Ryiah Sendara Bet'Lu (played by BreezyDawn) Topic Starter

The journey was a blissful one despite the danger Ryiah knew they no doubt sailed into. As she stood at the prow of the Nonesuch, after several weeks journey, Ryiah could see the arid land approaching. She wondered if Harrashim had gotten himself into trouble since they'd been here last, or if the bedouin leader was keeping honest. She hoped they would still be on friendly terms.

After another day, the Nonesuch docked, and Ryiah looked for Calico to see what he had planned. After all, he had kidnapped her on her wedding day and whisked her here, she hoped he had a plan. The air was much dryer here, and hot, yet her draconic blood helped her to feel quite easy in warm temperatures. Still, she wore the bedouin garb that Calico had given her as a gift, the cloth was light and cool. She also did as the bedouins often did and wrapped a cloth around her head to keep the sand and dust out.
Morgan nodded at the ambitious king's comments.

"Such magnificent horse seems to be of a very pure breed that grows in the southern regions. I have personally visited their encampment" mused Morgan

"Did the bedouines present it as a gift? was it a direct acquisition by purchase? or was it passed on from other neighbouring kingdoms, as a tribute?" quizzed Morgan trying to figure out the political influence of this coarse mountanous dominion.

Calico descended from the ship with a wide smile

"You look as beautiful as when I set eyes on you on at Harrishim's tent" complimented Calico

"If you are wondering if we have a solid plan of action, the answer is no... I only know these bedouines are likely to sell horses to our rivals and, if such claim is true, they may be able to smuggle us there among the other wenches from Harrishim's harems who undoubtedly entertain the royals there.

I am not sure how the new young king is in that aspect... but his father was quite the lady's man, and other tastes too..." muttered Calico walking out to the docks and making his way to the tavern.

He did not expect trouble for now but being pirates with a certain known flag and more renouned reputation, caution was certainly not amiss even here in these times of apparent peace.

Meanwhile, Harrishim had been alerted of the Nonesuch approaching his lands, and had sent men to greet them upon their arrival, he had remained behind, however, expecting word from Nidar, one of the men he had deployed to keep the new trade routes clear. It was a booming business nowadays, the horse trade. His horses were sought after by more and more men, his equines having a lineage far superior to those of any other, as most of them now decended from Pegasus himself, the great winged horse whom Taff had gifted Harrishim, and whom the bedouin leader had taken exceedingly great care with.

Even now the man stood beside his most precious investment, the pure white winged stallion, stroking his nose and checking him over to be assured of his good health. The Falgaron empire had approached him with a deal not a year past, to trade for his horses in return for added protection, and free travel through their Ruler's lands, as well as lower costs in goods, which Harrishim would have had to pay a fortune for most other places, and which would take months to arrive by ship.

Instead, their trade was done by land, a mere few weeks travel to cross the border over the mountains. Harrishim had only been there once himself, and thought it an odd place, filled with odd contraptions. He preferred simplicity himself, yet he was a businessman, and took good deals when he saw them.
Blaise laughed, "You are quite the inquisitive man, Morgan. The horse is indeed a bedouin breed, there's no denying that; their horses are quite renowned." Blaise looked into Morgan's eyes with a serious expression, "What intrigues you so about my associate's horse? Surely you have the charisma to strike up a conversation about more relevant topics, otherwise, you wouldn't have been chosen as the diplomat to meet me here. Your multitude of questions about it points to a great deal of fascination - a hidden motive perhaps?"

His eyes sharpened and he leaned closer, "Tell me, Morgan, what is it that you desire?"
Nidar (played by DarkElf06)

Nidar leant against a rock close to the coastline. He had just sent a messenger bird detailing the recent robbery he had to take care of to his leader, Harrishim. The brigands were now imprisoned and the one whom Nidar injured was on his deathbed from what he had heard. Of course, Nidar felt no guilt over ridding the desert of a criminal - it was in the job description after all.

