and his hand and collided painfully with a metal hand. She had caught his fist rather easy. The punch was sloppy and poorly thrown but he had swung hard enough where he probably broke a finger or two smashing it into the cold metal of her hand. Calmly, as if discussing the weather she looked over her shoulder at Aldrie and arched a her brow a scar cutting the thin auburn line of hair in half "you alright sweetheart?"
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

The crowd was getting louder and more excited as the seconds ticked by. Aldrie became even more distressed as some of the crowd were encouraging the drunken man to teach them how to fight. They could fight well enough--under much less pressure and with some mental preparation, and preferably with a working ship--,but the man was yelling at them over the crowd.
"Got it? Good!" The man held up his fists and even Aldrie knew that his form would never win a fight, but that didn't stop the man from swinging. Aldrie ducked out of the way, but there was suddenly a woman standing between them and the man. She spoke and Aldrie strained above the crowd to hear her, and then nodded. They let their shoulders relax a bit now that someone sober appeared to be in control, however intimidating they may be.
"Thank you," Aldrie immediately says out of habit, although it is sincere. They peek around the woman at the drunken man, who appears to have broken his hand on her metal arm.

The man let out a cry of shock and pain looking at the redhead clearly afraid as she gripped his busted hand "You talk to loud" she said looking away from Aldrie rolling her eyes over to the drunken man.

"P-Please let go" he shouted trying to pull his hand away out of her iron like grip

"Apologize" Marinelli demanded her voice still perfectly calm

W...w-what?" He asked looking too drunk and in too much pain to fully comprehend what she was saying

"Apologize" she repeated with a smile tightening her hold on his hand

The pain was enough to force his buzz out of his head "Okay! OKAY! I'm sorry" He shouted looking between the red head and Aldrie as if he wasn't sure who he should be apologizing too. He crumpled to the floor in a heap clutching his ruined hand to his chest the crowd backing away from the cyborg clear fear in their eyes. She said nothing to Aldrie and merely hopped silently down from the table and lit herself another cigarette walking away planning on leaving Aldrie there, there was no reason for her to stay
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

Aldrie wasn't sure what to do when she walked away. They looked from the man, to the crowd, and to the woman. They noticed that some guards were walking closer to the crowd and looking straight at Aldrie. They looked once more at the drunk man and hopped down from the table, their own hands clutched to their chest. They tried to hide in the crowd, but no one would let them through, so they found themself walking behind the cyborg woman. They jogged a little to match pace with her.
"Why did you do that for me?" Aldrie asked her; she didn't seem to be the kind of person who would help a clueless tourist.
Marinelli Rosewind (played by -Khaleesi-) Topic Starter

"I didn't" she said simply with a shrug easily maneuvering the crowd as they parted to get away from her. She had noticed the guards but knew better then to take off running, there was no better way to look guilty, instead she played it cool. Maybe they wouldn't recognize her, maybe they had been stationed out here on this damn rock for so long they hadn't seen her wanted posters on a hundred different systems put up in a hundred different languages by a hundred different governments.

Without looking at the guards she pointed at them her cigarette balancing easily between two fingers. "was trying to avoid that idiot drawing their attention, obviously I waited too long" she said dryly with a heavy sigh smoke pouring past her lips as she did "So I guess you just happened to get lucky sweetheart" there was no warmth in the pet name as she said it, no affection in calling them sweetheart. it almost sounded ironic.
On what was little more than a nonchalant tour of the rather impoverished districts this settlement had to offer, did Advunturion stumble upon such a den of reprobates. Hushed whispers of rebellion from the lips of the disgruntled many gave fuel to the machine's desire for knowledge - Although now that he was here, such dangerous talk of intrigue seemed to devolve into mindless ravings of the alcohol-dependant madmen infesting this place. It had given him some insight into how little influence the law had around these parts, as he observed a drunkard being physically humiliated in front of his peers. However, a petty haven for criminals and vagrants held little attraction to Advunturion, as he loitered by the exit.

There had to be a catalyst for the clear unrest that brimmed. Surely, there was more to this mystery than what came out of the drooling lips these misplaced knuckledraggers ranted about. The machine could not leave until he found out the truth...

...Advunturion stomped forward toward the bar, towering above the drove of soft vagrants as he barged the Human sods out of his way. These clumsy sots were of little threat to him. Only the cybernetic woman who embarrassed that earlier drunk seemed to pose any danger, or at least bring it in some way. No doubt that trouble would only beget more trouble, though perhaps that would help uncover the scheme at hand. It would be the only reason for Advunturion's stay.

"I shall order a 'Jolty'z ale chip,' or any other depressant for synthetics that you may offer." The Naekhoric bluntly demanded; his vocal synthesizer emitting a gurgling parody of the Human voice.
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

(I love Advunturion's page! He's wonderfully made.)
"I guess so, but I've never been one with much luck. Thanks again." Aldrie moved to part from her, but then a huge robot came stomping by. The only way they could avoid being stepped on was by backing into the woman.
"Sorry!" They gasped out, their breath lost by the terror of almost being crushed.
Marinelli Rosewind (played by -Khaleesi-) Topic Starter

Marinelli rolled her eyes as she was bumped into and moved so she was leaning on the bar next to Advunturion "Don't thank me just because you got lucky" she said dryly looking over from the robot to the bartender waiting for her own turn to order, she wasn't completely rude.

The bartender, an amazonian type rosy skinned alien woman; struggled for a moment to understand through the garbled speech but nodded when they figured it out. She stood easily around seven feet with a thin willowy frame and moved with a dancers grace grabbing the robot his drink she placed it down in front of him and smiled turning her eyes to the cyborg woman.

"Firewhiskey?" She said quirking her brow curious If they had the incredibly strong drink that burned like chili peppers on the tongue.

