Seeing as my last roleplay partners are now unavailable, I've decided to broaden my horizons and give RP Repository a try, thanks to a friendly person's advice on DeviantArt. I have no idea what I'm doing but dang if I'm not determined to get the hang of it! Any pointers, tips, directions, or just introductions and conversations are very welcome!
I'm not picky with the types of rps I do. I've been roleplaying consistently for three years now, and a bit here and there for a few years before then. I'm good with character building, romance, story building, adventure, but mostly with the same few people I've been rping with for years now. I'd love to try my hand at other genres for anyone patient enough to deal with me. Seriously, I want to try everything.
Even if you just want to discuss character and world ideas, I'd be chill with that too. Feel free to ask me something or just hang out.

Hello, and welcome to RPR! I don't have much experience with rping on forums, and I have mostly rped through private messages but I have some rps going in group forums as well. I have mostly used the Looking for RP forum to try and find rp partners, and I've found several. Hope you do, too!

Aaaah, thank you, all of you! I have no idea if pinging is a thing on this particular forum (I swear they all function differently. Everytime.), so I'll just type out things like a normal person?? IDK???
Again, thank you for the warm welcome, I wasn't expecting such a kind receiving. I come from deviantart, and most of what I know about forums is actually uh.. well, FlightRising X'D That's the only forum I've ever actually gotten used to so I'm not totally clueless. Don't know how to roleplay on one however, not with more than one person at a time anyway.
Most of my roleplays have been with the same 3 or 4 people if I'm being horribly honest here. So while I have a good bit of experience it's... hard to tell ya know? I've only done OC roleplays now that I think of it, and I do enjoy meeting other ocs, I'm just kinda awkward about going up to people about it ahaaa
And thank you Guingamor and Yersinia! I may take you up on the offer to bounce some ideas off you if you don't mind, and feel free to do the same with me by all means! I'll take a look on the roleplay finder thing here on the site and see what comes up. If I have any questions, I'll ask.

If you want to take a look for the open RPs I will put links below. I found the Find RP search facility with the sliding bars isn't always very good and brings up limited results so I put links below:
- General: General / assorted topics
- Fantasy : Fantasy RP threads...
- Sci Fi: Sci-FI RP threads...
Some of these open RP story lines have matching OOC threads where players discuss characters and plots twists and turns outside the actual story, these OOC links can be found in RP Discussion Forum
The biggest difference you may notice between "chat" based RPs and Forum based RPs is probably the the time delay.
When you RP with 1-2 people known to you (within the same time zone) replies to your posts tend to be almost immediate whereas in forums it can take hours (in some cases days) delays between replies.
On the other hand, since there's a much wider pool of players each gives the stories a different twist, with surprising turn of events that's definitely worth the wait and interaction. You can also RP 1-1 via mail messages which makes for a quicker paced action.

I've actually only ever RPed on two other forums (and both had pretty strict 'paragraphs and good grammar only, match your RP partner(s)'s length' rules), but in my experience there's usually a sort of post-order to things? I'm not sure if that actually differs from other RPs, but its usually established by the first post you make in the thread (person A posts, person B posts, person C posts, etc. If person D joins in between B & C that's where they go). But here it probably depends on the people you're RPing with and what their preferences are, I think?