As Nidar rested, he spotted a ship on the horizon; and a familiar one at that. He sighed at the recognisable vessel as he spotted the Nonesuch on the horizon. He remembered the pirate Calico Jack and the dragon empress Ryiah. His leader's infatuation with her was nonsensical to him; he remembered how he looked at her the first time they met - and the eye roll he himself gave once he realised. A bedouin harbouring feelings for the dragon empress herself was a fool's errand and it had taken Harrishim's interests too much for Nidar's liking as it was distracting him from his duties. Fortunately, the bedouin's enemies hadn't noticed, but it was a matter of time.

Clenching his fists, Nidar decided to rendezvous with the men designated to greet the Nonesuch and meet with the empress himself. He quickly leapt onto his stallion and rode off in the direction of the nearest port.
Zandyr Dencias (played by BreezyDawn) Topic Starter

Zandyr listened carefully to the conversation going on within the carriage, but he said offered no words when the topic centered around his horse. He knew the stallion was surperior for his species, and he prided himself on the way the horse carried himself, neck proudly arched and lifting each foot with purpose.

Yet he also knew his place, and that for now meant remaining silent. He kept his gaze forward, his own part in the task complete for the time being, now merely aiding in the escort of his Most Esteemed Ruler. His own head was held high, and as he rode he thought of the conquest Blaise was bound to make, of the lands he would conquer and the power he would rise to, and Zandyr would be at his side, loyal to the last. Fervor and passion for his position burned within Zandyr. It had driven him to excellence in both swordplay and in the ways of the court. He was not a pawn to overlook.
Morgan raised an eye brow at Blaise

"Your majesty fails to understand the matter of fact here... your servant holds a horse raised by bedouines. Bedouines are nomads who live in arid islands deep in the heart of the ocean. The only manner by which such a horse could ever reach here is by sea and your kingdom is but a coarse mountain with little else to offer besides the ore mines and the quarry. You lack a port, and are quite a distance from ours. If that horse got there either you trespassed into our realm, to obtain said steed, in which it already is an act of war.

Or, the bedouines, friendly traders of our empire, crossed our lands and delivered the beast to these coarse, blocked off mountains... which of the two is it then?" questioned Morgan

"If you are indeed an enemy to our empire, what I desire is to run you through with my sword and put an end to your reign and dominion, at which point, these coarse mountains will added to the empire of Tellirin" mused Morgan leaving diplomatics aside and opting to speak bluntly instead

"As for what I truly seek, is for you to withdraw your unreasonable threats and strike a peaceful accord instead. The war you seek will bring losses to both kingdoms... evitable losses of life and resources" muttered Morgan matter of fact

"Your kingdom has never had a port and clearly, you do not require one either... leave our borders be" warned Morgan

Calico wasted no time flat at all to bring in Riyah and the rest of the crew to the tavern, like any lowly commoner after a long and weary journey.

Taff, on the other, remained cautious and weary, cowering on a corner by the hearth
Blaise kept a straight face and answered Morgan's bold statement, "Take a look outside Morgan. I have created a technological utopia this world has never before seen with advancements that will surely crush any pitiful foot soldiers on the field of battle. If I were to declare war on your empire it would not be over crossing your borders for horse trade. Speaking of those advancements, I believe that you yourself are not in a favourable place to bargain against my terms of peace. You yourself said that the loss of life and resources will be great and you've no doubt heard of Falgaron's military prowess - we are no strangers to the art of war. Those lost lives will be the ones flying Tellirin's banner; the resources will be the lost and forgotten armour and weapons your fallen troops donned before marching to their grave."

From a compartment in the carriage, Blaise pulled out a hefty looking rifle adorned with gauges and tanks filled with a glowing red liquid. "My resources... will not be an issue with these."
"All metal melts under dragon's fire breath, sire. It was melted to shape these in the first place and, luckily, our land hosts more than just humans as you surely know.