The woman nodded and grabbed a short round glass and poured her a shot. When she moved to put the bottle down she paused as the red head held up her silvery arm and beckoned her fingers in a 'keep it coming' gesture and she nodded pouring her a double. "thanks luv" She said with a smirk giving the woman a wink as she pulled the glass to her lips and sipped it with the kind of ease someone who favored such a vicious drink could have.

The metal arm was truly something to behind, a Swiss army knife of different uses it moved smoothly as if it was her own flesh and blood. Far too sophisticated to be from earth which, judging by her appearance seemed to be her home town. She held the glass in her hand looking into the deep amber liquid thoughtfully letting some of her dark crimson hair flip over to cover her face the other side revealing the other side to be buzzed short.
(Thanks very much for the compliment. :))
In truth, Advunturion had no intention of consuming the shot, ignoring the fact that such a feat was impossible through his closed mouthgrate - The machine was merely justifying his stay by assimilating himself with the rest of these unwashed creatures. Now he could survey the actions of these so-called 'revolutionaries" without drawing unwanted attention; he paid the exotic barmaid her due, and curiously scanned the area as he patiently waited. In the midst of all the commotion behind, Advunturion caught a particularly assertive voice aimed toward him. He recognised the brash tone; twisting his torso toward the Cyborg, who seemed to be the only beacon of competence this place had to offer. Perhaps she knew something about this whole affair, or maybe she was just a traveller like the Machine.

There was another figure that also stuck out to Advunturion - a pilot from the looks, neither a brigand nor a privateer. The fellow seemed particularly out of place in this haven of interstellar scum, which made the Machine all the more curious.

"Are the both of you travellers, also..?" Advunturion asked, immediately breaking the ice.
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

Aldrie blinked once and turned away from the woman, unsure of how to respond. They decided they might as well get a drink while they were close to the bar and asked the barmaid for a comet puncher. They handed her the amount owed and took a sip, then turned when they heard a robotic voice directed at them.
"Yeah, I'm only here to have my ship repaired. What brought you here?" In truth, Aldrie was also here to write about the planet and the galaxy it was in. It was necessary to write about each thing they discovered so they could pay for the bare essentials. It wasn't really an ideal job, but they were still happy with it, seeing as they got to see as much of the universe as they wanted.
Marinelli Rosewind (played by -Khaleesi-) Topic Starter

"Sure, lets call me a travaller" she replied dryly taking a sip of the liquid that burned from both the spice and intensity of the liquor. It wasnt called firewhiskey for nothing.

Few things in this universe caught her eye, she had grown apathetic over the years and once people saw past the sarcastic charm people often described her as being unnerveingly empty...she could easily, in her more quiet moments be mistaken for a very realisitc looking android with not much of a soul seen in the window of her pale blue eye.

Balacing the cigarette easily between the two fingers that were holding the glass she brought it up to her lips taking a long slow draw and holding the smoke in her lungs for a while before slowly blowing it out through her nose.

She listened to Aldrie in silence. To most it looked as if she were ignoring them but Marinelli was much more perceptive then people often gave her credit for
"I am here to study this place of my own accord." Advunturion replied, his elongated head speedily clicking toward different corners of the bar room, surveying the dank pub and it's patrons. He checked the area for any other unique lifeforms that stood out in particular; nothing else was able to pique his interest.

"...What do the both of you know of this supposed revolution?" The Machine asked. Once more, he was being absurdly straight to the point. Such impulse was merely a byproduct of Advunturion's mentality - He understood nothing of context and patience, and his indiscreet nature often brought with it hostility from those opposite to him. It was necessary, however, as he felt his curiosity slowly ebb away. The desire to leave this hive of wretches and look for evidence of unrest elsewhere was becoming paplable, though perhaps he was merely standing on the glass floor of a much deeper underworld. It did not bother him to ask; information was his sustinance, a chance of discovery would be something even more lavish.
Aldrie (played by zenfey)

"I haven't been here long enough to know." Aldrie said. They looked around the bar; all of the people were either drunk off their asses or on their way to it. The aggression of the earlier crowd and the amount of imperial guards stationed here claimed a state of higher unrest. They had also noticed that most of the items for sale had been twice or triple the amount they might have been in a different galaxy. Thinking about the engine repair that they needed, they knew that it'd be very difficult for them to get off of this planet without doing some dirty work. They weren't a stranger to it; it had been how they'd gotten off of their home colony and had been able to afford their rundown ship.
"I don't think I'll be able to get outta here without making some money," Aldrie mused. "Say, would either of you be able to offer me any odd jobs? I'm a very good pilot and I can make my own repairs." They said to the two.
Marinelli Rosewind (played by -Khaleesi-) Topic Starter

"The drunken suicidal ramblings of others aren't any of my business" she said with a shrug downing the last of her whiskey and sliding it across to the bartender for another which she graciously poured and handed back to her. Though the rosy skinned alien looked thoughtful. The redheaded cyborg struck her as the type of woman who could drink this whole bar dry, and firewhiskey wasn't cheap stuff. She hoped the woman would be able to afford it unlike most of the other people in this bar who often tried to drunkenly sneak off without paying.

"But its obvious isn't it? This many imperial guards in a shthole like this? They're far from HR which means they're free to do as they please, be as brutal as they please, treat the people here however they want. I'm sure its the same story on every planet the government in this star system has under their thumb. Put enough booze into anyone and they'll think they can do something about it" she said with a roll of her eyes looking over to the bartender as she handed her her newly filled glass.

"Cheers luv" She said with a charming smile grabbing the drink and looking over to Aldrie arching a brow "What else you good at?" she asked them arching a brow. If they proved themselves useful to her she could offer then a spot and make the whole doing something illegal thing very worth their while
