Barrus nodded. He waited for every one to be out of the way, before he threw the grenade. It stuck into the ground, before it blew, igniting the fuel from the Phantom. The Hunter rose to its feet before it began to follow Da'Tresee, pausing once it saw Barrus. It stared at the Brute for a moment before a low groan escaped it as it continued.
Barrus took notice of the Hunter staring at him. He didn't pay much mind to it before he went to his Prowler. His grunts and Jackals joined him on it as he made his way around. He found a path that led up to the cliff, before rejoining with the others. Barrus made sure to go slowly, to keep pace with the others. The Hunter followed Barrus's path, soon rejoining as well.

The path was a fairly long ravine about three thousand meters. It was four meters wide for the most part and the janky ground would be no match for the Prowlers mobility. Above the Rangers moved ahead. Each one keeping an eye out on the surrounding area and examined the region. They scanned the treeline and used their rifles to zoom in on the surrounding cliffs. They always had a full three sixty degree view of the area not wanting to be ambushed. The smoke from the burning Phantom could be seen for a while. But the ravine would conceal them for now.
Barrus glanced up to the sky, seeing another part of the forest above. Despite the lack of a horizon, or actual sun movement, it was beginning to get dark. "We should find shelter soon. No idea what kind of predators are out in these jungles." Barrus said.
His coms lit up as a single message came through from Da'Tresee.
"We shall find shelter when we reach the end of this ravine. I would sooner deal with a wild animal then allow those Brutes the chance to strike us with their fleet." She says as the faint hum of jump packs is heard above.

Barrus nodded. "Very well." He said, as they continued down the path. By the time they'd gotten out of the Ravine, it was night.
The bottom of the ravine went out into jungle. Deep green trees filled the area and assuming there was animal life it would be hidden within. The Prowler would be able to make it through but the foliage wouldn't make it easy. Da'Tresee looked over the area. To go into the jungle or search along the mountain side for caves. Those were their options. The Rangers were above them on the cliff side looking down and over the area.
"Do you see anything that could work for shelter?" Barrus asked over the comms. Before Da'tressee could respond, one of her Elites came over to her. "Commander. It would appear we weren't the only one's to crash here." The Elite said, pointing out into the horizon. From the cliffs they could see the crash site of the Azure Hammer. It was a good distance away, and was in surprisingly good shape despite its crash.
She raises her carbine and zooms in as much as possible. With night approaching it was hard to see but she made it out.
"A ship that size would likely be full of Brutes by now." He looks down to Barrus. "You take the ship master and find somewhere to establish camp. Zohk shall go with you and keep in contact with us. Me and my Elites will scout out the ship for survivors and supplies." As she says this the Skirmisher nods. Letting off its chirp of approval it heads with the Brute and others. Da'Tresee and her Elites prepare to head off to investigate the ship.

"Understood. Stay on guard, and watch your backs." Barrus said, before he and those who were going with him headed off. "I believe it was the Humans' flagship. Think the Brutes wiped them out?" Asked one of the Elites.
The Elite shrugged.
"I wouldn't know. The Humans are resilient however. It wouldn't surprise me if they survived." The Elite says as he and the other Rangers made their way through the jungle approaching the ship as silent as can be without stealth tech.

They continued through the forest, moving silently. Soon, the Rangers arrived at the crashed ship.
On the other side, the UNSC had quickly gotten to work, establishing a base.

Causalities were surprisingly low inside The Azure Hammer. Having been dragged into the large planetary construct when it opened they were dropped in some form of jungle. The ship was shaken about rather brutally on entry and impacting a mountain damaged the outer hull somewhat but no piercings were made. It was a miracle the reactors didn't detonate and as such it was shut down to prevent an overload. The death toll was around twelve percent and surviving UNSC troops from the ship were gathering in the still intact command deck. Some where also gathering near hangers and armories. It was difficult to establish communications over the ship with many systems sent into reboot and some wider range ones shut off with the reactor being disabled. Their drastic impact likely would attract the Covenant but the first few hours they went un-assaulted. Banshee scouts went over but were yet to return with any large or dangerous force.
"So what's the recon team you requested for?" Gregor asked. "Where we're at right now, we're sitting ducks. Once communications are back up, I intend to take every resource we can move and establish a base away from the Hammer." Admiral Kenner said. "The covenant, should they return with a larger force, will only find a damaged, empty ship." Kener explained.