Now, pray tell me, if you have no interest in the horse trade or the ports, and are faring rather well already with your own resources, why then embark on such absurd quest as is an open war? what do you seek to gain from all this?" frowned Morgan examining the riffle with interest but noticing the materials it was made out of, which permitted the fiery remark.
He smirked at the question, "Now, now Morgan. I can't be telling you my plans this soon; it won't do well for my strategies." Blaise looked at the rifle in his hands as he spoke, "As for your dragons, they won't be an issue with this rifle. And before you ask, I'm saving its function until a more practical demonstration."

Blaise was satisfied with his responses so far but he had a sneaking suspicion that Morgan wouldn't give up so easily. So Blaise sat and waited for Morgan's retort.
"Please understand sire, my task is negotiate peace if at all possible... by as many means as necessary.... it's what ambassadors do.

Now, if I know not what your ambitions are, what you seek out of our lands and realm, I can hardly make an adequate offer that could persuade you to desist in the intention to go to war" explained Morgan doing his best to remain patient and focused on the task to hand.
"Believe me when I say that war is not a part of my plan," Blaise began "but I shall declare it if necessary."

Blaise put the rifle back into its compartment as it didn't exactly fit the diplomatic mood and continued, "As for my reasoning, I suppose I can enlighten you on the basics. The land that I desire from you and it's port contain a resource that is crucial for the progression of my kingdom. You might have heard of them before - soul shards. Fragments of the souls of long dead creatures in Tellirin. I'm fortunate that I seem to have discovered their existence first, otherwise you'd be getting more than just my threats."

Blaise leant in closer "Give me that land and its shards, and there shall be no quarrel between Tellirin and Falgaron. Am I clear?"

The men Harrishim sent wasted no time in finding the group Calico had issued to land, aa the Tavern was one of the only buildings nearest the port. Obviously it was general knowledge where sailors and pirates liked to spend their time.

Nidar had indeed been able to rendezvous with the group, though there may have been a slightly uneasy tension betweem him and the rest of the guards. They knew he was a bit more important to Harrishim than they, higher in power as well, and they wondered if he had come to take charge, yet when the leader among them ascertained he was there to observe, he moved forward and addressed Princess Ryiah and his Lordship Calico Jacksworth. "Your highnesses, it is such a pleasure to have your company once more upon our fine island. My leader looks forward to hosting you once more. Please, allow us to escort you to our current encampment. If you wish to go now, we are ready, but please, we are at your leisure."

Ryiah glanced up from the drink she'd been enjoying, her body pressed close to Calico's, almost sitting in his lap. When with the Pirates, she was able to allowed her sense of courtly decorum to fade a small bit, and enjoy herself. Still, when approached by Harrishim's man, she stood and her posture resumed its natural regalness, her chin lifting as she gave him a nod. "I thank you..." she looked at Calico then, sighing.

"It wasn't my intention to visit your island again so soon, but it seems my husband wishes to deal with Harrishim once more. Please, take us there now."

She understood the reasoning behind Calico sailing here, yet, it had seemed an impetuous way to do so and she felt underprepared. Still, it had been a kidnapping, what was she to expect? Feeling both amused and a bit frustrated, se raised an eyebrow at Calico, hoping be was ready.

When the group departed, they would be offered extra horses, brought for such a purpose, and the Harrishim's man would waste no time in leading them the day's journey to the large and sprawling camp, where Harrishim currently resided. Horse fences had been erected and they could be seen on the outskirts of camp.
Nidar (played by DarkElf06)

Nidar had noticed his peers' latent animosity. Due to his high ranking position, it was inevitable, though they never acted upon their desires; they knew who and what he was. Any discontent could be washed away with a low growl from Nidar's lips.

