Now I have noticed a trend when it comes to role plays for me. You see rps I generally put a lot of plot and background into seem to be rather ignored. While in comparison, those I make up
On a whim and are rather short seem to gain maybe one or two replies.
Now I'll be honest I do have a very low patience threshold, and often begin to wonder if I'm the only person on this fine site with no social life.
I've been told that the reason for the ghost town that is my more well crafted role plays. Is due to the fact that longer post with more plot put in them seem overbearing and stressful. I do understand that, as I have had similar experiences myself.
My question to you lovely family members is, do you often experience something like this yourselves?

I see you're 16. I might be generalizing a little when I say this, but I think your style of roleplaying might appeal more to older roleplayers? Your problem is probably that you're more mature than the roleplayers your age, and I make this conclusion because I personally have no trouble at all finding people to roleplay with, and I'm a multi paragraph roleplayer in my younger twenties.
Well I generally have longer posts when I'm able to give my full attention to a role play, and often when I feel a story is grand enough to deserve a decent reply.
Though my only drawback is that I often have a hard time posting what I want to because I have a hard time paying attention to one thing at a time. This causes me to often become very sidetracked.

The reason I get a lot of replies on my Looking for Rp posts is because I think it through very thoroughly and I put something mischevious or something that has a hint of mystery or a cliffhanger making people wander what'll happen. So I also do this thing with my titles of roleplays that attract attention.
CINDERS WITH COOKIES & RAIDER WITH RAINBOW
That was a demonstration.
Plus, some people get overwhelmed by such a big post they just run from it and if they see the title they don't even want to look at it.
MEEP.
I've NEVER done that.
If I don't get any replies on my posts, it's because the people have either no interest or they have PMed me because I prefer PM roleplays because I feel uncomfortable with other people reading my roleplay. It feels like people are stalking me.
I don't know how I get so many roleplays and I'm only 13

I would have to concur with the concept that your targeted age group might be a major cause for less replies. That is to say if you're targeting younger age groups. Chances are most new writers are going to have a hard time latching on to complex plots and hanging on, and that leads into the concept that a lot of text on a prompt is discouraging, which I also concur with.
And likewise, I feel your pain. I think the most replies I've gotten numbered up to... 4 on one prompt?
So know you're not alone.

Yes, I've experienced things like that. Not so much being ignored per say, but rather people just not posting. Just recently, I made an RP proposal called "Fiend of Scholars", a fantasy RP as usual. I got my max interest and replies , and made the thread in the Fantasy RP forum, and linked it back into the proposal, and also made an OOC chat in pms.
Three days later, and not a single reply or meep in the OOC chat. It irks me that this happens, as it seems like that the players just abandoned it without telling me. And, I don't exactly know why it happens. The post I put down is able to be replied to with ease (at least for me.), as it is frankly obvious where the players are supposed to go.

Well I'm convinced I'm cursed.
