Hey guys. I myself am not goth and my tiny amount of experience with it is limited to YouTube videos/Youtubers who are goth.
I was wondering if there's anyone here who is and who can go in depth into some of the things that make goth, well, goth. Besides the wearing black thing, of course. I'm sure everyone knows that there's so much more to the subculture than just a black outfit.
Have a good week everyone!

I know a pair of youtubers that explain the concept rather well. That is if your interested.
If you want I can tell you some of the multiple branches of the culture as well.

Please do!
Well to be honest, depending on your source. Some of these goth types exist and others don't, but it's more of an argument on what is and what isn't considered goth.
The ones I recognize regularly are, Romantic goth, pastel goth, Victorian goth, and vampiric goth,
Now depending on who you ask, vampiric goth, and pastel goth are not considered 'truly' goth by some, but are commonly accepted by others.
It's also important not to confuse vampiric goth, Victorian goth, and Romantic goth. This is because in my experience they look rather similar and sometimes take insult to being called the wrong kind.

How would you say they are separated? Do these three have a big defining feature
Well Victorian, and Romantic goths are defined by their respective era's in European history.
From what I understand, the Romantic and Victorian Eras overlap significantly. "Romantic" described literature and music while "Victorian" described society and fashion.
Yeah, from what I understand. The differences are subtle.
Hello!
Okay, so here's the big question that I've personally always wondered.
What is goth?
Like, is it more than just a fashion style? I've seen plenty that have the styles, but I don't quite understand what makes one truly 'goth'.
The most experience I've had with it is that 'phase' me and half my friends went through in teenagedom where we thought we were all cool dark and goth. #embarrassingteenstories

It's more or less one of many sub cultures created for a sense of individuality. Usually associated with signs of macabre.
