Hi all! I'm very rusty, and I was hoping to get back into RP using this site.
I really prefer RPs with plot/action, where there's a lot of twists and turns influenced by everyone involved (though I imagine most people prefer that?), and I tend to prefer fantasy/historical-type RPs as well. I try to have more grounded paragraphs with lots of little details (smells, textures, etc.), and tend to like writing in third person best. (I'm not sure if I should be putting this here?)
As far as hobbies of mine, generally I do art, and try to write (I also have a fairly strong interest in Arthurian myths).
I have a fair amount questions, though, which are:
So, yeah. c:

I have a fair amount questions, though, which are:
- Mainly, are there any unspoken Dos & Don'ts on this site? (I have read through the rules & FAQ, but I thought I'd double check since I'm very slow to pick up social ques)
- Is this the sort of site where it's preferred to have one topic per RP-verse, or is it okay to make/participate in multiple topics that exist within the same 'canon' for a character? (As in, if I have a character called Greg and he becomes part of a Pirates & Mermaids RP topic, would he have to stay in that topic or could he bounce through different RPs?)
- Could I have multiple characters with the same name (either on different character pages or the same page)?
- Do people tend to make characters for a specific RP, or make a character and then find/make an RP that suites them?
- If I had like a 'Rules/Guidelines for RPing with me' thing, where would it make the most sense to put it on a character profile?
- Would anyone have any tips on how to avoid the 'character doesn't have anything to do in this roleplay' problem?
It's usually a problem of character motivations/drive but, I thought I'd ask anyway?
So, yeah. c:
Hello and welcome from a fellow newbie!
You really seem like an interesting and fun person to roleplay with
I'll definitely check out your characters and, as for your questions I guess there are people who can answer those - I myself can't because I'm also new to this site, but now as I think about it, I think I'm interested in the answers as well, so I'll be watching this topic
I hope you have lots of fun here and some nice roleplays to start with.

Thank you!! I had a look at your character pages, what's there looks pretty good! You seem like you really know what you're doing, so I'll probably be keeping an eye on your characters too (they look like they'll shape up to be really cool and interesting).
I hope you have lots of fun here too!! And have roleplays you enjoy a lot too C:
Howdy! Welcome to RPR, fellow lover of Arthurian Myths!
Your introduction's pretty good, and it's always useful to put this sort of information in one's post so as to give others more insight into who you are as a roleplayer, so you shouldn't worry about it!

- There aren't many unspoken dos and don'ts that I'm aware of - all of the big no-nos (such as way over the top and unecessary swearing in a public thread, NSFW content without any warning, and so forth) are written in the FAQ and rules. (Edit: actually, the whole writing characters with mental conditions without doing any research is something that may hurt some people so I'd definitely advise some care in that regard.)
- Honestly, it's totally up to you. You've got complete control over your characters, so you can do whatever you want with them. It's not unusual for people use the same characters in completely different roleplays at the same time, for example. Some people do add roleplays to their character "canon", however, and that's also pretty neat!
- You could! Same thing as above, really.
- The latter, which is something that I've noticed that is a bit different from other roleplay sites in which the reverse happens. RPR has a tendency to have people create and design their own individual characters and then adapt them for a roleplay/setting, leading to a bigger focus on character development than development of settings. That said, I've also seen people create characters for specific roleplays, especially in big worldbuilding-focused group roleplays!
- I'd suggest the bottom of the first page, which would inform people right away about your preferences and rules when roleplaying. I've also seen people put them at the end of character profiles, though!
- Ooh, this problem! Honestly, I'm not the best person to give advice about this, but I suppose it all comes to motivation, yeah. Try to give your characters a drive and a purpose, and to be careful when placing them in situations which they would not normally be interested in.

By the way, a neat place to pop by from time to time is the Official Chat (you can click the little "launch chat" button at the top of the page to have the thread appear in real time chat form) - it's great for getting to know some of RPR's members.
Welcome to RPR.
I'm Asroc. I RP canons, but I am friendly to OC Rpers. Hope we can be friends.

Hello! Welcome to RPR! It's seems as though you've found your way around for the most part. I wanted to wish you a warm welcome and I hope to RP with you in the near future once I make my characters public. You seem like an interesting person and I wouldn't mind becoming friends with you if you don't mind.

hello hello! as far as your questions go. | 1: I don't think there aren't really many spoken do's and don'ts here as long as your not causing havoc on others. 2: your definitally allowed to have your character jump from wherever you want 3: you can go ahead and make another character with the same name if you want! 4: people usually do a mix of both depending on what their feeling, but its mainly characters that they had already made. | your character seems really cool and id love to rp with you if you ever take fancy to one of my characters! I couldn't really answer ALL your questions, but I hope you find your answers soon enough!

And thank you for answering my questions!! @Loren was kind enough to answer them more or less (and you as well!), so I should be alright now c: (although I'd never pass up hearing tips on making characters et cetera, if anyone's wondering!)
Welcome, Welcome! To the great site that is RPR
