In the mountainous north, there lies a large village being plagued by undead, and an unknown creature who breaks into archives and libraries, and steals books, scrolls, and arcane knowledge. The village is known as Thornwood, a village known for being adept in magical studies, runesmithing, and alchemy. It has been plagued by these fiends for some time now, and now it's Elder is calling the best trackers, warriors, mages, archers, and other mercenaries to track down it's source, via bounty posters sent off with merchants.
The village cannot risk sending out their adepts and masters to track down what is causing this siege, for fear they might perish a long with their arcane knowledge and power. They are offering a high sum of gold for a band of travelers to deal with them, while they defend their walls against the nightly horde, ever scratching and prodding at the gates to their village.
