The front gates towered before all those who dared approach them. They were nearly twenty feet high, made of old mahogany and iron that began to rust years ago. Chains were hidden behind the gray brick walls that controlled the opening and closing of the great gates, allowing or rejecting travelers to witness what was sitting behind the exterior. This building, in all its grandeur, was a library.
Hey ! I want to do something with my character Aeris. He's from a short story I started to write, but I wanted to get to work on him more outside of his story. The idea is a medieval fantasy setting, where stories aren't told by books, they're told by mouth, and people learn all they have to from their parents. So, all in all, libraries aren't used. However, this one is a little different, and in there lives a strange Bookkeeper, who isn't as Human as he might come off as.
There are a few ways this could go; you could be a visitor to the library because you found an odd book, you heard tales of the library in old stories (as it goes in his actual story); maybe something happened to the library and Aeris was forced to leave and finds your character while he's scared/hurt. The possibilities are endless, and I'd be able to do all sorts of angles on this
Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.

A peaceful setting, but with a chance for small fights and struggles to break out on a very small scale.
