Hey everyone!

I have been working on starting a comic and while I know the title is the last thing you do, I would like some tips on creating one! I am going camping next week and will have lots of time to consider things and I will have plenty of time to brainstorm titles. For some reason my mind is stuck on a title and I feel once I figure something out that sounds okay, then I feel I can move forward with everything else! Even if its just a working title it would help me.

I would welcome anyone who has RP'd with Raine and know her story to offer any ideas they may have as well!

Basically I have two working titles but I do not know how I feel about them. Lady of Vavel or The Silver Queen/ The Silver Princess

For those who'd like to take a shot in the dark for a title name here is a brief summary (Story is still being altered). This is the absolute bare bones of the story and does not represent the final product.
The story focuses on Princess Raine, a troubled woman who has endured much pain at the hands of her father. The king, once well respected has changed over time. Many say he has gone sick with madness. Raine spends her youth not learning to paint or sing, rather she spends it on the battle ground, wielding a sword to protect her life. She was raised to be the son the King never had and to lead his country from one victory to another. Over time the King becomes unbearably cruel, forcing Raine to leave Vavel once and for all. At first her only desire is to be free but later on her aspiration changes when she feels responsible for Vavels downfall into turmoil.
As someone who has had 4(? I think 4) characters rp with Raine, I have to say Lady of Vavel sounds like a good title. Or Maybe Blood and steel. The blood part can have a dual meaning, one as a bit of a premonition of war, or fighting, and the other for blood as family and what we would do for them. And of course Steel is her upbringing under the sword.
But I'm bad with titles so don't hate it too much.
I think I'm pretty decent with titles... But I'm liking Lady of Vavel myself! It rolls off the tongue when you say it to others, it's easy to anagram (And the anagram itself is pretty cool too!), and is a lot more memorable to me overall. It kinda has a timeless value to it, which is good if you want to make it a long-running series.

EDIT: However, and I don't know why, from reading the summary and reading her profile once or twice before, "Lady of Mourning" strikes me as a good working title. From what I know, she's a warrior, and with her past, she may have had a lot of lost friends and loved ones. Raine must've gone through a lot in terms of that, and not only do I think she might be mourning for those that she has lost, but for her Kingdom being under duress by her father... She might even mourn for herself a time or two because of the possibility that one day she may start to follow her father's footsteps if she's not careful. Lady of Vavel still sounds cooler to me for the reasons I listed above, but I hope my idea is at least a decent springboard for you.

Then again, from what I know of Raine, she seems like one of those tragic character types with a bittersweet ending caused by forces out of her control mixed with a hint of her own hubris in trying and/or succeeding to stop said forces. I could be wrong nine times out of ten, but that's the initial vibe I get from her.

This is super thoughtful! I actually really like lady of mourning! She definitely has a lot of mourning to do, jer entire life seems to be shaped around it. Its definitely in my top 3 favorite titles! Thank you guys so much for your input sorry it took me so long to get back to you!

A quick Google search leads me to believe there is already a comic titled Blood and Steel, alas :(

I also like Lady of Vavel, it's fun to say.
Just a figurative two cents, but what about some wordplay and homonyms?
Raine: Rain, Reign, Storm, Tears, and Tempest?

Reign of Vavel? Reign of Mourning? Storm of Vavel? Reign of Asawa?

Rephrase parts? With Blood and Steel" apparently already taken, what about... Swordforged, Battleforged, or stretching the original Blood and Steel a bit, maybe Sanguine Edge?
Running it through Google Translate brings up "Veri ja Teräs" which is Finnish for Blood and Steel...

I may have just complicated matters, and if I did I'm sorry. Just wanted to float some ideas your way
Going off of what Jay just mentioned, Tears of Vavel is a really nice one! It definitely gives off that mourning feel I mentioned earlier and plays off of the suffering of her people at her father's hands.
One of my characters is married to a Silver Princess, so I'm biased in that I considered it a pretty generic name.

At least that's what I thought until I googled it - it's a plant, there's a book that has it as a part of its title, etc. Silver Queen is similarly popular. So I'm probably not that biased - it really is everywhere.

I'm not at all sure how search engines work, but selecting one of the titles with the more unique keywords would mean people would find you more easily, IMO.

Id quote all of you but i am mobile for the next few days.

Thank you all for your input! I like Reign of Vavel too! Has a nice ring to it!

I agree the silver princess/queen is pretty generic considering i got the idea from the white queen. I just put it down in case someone really loved the idea.