When the group reached the camp, Nidar tied up his stallion and headed straight for Harrishim's tent. As he entered, he did a polite bow to his leader and spoke, "My lord, the dragon empress and her husband have arrived." Nidar had hoped that mentioning Ryiah's marriage might deter any attempts on Harrishim's part from adding to his harem; though it was entirely possible that his efforts would have the opposite effect. Nidar could only sit and let events unfold.
"Are you telling me that you are prepared to slain innocent commoners and execute warriors over a pile of old corpses?" gasped Morgan in disgust composing himself afterwards

"How about if we were to offer your kingdom a seasonal tribute of these shards and you do not invade our kingdom nor trespass the borders? If the shards is what you seek, we can make agreements and arrangements for you to get what you desire without altering our peace" quizzed Morgan

Calico, who had an arm wrapped around Riyah protectively, released the beauty and got onto the horse, ever so glad to ride the steed yet again.

"I will race you to Harrishim's tent... empress..." challenged Calico always happy to partake in daring adventures, challenges and quests out of the blue.

By the time he got to the encampment, ever so familiar at that, he got off the horse, reluctantly releasing the reins and made his way to the leader, escorting Riyah
Blaise's eye twitched at the use of the term "old corpses" to describe soul shards; rare commodities that cannot be found anywhere else. Nevertheless, he composed himself, it wouldn't do to kill the man - not when a war was still debatable.

"Soul shards are not something we can afford to ration as if they were loaves of bread. They contain limited amounts of power..." Blaise paused a moment, thinking about an improbable but fair compromise that Morgan might agree to. Blaise smiled and continued, "All except a rare few. Those specific shards are remnants of the souls of dragons themselves, some of the most powerful creatures in all creation. If I were to obtain one from your lands, the rest of them would be obsolete for at least another century and by then I'll be long gone. I hadn't considered it because of their rarity and high mortality rate in expeditions, but I think your people might succeed given your recent stroke of luck. Get me one and I shall leave Tellirin alone for the rest of my days." Blaise reached out a hand, "Do we have a deal?"
"Seems to me a very fair deal indeed. I shall personally relay your most generous offer to the empress. I have no doubt all avenues that can avert the war must be considered thoroughly in a positive light.

We could have slaves, prisoners and paid workers gathering these old corpses, these soul shards for you, and deliver them in cart loads at a time, as a tribute, whilst we seek and retrieve the dragon corpses you require" mused Morgan seeing no big issue in such a deal

"Are these... dragon corpses within Tellirin boundaries? or do we have to travel the world to find dragon soul shards?" quizzed Morgan curiously blinking at the rather unexpected and unusual proposal.
"Most are in Tellirin, though I did hear of a species of dragon that used to live in the deserts a few centuries ago, however, I hear they're extinct and buried under miles of sand so you may have better luck at home than away."

Suffice it to say, Blaise was pleased so far about this arrangement; if he was lucky, the Tellirins would find his dragon soul shard and his empire could move forward for years to come. Though he didn't actually expect results for a long while, after all, if the shards were easy to come across, he would have just sent a covert group to uncover one and smuggle it back to Falgaron.

Looking more friendly than before, Blaise provided Morgan with some information, "Dragon soul shards should be much larger than regular ones and have a distinct red hue to them. If your workers find one, then your kingdom shall be spared my army's attention."
"Well I am confident we will find your treasure and seal a peaceful deal. As you know, Tellirin is ruled by an empress who carries dragon essence within, she may be able to use that to locate the shards you seek

More importantly, our kingdom has Taff. He is the last dragonlord and a warlock whose druidian powers are unrivalled. I have never seen a mage of his callibre before. He will find you the shard or summon it, if he doesn't have it already on himself... that sorcerer can transform elements as easy as we breathe words" explained Morgan calmly confident in the success of his mission
"Excellent," Blaise said enthusiastically, "then it seems we have nothing left to discuss here. Zandyr will escort you home to Tellirin to speak with your empress. Happy hunting, Morgan."

Blaise opened the carriage door and ushered Morgan out. The meeting had been more peaceful than originally planned. Usually he had to keep diplomats around as leverage and have a quick interrogation, but it seemed his knives need not be unsheathed for now.
