Does anyone else start doing something, go really ham/strong (i.e. for long periods of time of doing what they start) and then take a wee break for reasons and then have the hardest time in heck getting back to what they were doing? I'm experiencing that right now.

On May 18, 2017, I started writing the first of what I hope to be a trilogy about three siblings, two sisters and their younger brother. The brother (the main character in the first book and gay) has no magical abilities at all, while his sisters and mother all do. The book follows the brother developing a crush on a classmate at his college, and not knowing how to pursue this love interest. His eldest sister is a porn star/stripper -who is a shape shifter-, her advice is to corner said love interest in the bathroom and preform a sexual act on him. The second sister -who is a witch- provides two potions and love potion and a courage potion; advising the brother to use the courage potion rather than the love potion because it will not provide him with what he truly desires.

I have writing 32 whole pages, and am a quarter of the way finished my 33rd page, the beginning of my sixth chapter and I have lost all drive to continue. For me, this is nothing new. Though, I would really like to finish this book to be able to say that I have finally finished something that I've started. This is the farthest I have ever gotten to completing a book. A friend of mine has given me many words of encouragement to continue, even telling me that what I'm going through is normal and it will pass.

If anyone has/is dealing with this, please know that you are not alone!

Going through a similar situation right now. I started a novel, got around 20,000 words in... Aaaaand then I stopped freelancing and got a full time job as a writer. Now that I write for 10 hours a day at work, it's reaaaaaally hard to want to work on a personal writing project at home.

The thing I always found about writing, is it's kind of like housework. The hardest part is showing up. Once you've started the dishes, you may as well finish them. Same thing. Force yourself to sit down at your computer, turn off distractions, and write something. Anything. Doesn't have to be for your book. Just a journal about your day or a poem. Get back into the habit.

Yeah, I've experienced this before. I was writing a story on a site that you can make them if you want or you can take quizzes by other people (Quotev 10/10 would recommend again IGN). So I write a story, get a chapter or two in, hit a writers block for awhile, come back to it with an idea, but then I can't get the idea into words. Like ben said, get rid of all distractions, and just write something. Anything would do, but really, just write about something you enjoy, and then also like he said "Get back into the habit."

So yeah, just try and get through a bit of menial things like poetry. Maybe read a book for inspiration and then get back to it. I'm not experienced in the writing field, but it's a thing I do anyway. The reason I write is because it calms me down and it's fun. All-in-All, if you want some help, just take a small break and maybe eat some wafers.
